MemberSounds good!
Now all I need is for my new decks to get here – it feels sad being reduced to Virtual DJ Home…… 🙁

As His Girlfriend is Absolutely Gorgeous 🙂 🙂How the hell does she put up with it!!! My girlfriend would be dragging the laptop away from me after about 10 seconds of that! 🙂

Submit!! You know you want to join us……. heheh
While NHL is pretty cool, there is nothing which is a proper hardware mixer in the range – and having a hardware mixer is a pretty big plus if you want to run your own mobile rig, as it’s dead easy to crank up the iPod when (if) your computer locks up.
NS6 has some decent sized pitch slider, but it’s pricey….

Hopefully a Kind Person will be able to help me and Supply me with one though 🙂That shouldnt be a problem Emma, we could get a generic DJTT name drop for the entire mix (to signify DJ changeover).
However, I would love to hear a female “Emma Partnow” name drop, it’d be awesome listening to the mix and knowing you worked on it with a talented and respected producer! Maybe you could get a friend/college to record one for you? Do you have a mic in your studio set-up?

+1 to that. I’ve heard nothing but good things about Mackies, but they may be overkill for house parties. Behringers however might do the job now that their build quality is getting better, despite their average sound quality.

Member$280? I see it as $380, with the seller as byrontrader.
Due to the lack of branding, I’d say they’re cheap Chinese knockoffs, but from the seller feedback, you will get them.
Personally I’d save up for a quality brand, as I doubt these have a limiter (which means you could easily blow the speaker cones) and the’re probably terrible build quailty. Also the amp is small (100W!) so you wont get much volume out of it.
So yes, it’s legit, just not very good.

Ooooohhh, big claim there! In my opinion DVS will still be a player, especially as the turnablism peeps wound accept anything which isnt a 12″ disc of wax….
But for every other aspect of DJing, I think that digital is the way to go. I’m especially keen to see the demise of CDJs!
Why the demise of CDJs? Well, I think they’re the worst compromise between wax and digital. You have nowhere near the level of tactility and control that you do vinyl, yet you are stuck without luxuries of digital (for example no detailed waveforms, lack of quantisation and remappable controls) I see CDJs becoming glorified jog wheels in the next ten years – then after that I think we’ll be in a new era DJing….

MemberMaybe it’s just the cynic in me, but does he have to release an album right in the middle of DJ Mag Top 100 voting?

That’s it. I shelled on a S4 out about 5 days before this got announced, but I still want the S4 😉

MemberMichael Fuchs, post: 6327 wrote: Luckily for me, there are some relatively low prices mixers on the market today, which would allow me to get one without dropping hundreds of dollars on one. Definitely an option for me if I stumble across any cash right now, so thanks for the tip! 🙂
That’s it. All you need is a dead basic, 2 channel mixer with 3 band EQ and a headphones jack and you’re set!

MemberIt has been discussed to a point here: http://www.digitaldjtips.com/forum/threads/serato.29/
It’s always a interesting debate, but it really depends on what you want from your software.

MemberMichael Fuchs, post: 6279 wrote: … why don’t you just do the function of the mixer inside the software program? I mean, can’t i do everything i can do on a mixer straight from an x1?
Well, yes you can, but there’s nothing quite like smashing faders around on a mixer – it can be quite addictive!
The reason I’d use an external mixer is that I like having all my essential functions on the suface – not hidden away in shify layers. However, money is always an issue for students like us, so dont worry about it too much. I’d just try to hook up with someone who does have an external mixer and try it out!

MemberSome general troubleshooting tips here:
Make sure that both X1’s ARE NOT both set to “All Ports” under MIDI settings – they both need their individual ports.
With the mapping, one X1 should be set to control decks A & B, the other should be set to control decks C & DAny other hints I’ve forgotten?
