MemberI am just trying to figure out how you say your CDJ has no digital sound but a controller does, when they get their music from the same source and use the same methods to produce the scratch effect….. I am not talking about the feel of anything like that anymore. Specifically the “Digital Sound”…… (Cause at first you said you can hear the difference, now you say you can’t) Its all good though, I’m going to go work now…. peace
To The OP, you can totally scratch with a controller, Tons of people are doing it. The higher end ones feel better. I prefer using Time Code Vinyl if the club has Tables, But I throw down with my Mixtrack Pro on a regular basis in this small club every fri…. Just takes some practice.

MemberI got the 13″ at Best Buy, brought it home, opened it…… Packed it back up and brought it back and got the 15″…. I am so happy I did. I love the thing!!!! Its only been a month since I left Windows and I am so happy

MemberDJ Max D, as far as the feel, It all depends on what you have for a controller, There are controllers that feel more like CDJ’s. I have nearly no latency issues, not anymore than you would get with a cdj

MemberSo you can hear a difference between an MP3 being scratched on a Controller and an MP3 being scratched on a CDJ?
Jay Godin
MemberCDJ’s and Scratching MP3’s produce the same sounds. They use the same Algorithms to accomplish the effect. If you think that scratching with a controller sounds bad, you might want to look at the bitrate of the track you are trying to use. I only you 320k or higher tracks and I have never had a complaint.
Personally, I would love to bring out the 1000’s of records I own every night and lug my coffin and sound system around to different venues, but it just isn’t feasible anymore.
I have been doing this since the 90’s. Used Vinyl, Used CD’s, Used Controlers….. I like what I am using and I can effectively use it how I need too.

MemberI don’t know where you live, But the NI Audio2 is a great interface that allows you to hook up in different ways. It has 2 stereo outs that you can use to connect to 2 different channels on a mixer, or use the internal mixer and use 1 for a main out and the other for a cue out. and its only $99 (us)

MemberHey, do you like the Numark RedWAves?
Jay Godin
MemberI was using an Audio2 on my old laptop (recently got a Mac and a new controller with sound built in) and I was getting drop outs about once an hour for a half a sec. It didn’t happen with my laptop before that. I tried all different settings and was still getting it, So i searched the internet and I found other people with the same issue with a similar laptop specs. Check your specs on your laptop and google around, it might just be a setting, but you might have the dreaded same combo that i had where there is nothing you can do about it.

MemberI can agree that you will be looking for the functions of Pro once you get deeper into using the software. Keep yours eyes open down the road, NI sometimes offers deals on upgrading to different versions. I was lucky enough to upgrade to Pro2 recently and it is the bomb.

MemberI have used the S4 and I really like it. I think this will be my next controller. I am using a mix track Pro in an S4 flight case… I am sorry I don’t have any insight on the Denon, But I am sure that it is just personal preference at this point. Both are high end controllers, from companies with a reputation. If both have the features you are looking for, maybe you just need some hands on time.

MemberUntil recently I was using CDJ-2000 on my regular Saturday night gig. Was using them as a Controller and as a player. The Sharing of the USB stick over the network cable is great. I would show up, pop my stick in, and go. WOuldnt have to worry about which deck had which tracks.

MemberHi there, this is my first post! wooooooooo!
OK, So I have to agree on the Mixtrack Pro. I have been DJing since the mid 90’s and about 4 years ago switched over to using a Laptop. I got the Total Control first. I loved it but it was tiny. Its Similar in size to the Hercules RMX, I just didn’t like it. I Got the Mixtrack(not pro) and I loved the size. I was using it with an audio2 sound card. I loved it. I got it when it first came out, had no idea about the pro. When the pro came out, i was envious. I wanted it all in one small package. So I recently got the Pro. I also got a flight case for the Traktor S4, which has a laptop stand built into it. A little extra foam and it fits great. So now I have one case that houses everything, quick set up, only 2 cords come out of the case(power and sound) Looks really Pro.
