ParticipantOk. Thank God. I have absolutely nothing against Mac, don’t get me wrong, I love how streamlined and clean they are. But I know absolutely nothing about them. While running Traktor with them, have you tried running the Task Manager?

ParticipantTake a Kontrol S4, remove the jogs and replace them with modified F1’s (some rearranging would be necessary, clearly). Replace the hot cue/sample buttons with slightly larger pads (think DDJ-SX). Pop off some knobs and faders, slap on some DJTT Chroma Caps, maybe add some cool LED stripes, just for fun, and we’re good to go. 😀

ParticipantOff to a good start. 🙂 Are you running on a Mac or PC?
Jake Robinson
ParticipantDo you have any other programs you run at the same time as Traktor? (yes, it is an obvious question to some, but the obvious must be addressed in troubleshooting)
Jake Robinson
ParticipantBy the way, forgot to mention: I’m mapping it to Traktor.

Anything is possible now… internal or external mixing?Budget actually isnt really a problem right now. Just looking for ideas.

If you like it really big of course the DDJ SX is also a good bet.How are the Terminal Mix 4’s mappings for Traktor?

Participantlet me be very clear that i’m no expert on this what so ever. however, i cant imagine u would need to replace the whole thing. do some research on google. this can’t be the first time this has happened to someone. i may comment later with more information. i have several people in immediate family who know plenty about such things. 🙂

I use deck A and B for the S2 and I keep two remix decks open C,D for the remix decks. I tend to make my own remix sets based on my style. I like to layer percussion on vocals on to house/electro tracks in the above decks.
I midi mapped my mikro to control the effects in Traktor so when I am not using maschine for production the controller still has a use when I DJ. I havent gotten into using maschine as live inpiut yet. I would use it for live finger drumming but I am nowhere close to the point where I woudl be comfortable performing with it in a live situation.
Recently just started making my own drums loops in maschine to use in the remix deck slots as well. I prefer to make my own sounds so I no that it is unique to my style and no one else has them.
I think the price is right If you know your going to be spending alot of your free time with them.
Possibilities are endless!
So you use the two channels on the S2 for volume, EQ, etc. for decks A and B, and then just control the use the faders on the F1 for those decks’ levels?

ParticipantFor our slightly more clueless readers (meaning me), what is the 1:1 factor?
Jake Robinson
ParticipantDo you think NI will ever open it up to be easily mapped to third-party hardware?

Participantyeah i need four outputs and preferably a mic input

Participanti have a pair of on-ear skullcandy that in my opinon are not only better sounding but much cheaper and *much* more comfortable.

If you really want to go all out you can use a windows netbook running ableton for effects and run that through the effects loop 😉
The best $1000ish mixer IMO is the allen & heath xone 92 as it sounds fantastic, has 4 bands of eq to really shape the sound, midi messages on almost all the controls and the filter is the best in the business.
So for the Xone 92, do you just plug the MIDI Out into your laptop, and you have MIDI control? I’ve never really worked with real MIDI. Just USB. How does that work? And how is the response time, etc?

Participantany suggestions on what mixer?
