ParticipantOK you guys were totally right…..I got a good hip hop beat and have been doing nothing but the fresh sample baby scratches and been trying to do it to some of the beats so its not random sounding….I was trying to move waaaaaaaay to fast. I haven’t even touched the fader in a week. I can tell that its sounding more consistent 🙂 YaY!
jason schutta
ParticipantDj Angelo is SUCH a monster!! There is a crazy vid of him and short-e each on one turn table sharing a crossfader that broke my brain 😀 thanks for the motivation terry!
Ok thanks guys..
I’m going to download some people under the stairs instrumental tracks they are nice and slow and I’m going to do nothing but practice baby scratches for a couple weeks for an hour or so a day before I even touch the crossfader. I also think I need to learn how to count beats a bit. And I think I need to slow down and not be so crazy about pushing before I got stuff down.
Once I get this down and know I’m going to stick with it I’m totally picking up a terminal mix love those jogs.
Love the help guys

ParticipantThanks guys I’ll just keep plugging away then and keep watching tutorials!!!
I know I’m awful and need tons more practice….but i can see leaps and bounds improvement. Especially now that I got a Ahhhhh and yeahhhhh samples to practice baby scratches on.
I didn’t know if not being able to set virtual turntable setting to 33 1/3 in full serato like tutor Steve does in his how to set up the numark video was hindering me

ParticipantHi I’m a total newbie and joined just to learn scratching. I picked up a nu mark mix track pro 2 to learn on and until the scratching class opens up again I have been going on you tube and watching the DJ short-e tutorial videos on the Studio Scratches channel. Tons of tutorial videos for vinyl but its free and translates.
I’m still awful but at least improving while I wait

ParticipantMore Scratch class soon pleeeeease!!!

ParticipantI just got my first controller 7 hours ago after asking 11 questions on here and reading all the reviews on here. I went and picked up a numark mixtrack pro 2. Take it from someone who knows nothing about djing or has made anything not sound like garbage it rules and is totally worth the price 😀 Seriously I love it, even though it’s plastic it feels really solid and the jog wheels feel really smooth.
So there you have it from someone who has been djing for 7 hours
the guy at the store who does professional gigs uses one it’s just so cheap for the quality it seems.

ParticipantSteve I got my controller and headphones….I literally can’t wait to learn. I will read all the newsletters and try to get the initial hang of this before the class.
Consider me signed up as soon as it opens!!

ParticipantYay thank you for all the help…..I went to store and got an open box nu mark mix track pro 2. And pioneer hdj500 headphones for 300 total.
I was going to get the reloop 2 but its insane expenaive. And I don’t think I need serato video which you have to buy with it.
So thank you to all of you who took the time to post and read my rambling I really appreciate all of your advice.
Scratch class sign me up!!!!!

ParticipantYeah ok so here is my woes =/
In Wisconsin here the Terminal mix 2’s are all sold for 599 for some assinine reason the other shop only carries the 4 but its 799.
So since i don’t want to get ripped off and reloop seems to be really hard to come across around here for a reasonable price i went and scoured the buyers guide and went and watched the how to set up so and so controller for scratching. So i read the review on the numark mixtrack pro 2 and it got super high ratings and i saw that it was the controller most used in the scratching classes i can get one at guitar center in stock for 250 with serato intro thoghts?
is it just me or does the terminal mix 2 for 599 seem like alot? it does come with serato dj + video

ParticipantThank you all for the responses I have done a ton of reading. I think I am going to look at getting the terminal mix since you all recommend it so highly I did read about the vci-380 being awesome except it’s cross fader not being great so…..ask for advice, follow advice 😀
Terry_42 if a new scratch class opens up *crosses fingers* I will join it the second I can…..I literally can’t wait.
My last question before I go get terminal mix can I get the two channel??? Do I really need four channel being a complete newbie and all. Guitar Center here sells the terminal mix 2 Dj+ that goes for $599 it comes with Serato dj and video. They don’t sell the 2 without the Serato dj package. The 4 model without Serato dj is also $599 but comes with serato poopy version.
Thanks again guys I am SUPER excited to go pick something up.

ParticipantThanks for the response….unfortunately i know it’s going to be a long road. I do not know know the basics of djing yet and I am fully aware I need to learn that first so it’s going to be a very long road, but that’s what a good hobby is for right?
While i said money isn’t a problem I would like to not spend $1500 lol however i did see this which would be at the very top of my price range Numark NS7FX Motorized DJ Software Controller I thought the idea of the motors and slipmats were kinda sick but didn’t know if it was a gimmick or not.
I have looked at getting a vinyl setup and but finding good platters and a mixer and getting the software REALLY boosted the price up for anything high quality for scratching. I either saw really crappy gear that was cheap and questionable or technics 1200’s and rane mixers that would be like $1300 when all is said and done and thats with 0 software. Also since I am totally new to the whole thing I was thinking (possibly wrongly) that a controller would be easier to learn the basics on first.
Guitar Center has a Numark NS7FX that comes with the Serato Itch software included for an extra hundred or so would this be the best bet (it does look very cool and would possibly give a decent more realistic feel?!) Anyone have opinions on this?
I’ll scratch the traktor off my list……hah bad joke.
Also once again Thank you to anyone and everyone who reads or replies i do not want to set myself up for failure right out of the gate.
