But really, who cares if you have already played it? Particularly in a place with high traffic, like a bar or ‘unconventional’ spot, like clothes shop or convention/car show.

If you sense a perfect time for a track, you know its going to work don’t let the fact that you played it at the beginning of the night, possibly to a different set of people, stop you from throwing on that jam!

as part of a set, you could see the parts of the track as a reoccurring motif, and part of the theme you have created.

sorry about putting all my parts in that last sentence. :O

    ok, sorry about the delay…

open itunes and go to edit > preferences > general > import setting

then select your desired bit rate, i suggest 320

next, find your software’s recordings folder. and open your dj set (right click ‘open with’ select itunes)

when the wav appears in the itunes window, right click > create mp3 version

once it is done you can edit the metadata of the file in itunes, put your dj name as ‘artist’ ect…

then try uploading that version to your mixcloud or soundcloud account (or sendspace or mediafire)

personally, i like itunes as a way to play music and organise files. i might be worth doing a little research on itunes and how it can organise your files.

    good luck mate

    great, will do mate.

at the risk of opening an audiophile can’o’worms, in itunes you can right click ‘create mp3’ to make a much smaller file. set up your conversion setting in the preferences 1st.

i suspect that it is too big a file (wavs are big uncompressed files). perhaps try uploading to another site like soundcloud, mixcloud or even mediafire and then linking to the file.

yeah, take the sync off, or just use it to get to the correct bpm initially then its down to your ears. also, you might want to get some of the tracks you find most troublesome into ableton (or whatever is best for you) and meter the tune so its locked on time. or, you can search on soundcloud, there are thousands of disco edits on there.

    here’s a disco mix i did with traktor… http://www.mixcloud.com/itsjpsource/bedmocast-03-mixed-by-jp-source/

You probably can. I have a feeling you are going to need a cable like this…

Do you know any lawers, paralegals or law students? If so get them to look over the contract. you need to read carefully before you sign anything. It could work out very very well for you with guaranteed shows, but you should to be wary of anyone taking money from you, particulary if they didnt get you the gig. Sometimes management contracts will stipulate that said manager can take a percentage of all your shows, regardless of wether they got them for you.

good luck mate, it sounds like you might be on to a winner with your act!

Consider the Kontrol s2, its solid and certainly pro standard. Also, if your thinking about switching to traktor, it’s already included with the hardware.

Also, take a look at the reloop controllers, you get a lot of ‘bang for your buck’ with those.

    happy hunting

The article was a nice trip down memory lane. It could have looked at the similarities between this trend, reintroducing dance music to america and getting it played on the radio, and what happened in the 60’s with bands like the stones, and the animals. They were covering american blues artists and eventually eventually raised awareness of a very important musical movement that was being largely ignored by certain parts of society. When both trends receded the US was left with the original influential artists. It must have been quite a nice surprise to these kids when they realized that all along right on their doorstep they had, Todd Terry, MAW, Armand, Sneak, flipping, Derrick May, Juan Atkins, and Kevin Saunderson. There’s loads of examples, you get the idea.
