MemberInteresting, but as D-Jam says, no matter how high is the quality of the file, the result tends to be the same. Although, people can perceive a big difference between file formats. One example, once I converted a .WAV file I have done to a .mp3@96Kbps and to a .ogg@96Kbps and the winner, hands down, was the .ogg file. It remained clear and punchy.
Even though this test, I don’t know the technical specs of each file format, but there are some specific formats that work better in lower situations

The harmonic mixing being obligatory is somewhat overzealous(…)
Yes, I think the same as SmiTTen. Just to add something short. Although you use harmonic tunes, sometimes they do not blend well. What its more important than looking at Harmonic Mixing Tables and Musical Scale, is the technique and the personal touch that the DJ imprints to the set. IMHO

Well, the term EDM is notoriously new. I believe it was Mr. PvD who started saying that his music was EDM, and then everybody looked at that term. Although, I’m not sure if he was the one who coined the term.
Now coming back to the thread. Guetta, not only have open the ear of the North American, he also opened the ears of most of the American continent. If you take a look in Mexico, he won a Gold Record with his last album. So, taking this in cosideration, you may say that he is doing something good. He is spreading the EDM to the people, which is the best in all cases

It would be important to mention some Harmonic Mixing software for analyzing the music
- Mixed in Key: Paid base, for Mac OS X and Windows
- MixShare Rapid Evolution: Open Source (So it’s Free) for GNU/Linux, Windows and Mac OS

In my country, everything that sound electric call it “Electro” and it tend to be confusing, because a Trance tune is “Electro”, as well a House tune.
The annoying part is when you explain the difference, you get that dizzy face that denotes confusion

It must be a wicked way to catch everybody’s attention.
Now, talking about the way he produces music, well it is very interesting. Most of the times, Club DJs (I do not refer about popular-AvB-style ones) always find something bad in his songs. In my concept, they are what they are, commercial house cuts with a good vocal line. They are like entry level House songs, then you can go deep with, I don’t know, Maya Jane Coles (as an example) or something even “not commerical”
The only thing I don’t really like about his compositions, is the way he overuses the vocals in an entire album. Although, there are some exceptions

MemberWell, I’ll put my lists. First of all, Trance Style:
- Positron- Cygnus X
- Domino Runner – VDM
- Lucifer- Odyssee of Noises
- Purple Cloud – The Swimmer
- Information – Virtual Symmetry
About the last one, is kinda hard to include in a regular set, although, you can always try 😎
In House style, well, it’s complicated, though these are my favorite ones:- Toca Me (Impetto Remix) – Fragma
- Tout va Bien (Original Mix) – Matthias Meyer
- Conscindo (Original Club Mix) – Mark Knight & Wolfgang Gartner
- Doin’ ya Thang (Original Mix) – Oliver $
- Air Breaks (Original Club Mix) – Koen Groeneveld
Special considerations about Conscindo: “Conscindo” comes from Latin “Tear to pieces”. Now, let me tell you as a friend, if you play that song very loud enough, your speakers would be in pieces ipso facto, guaranteed 😀
This is my list, although, I have many more Favs ones, but there’s too much music, that I can’t remember nor name then because the space is short 😉

MemberI want to add my option. How about Mixlr? You just configure the output level, the output stream and then you go and broadcast. It is only for Audio Stream. So you don’t need a huge bandwidth to broadcast all over the world. Totaly recommended

In my case, I have used some of these sites mainly because, old pre-2000 EDM tunes are very hard to find, and in these sites, the digital versions are there.
Although, as ellgief said, if they are within the boundaries of the laws of its country, the discussion ends here. Also, these kind of topics touch the sensible nerves of some people, because it streaks some moral issues towards new and old methods of distribuition.
