Thanks Staz. I love the DVS capability of the 8000, but also want to maintain full midi functionality in traktor/serato. I know the 8000 comes with a Serato midi map, it doesn’t have controller surfaces for software effects or other capabilities. Would I be better served going with a pair of 7000s, and a controller (x1, DDJ-SP1) for the various effects in Serato/Traktor?

    Thanks for the replies!

DJ Vintage: I’m fortunate that my parents kept, maintained, and passed along their vinyl collection, along with a few other family members. Exploring through their old milk crates has been quite the adventure!

Ideally, I would like to make the DDJ-SX my mobile set up for gigs, and an additional standalone mixer + 2 turntables that is my main set up at home. I would also prefer the capability to switch between traditional mixing (no laptop, no software) and DVS with traktor/serato.

Terry_42: Thanks for the advice! Every article I have read online has mentioned tips for being careful when buying used 1200s, but nothing on the ongoing maintenance required post purchase. Would you recommend the RP-8000 over the Pioneer PLX-1000? Seems that the RP-8000 has more features, but doesn’t carry the “Pioneer” name. If it’s just going to be my home set up, is there anything long term that the PLX offers (better build quality etc) other than the Pioneer brand name?

    Thanks again!
