So much has changedSo I’m not alone!
I came from a heavy metal background, all forms of smiling and dance music was my arch enemy. Times really change.

ParticipantWhen they play live they end up catering to a crowd, they gotta make the crowd happy through tricks, effects or anything. Mixes like radio shows are primarily to promote new music and producers.

ParticipantJust gave the first half a listen, some nice stuff on there I dig it.

ParticipantNice to know I’m not alone. As a person who used to hate dance music in general it eventually took me over completely. I thought I was happy but then I dabbled in DJing and now it’s all I think about as well. It’s all I want to do, the first time live is enough to hook you forever. Now after looking at production for a while I’m actually taking it seriously and learning all I can. Never look back.

I’m from Thornhill but being as boring as it is I never spend any time there. I’m in the west end for some reason most of the time lol

ParticipantI’ve only seen one house DJ to this date ever speak to the crowd and he’s actually really good with it, MC Flipside. That guy can spin a party like a king.

Nice, another Torontonian. I was wondering who the guy who liked my page was yesterday. This topic is great.

ParticipantMixcloud, I love that site, the layout and they keep doing little things here and there to improve it all the time. The only thing I wish we could get is a bit more personalization on our home page to spice things up a bit.

ParticipantIf you still want to use a controller, just get an X1 or a comparable item. They’re pretty small and can fit anywhere, no club should give you a hard time over those. Oh yeah, they’re also fairly cheap.

ParticipantWear your clothes backwards, you can be like the dj version of Kriss Kross

ParticipantI don’t think I’d ever play something I flat out don’t like. There’s stuff I prefer to others for sure though. If somebody requested anything by the Swedish House Mafia I wouldn’t be able to do it, but even I have some cheesy house I enjoy.

ParticipantPraise the house gods that Toronto has a great underground scene and I never have to worry about any of this crap.

ParticipantBetter than being tall and hunched over because the equipment is so far away.

Porter uses a Kontrol S4 so does Zedd for big stadium shows…but as far as i know Raves havent been around since the 90s…its just big stadium shows or night clubs…
Raves are still around here at least. It’s usually the only place to hear hardstyle, happy hardcore and so on. THey’er just full of 13-19 year old candiravers anyways. Lame crowd.
