MemberNot really annoying, but how about when people request songs and upon you mixing them in, give no reaction… refuse to do anything other than stand there and stare off into space. I don’t expect everyone to break out into the electric slide when I play requests but at least PRETEND like you’re enjoying your request. Help me get the people dancing, return the favor! If you wanted to stand and just listen to music, probably should have saved your money and remained at home 😀 And if the ladies/dudes are your motivation, a zombie like demeanor definitely won’t get you far… 😎

When I started back in 1992, I was buying a lot of the house from 1987-1991, but rave techno was also big at the time, so also played that.
Speaking of Jackin’ House, ever check out Carte Blanche? Hate to sound like an Ed Banger fan boy, but this collaboration of Riton and DJ Mehdi came about to replicate a golden era of Chicago House. If you haven’t heard ‘Gare Du Nord’, check it out immediately D Jam! I guarantee it’ll bring you back to the good ol’ days 😎 Not too many people are going for that sound anymore, and very few can pull off that specific sound, it was awesome to hear it when it first came dropped.
D Jam, please do let me know of any Jackin’-esque artists/DJs to check out, now and in the future 😀

Having said that, I also enjoy mixing things like french house. I like something with a bit of groove to it.
Yea as of late, I’ve been on a big Nu-disco/French House kick. The classic basslines and grooves are just too good to pass up, Xinobi, Bit Funk, etc. Duck Sauce has been putting out some anthems, of course we all know Barbra Streisand, but I heard Busy P drop a Duck Sauce track at Hard Haunted on YouTube which borrows heavily from La Flavour’s ‘Mandolay’. Definitely worth checking out if you dig the Disco beats. It’s a BANGER. Hell, every now and then I’ll mix in a Chic track just for good measure.

When are you planning on getting that Twitch? Hope it meets all expectations. I still haven’t purchased the NS6, I’m kind of in transit at the moment and don’t want to risk damaging the new gear in the move. If I was to consider another controller, it’d be the Twitch for sure.
But for now I suppose my ideal setup would just be the NS6. Maybe a turntable down the road along with SSL as was demonstrated on Skratchworx.

Daft Punk have been great at hiding who they really are. Heck, they’ve even made a movie about their two robot counterparts, and I don’t think they’ve ever done an interview or a show without the masks on. I’m sure a ton of us here on DDJT wouldn’t even recognize the members of Daft Punk if we passed by them on the street. There’s definitely a few vids on YouTube of them without their masks, though most of it predates Discovery. Guy seems to be the more elusive of the two since Thomas does most of the talking during interviews. I’ve seen one of his guest appearances at an Ed Banger event on YouTube, he definitely looks a bit older, but I’d still recognize him. Then again, I am an exception, as I have always been a pretty big fan of Daft Punk 😀

MemberThe Mixtrack Pro is definitely a good choice. I’ve had it since it came out and it hasn’t let me down yet. Solid build and the buttons and jogs are very responsive. For the price, I don’t think it can be beat.

MemberI only mix in key sometimes because I have VDJ, which tells you the key of each song. But like DJ GRE mentioned, it is not without error. I don’t think I would ever purchase mixed in key, simply because I prefer to use my own ears to determine what mixes. Trial and error, all that good stuff.

MemberDubstep is definitely catching on, but like D Jam said, I have yet to see anything big going on in Chicago. Mainly underground stuff. Though I know a few Dubstep DJs will be making appearances at local venues around the time of Lollapalooza.
I got my first taste of Dubstep when I heard Skrillex, and no matter what anyone says about ‘brostep’ or whatever, you can’t argue with those bass drops!
Unless it is a remix or dubstep infused pop song, I’d say Dubstep is an acquired listening for most. Especially the ‘hardcore’ dubstep. So whenever I do play it, I stick with Rusko and stuff like that. I save Figure for my own personal listening.

MemberYea the Master Edition isn’t bad. Though I’ve seen issues with the jogs in a few video reviews online. Also, it comes with an LE edition of Traktor, so those wanting to mix with 4 decks will have to pay for an upgrade, whereas these 3 controllers offer 4 deck control out of the box.
Btw the NS6 also has LEDs for the effects.

MemberYea it is definitely overpriced. Pioneer fans can only hope that they get it right with their next wave of controllers. That is, if they even plan on continuing in that direction. I’d definitely consider Pioneer again if they put out another controller or two and lowered their prices.

MemberSebastiAn and Boys Noize, Ed Banger Records and BNR, respectively. Both of those dudes never let me down with their releases. Can’t tell you how many of their sets I’ve watched on youtube. SebastiAn’s recent album, Total, is awesome.
It’s getting more and more difficult these days to find the goods, especially with the Electro explosion. A lot of it is starting to bore me, but thankfully Boys Noize has never been much of an Electro guy anyway, if ever. And anyone who is familiar with SebastiAn knows he has always done his own thing too.

MemberLove for music. I’ve played several instruments in the past so I guess it was a natural progression. Also grew up listening to classic Chicago House music, I’m sure D Jam could say the same!

MemberCurrently running VDJ 7 Pro. It works well with my Mixtrack Pro, but has crashed several times on me. Happens sometimes, only when I’m selecting a different effect. No big deal I guess. I do like the workflow and simple layout. I’m hoping Itch doesn’t let me down when I upgrade to the NS6. I like to keep things simple.

MemberDN HP700. And yea they’re solid. Looking into upgrading to a custom pair of V-Moda cans. I have a pair of their earbuds and they’re pretty sweet.

MemberLOL yes, don’t want to be a Guitar Center rat. And honestly, I don’t think you’re going to find a better deal than the one that just ended at Guitar Center. They had a Father’s Day promo worth 100 bucks. I should have taken advantage of that and snagged the NS6 but I guess I’m just prolonging my exposure to the marketing campaigns of other controllers. Giving them another shot to sway me. 😀
