ParticipantNothing but a good time and some experience. Great gig though

ParticipantI totally, sometimes I follow the belief that if you can’t figure out what a DJ is diong, he’s doing a damn good job.
Thanks, I appreciate it. I’ll be sure to check out those labels and see what Japan has to offer.

ParticipantA lot of DJs do, a lot don’t. Effects used in the right way can take a track to a whole new level, or they can completely ruin it. Unfortuantely with the availability of technology many people skip learning to master a basic mix and try to jump right into the more advanced/ fun stuff. Myself, sometimes I use heavy effects that overshadow the track itself but it’s done with purpose (part of a long buildup ect..) and other times using them ever so slightly. There are few things worse than being at a one room club with a DJ who ruins every song with overuse of effects.

ParticipantDepends what I’m in the mood for. The gym is often where I listen back to my mixes and that gets me pretty pumped up. It’s usually techno, d&b or some serious heavy metal. My gym is awful for music, the most generic top 40, Justin Bieber, Carly Rae whatever crap.

ParticipantTo be honest, the headliners I can’t wait to see are usually pretty average… I’m usually most blown away by local residents.

ParticipantWhen I’m doing a warm up set that’s getting close to coming to an end for the next dj, sometimes I like doing a breakdown that still has a beat but without bass that lasts 1.5-2min. After the bass is gone for so long, when the it finally comes back in people get excited! Over the breakdown as well I’ll increase the tempo a bit as well. That will be done on one of the last 2-3 tracks to get people on the floor for the next guy. It works sometimes better than others, still working on perfecting it.

ParticipantUnless I’m at home or a house jam I’ll never get drunk while spinning. The most I’ll allow myself is to be a bit tipsy but no more. When it comes to being baked and spinning, I’ve pretty much never had an issue with that no matter how much.

ParticipantFew years old now, but everybody still loves this.

Hey if some girls asked me to play some Emperor, then I’d totally consider it. Sadly, they wanted some fluffly trancy or SHM sort of stuff.

ParticipantOnce I was being hassled by these two incredibly irritating (but very hot) girls who kept asking me to play faster stuff with more vocals. I told them I was just warming up for the headliner and wasn’t gonna go all out, when the other guy showed up right beside me. They started asking him what he was gonna play and they started saying, “give me your computer, I’ll download them for you and you can play it.” What happened next made me burst out laughing, “I’m not giving you my computer, your taste in music sucks and this isn’t a f*cking trance show so go away.” Nothing like watching girls who are used to guys bending over backwards for them being told off, like a deer caught in headlights.
Probably not the best way to go, but very effective.

ParticipantSolid set man, I enjoyed it.

ParticipantI’ve never put out a mix without a mistake, though if there’s a trainwreck part I’ll re-record it from scratch. Sometimes when listening to other mixes, when you hear a mistake you know they’re trying to do something, not just letting tracks play out and syncing everything. It makes it more interesting imo.
Also, Carl Cox, John Digweed, Adam Beyer… All long time pro djs and every mix I’ve heard by them have a few issues, nobody is perfect! -
