Easy. Put on/find/offer to DJ for as many underage event as your possibly can. You can forget about playing in bars/clubs until you’re 18, no manager will want you in there due to the huge fines they (and you) can get for being under-age in a venue.
I started out in high school, and I DJed pretty much every party/social/dance etc that there was. I also think that it was great experience, as most people arent drunk at these type events, and as a result they can be extremely brutal in their criticism of you and your abilities. As a result, it was back to the studio in an attempt to wow them.
I think that if you can get as many under-age gigs as you can, you’ll be a great DJ by the time you turn 18. So get out there, and get some gigs!

Member^^^ Now this is how Pioneer should’ve laid out their new mini controller….

MemberHave you tried resetting to the stock mapping? That should work fine.
Ok, with my Mixtrack, I re-mapped the pitch buttons to gain up/down. Just copy the following script into the corresponding sections:
PITCH-
gain -3%PITCH+
gain +3%So the top section is what button, bottom is the script. Give that a go for both decks.

MemberHuh? “and it does sync up right on it”.

They played songs they never heard at different sound qualities, and they couldn’t tell the difference.
Bad quality is bad quality…but the arguments I’ve seen about how “even 320 kbps is a step down…I can tell” are a complete lie.
This may be true – up to a point. I have noticed that when listening to my music, I can pick out the difference between a 320kbps and an older 128kbs – however, I too struggle to tell the difference between a 320 and 256 kbps.
So I think bit rates do make a difference, just not as much a we could like to think….

MemberHey mate.
Firstly I’d have to agree with Stiffy on the bump, 20mins is a pretty short time to get a reply, even on one of the largest DJ forums around, of which DDJT is most certainly not. Patience will reward you.
As far as the mapping goes, yes, the crossfader and jogs work fine in TP2. The stock mapping there works a little differently to the VDJ mapping, however if you’re willing to fiddle around you can get it working the same (as I did).
I can’t comment on the 4-MX, but I have owned the Mixtrack Pro and I can say it’s a quality unit, you really can to wrong. If you’re unsure, read reviews on both, and go to your local store and try them out. Most of the time it’s up to personal preferance.

But; I have Messed Up; I have to Take Responsibility; and Now I Have To Suffer 🙁That’s a shame, I as quite like people who experiment with other genres – it’s a great way of learning more about music. While dubstep isn’t my cup of tea, I dont ridicule anyone who likes/plays/produces it.
(Although, do you have any non-dubstep on your soundcloud Emma? If so, I’d be keen to hear it!)

Too late, it’s already happened! I was the sound tech at a college talent night tonight, which featured lots of acoustic singer/songwriter types. Then the American exchange student who is on the judging panel says “you guys are good, not like that techno crap they play on the radio nowdays”!!!
IT’S NOT TECHNO, IT’S EDM!!!

MemberYou have some good points there Emma. However, what I was trying to say is that there a large number of “wannabe” DJs out there today, and if you want to succeed, you have to differentiate yourself in as many ways as possible, not just your music. While for people like Carl Cox or Tiesto origionally had “DJ” in their names, it was the fashion back then to do this. (Hey, even “DJ Phil Morse” is just “Phil Morse” these days :))
That said, if you came up to me in the street and said “I’m Lukas van der Westhuizen and I play house/electro/tech/trance music”, I’d think thats pretty cool. As some of my duties as part of a universtiy DJ club, we have a lot of wannabe DJs coming up to us and begging for gigs. I’d say 90% of them have DJ or numbers in their DJ name, and this tends to make me think that everyone is like this, so I dont even bother to listen to their horrible youtube mixes. (see here for what I mean). When the other 10% “seem” different, I actually listen to what they send me, and some of them get gigs.
So what I’m trying to say is – Be Different!jezalenko
MemberYou have a very nice sound mate, it’s very polished and professional. However I found the structure of the track lacking – while you had some of the basic conventions in there, I felt lost – there wasnt enough going on to tell me whereabouts in the song I was.
Maybe if you tried a more traditional song structure of Intro-Verse-Bridge-Chrous-Verse-Bridge-Chrous-Breakdown-Bridge-Chrous-Lead Out, this would create better progression of the song.
However, all that said, it’s a fantastic sounding track, really tight fat sound, I’m looking forward hearing more from you!

MemberSounds pretty good mate, but there a few things I think you need to keep in mind when you brand something (in this case you/your music!)
-Has somebody already taken the facebook page/url?
-Is your name not like any other “popular” DJs around (I’m thinking how many deadmau5 copy cats there are around, putting numbers as letters) (excuse the pun)
-Dont prefix your name with “DJ” that’s a little too corny/obvious. Unless you’re a scratch DJ from tha ‘hood. And above all, BE UNIQUE!!!!
Hopefully we’ll be seeing you play at Ministry Of Sound in a few years 😀

This is all my personal opinion, feel free to ignore/criticise/applaude as you wish.jezalenko
MemberThanks, I’ll definatly have to check them out when I have some spare cash. At least I can still start learning wax on the TTs at a local bar I play semi-reguluarly at.
Anyway, back on topic. That whole mix train thingy….. sounds cool! 🙂

MemberOne very shiny and new S4 😀 😀 😀
Eta 1 week, I decided to buy from DJTT given the USD/AUD exchange rate, it was cheaper then buying locally, and I got the free Scratch upgrade too. Now all I need is some 1200’s…. damn RGAS!
