I’ll definitely come back and post an update once I’ve been using this for a while longer. The only thing I can see making me change my mind about this thing is stability, and that remains to be seen yet. But fingers crossed it’s gonna hold up ok. I’m currently trying my best to overwork it and make it crash so I can learn it’s limitations, but it’s holding it’s own so far.

I’m sure you’re gonna love the NS6 too, heard a lot of good stuff about it!

Well, I went ahead and bought one of these as I saw one on offer for a great price. And have to say, after having it for a few days now and playing around with it a lot, I really like it. It is a little slow switching screens, but nothing that would make me stop using it. I analyzed all my music beforehand with the QuickGrid software, and have had no problems with any files. The software isn’t great with BPM detection, and has miscalculated a few files, but again nothing too bad – 95% of stuff worked out ok. Hopefully this will be improved. Build quality is better than I expected after reading some reviews – nice and sturdy, nice heavy platters, and feels more solid than my Numark NDX800 (which almost cost the same). Effects are simple but nice – I like the sound of the filter. EQ’s are nice too, with a great kill. So, all in all, I think it’s a great unit so far. I will of course test it thoroughly before doing any gigs with it, but so far so good!

Oh, and there are some complaints on the new “Gibson” SCS.4DJ forum, which will hopefully be addressed. Perhaps the perception of Stanton deleting complaints was due to the support forum being deleted/moved over to Gibson after their acquisition?

I’m leaning more towards the fact that it didn’t get bad reviews because it’s actually pretty damn good!

Hmmmmm, I’ve been researching the SCS.4DJ a lot over the last few days, and this is actually the first bad review I found of it. I know a few people have complained about build quality and stuff, but for the price it really seems like a good deal. I’m seriously considering getting one, as I’ve had more than my fair share of laptop woes when DJing over the years, and I’ve been longing for an all-in-one unit. I’m a very basic DJ, more a selector, so one cue point is enough for me, and I have a Korg Kaoss Pad so the effects being simple doesn’t worry me much either. My main thing with this would be stability – which from most other reviews I’ve read seems very good.
