Participantİ use both because much of my vinyl is and probably never will be available digitally, i mix it up with both if i feel like it, and yes vinyl sales are up big-time. Vinyl is a way of life a sub-culture so it aint gonna go away that easily if at all. Forget the format and focus on the message.

Participantıve just managed to solve it, there are 2 headphone buttons one on the channel mixer and one on the deck, the track deck one had to be turned off.

ParticipantLossless if you wait to be futureproofed and if your playing on good systems.

Participantİ use a reloop dj3 me, i will keep exploring,, by the way have the waveforms of any of your tracks ever not shown up, recently whenever i load tracks into the track decks the waveforms do not appear underneath, wierd!

Participantthanks terry, much appreciated, i think i was limiting my playlist,,, and worrying about it too much!

Participantonce and if the pricing issue is fixed i would seriously consider apple, i too prefer lossless but after playing some apple files recently i was pleasantly suprised with the sound quality. There is so much music that is ONLY available in itunes that it is worth buying regardless of the 1-2 dollar price difference.

ParticipantOK, losseless is more difficult for these types of genres although traxsource.com and even beatport have and are improving on these genres, also try whatpeopleplay and possibly clone.nl, although they may be geared more towards techno but they also like there disco and related. İt depends on how ‘underground’ or commercial it is i guess. Quite frankly İ can keep up with the number of new online stores opening.

ParticipantMix it up, its more rewarding for you and the crowd, you have a rough plan anyway, be flexible and like the others sais, read the crowd and dont plan to much,,,,,

ParticipantBugger that really does suck!!!! When starting a beatgrid with a marker doest traktoe place a grid over the whole track? İn another words how do i just grid lets say the first 8 bars? Or maybe even outro?

Participantİve been djing for nearly 18 years now and have only ever done it as a ‘serious’ hobby and i too have a full time teaching job AND married which you can imagine is very very demanding but somehow i have managed to dj regularly and continue to do so. İ also do a monthly at a local bar/club. The way i managed is by using any spare time for discovering new music and allocating anything between 1-2 hours a week mixiing which is all i can manage. HOWEVER if you feel ready and really want to continue djing alongside a demanding job/life then my biggest recomendation is to find a local venue where by you can play on a regular basis. You practice and dj at the same time. İt also means that your busy schedule cant interfere in that because its ‘fixed’. Dont worry about the new talent emerging all the time and that you feel that you are starting all over every time you mix because unless you have dreams to be the next Sasha or are serious about djing as a career move then there is no reason to worry about other talent. Dont forget that for ‘part-time’ djs like us its about playing for enjoyment not for a living. İ dj maybe twice a month on average to about 50-100 people, half of them friends and believe me its GOOD enough. Focus on a suitable venue and if you can afford it get a suitable PA because that gives you more opportunity to play in venues that may otherwise not be suitable such as bars etc. And of course continue with the online mixes as that is so easy to do these days. Good luck and dont ever think that just because you have a demanding occupation you can do what you love.

Participantan excellent questi̇on and one that i̇s hard to answer. i̇m a fullti̇me teacher and marri̇ed no ki̇ds yet but at the moment i̇ am struggli̇ng to make ti̇me to do the thi̇ngs a dj needs to do. hunti̇ng for musi̇c i̇s qulte easy, that can be done any moment you have free anywhere as long as you have i̇nternet access. practi̇ce i̇s the hardest thi̇ng, i̇ used to plan my free ti̇me down to the mi̇nute but li̇fe doesnt go i̇n a strai̇ght li̇ne so i̇ now just say to myself that i̇ need to get at least 45 mi̇ns practi̇ce i̇n every few days .lucki̇ly i̇ve been dji̇ng a long ti̇me so ı have the fundementals sussed out meani̇ng i̇ts about keepi̇ng the ski̇ll level up but probably not ever getti̇ng that much better. enough to do what i̇ need. get your equi̇pment set up ready to go all the ti̇me and gi̇ve yourself 1hr-2 i̇n whi̇ch ever i̇ncrement you wi̇sh. another words spread i̇t out. someti̇mes short mi̇xes someti̇mes longer. set yourself a reali̇sti̇c target, ei̇ther weekly/monthly such as a podcast, mi̇xtape etc. plan what needs to be done regardi̇ng musi̇c management before you do i̇t.
