there really is no better tool than your ears. while a waveform may look ‘loud’ you often find that it sounds fine in the mix and vice versa.

once you have the skills, you need to hone them. keep practicing, listening to mixes, playing live, recording mixes. it comes with time. don’t run before you can walk

don’t have any more than 2 drinks before you start.
if nerves kick in, heads down for the first few mixes to stay focused as you settle.
playing on a big soundsystem is a completely different experience to just turning your speakers up loud.
relax and have fun with it, you know what you’re doing.
    good luck

Terminal Mix 2 over the Mixtrack any day. With the full version of Serato DJ its £439 (or £350 just with Intro).
The plus side of getting a Serato controller like the TM is that you can also map it to both VDJ and Traktor so you can try out all 3 softwares

To me it seems like an extremely well-executed, tongue-in-cheek look at the world of the EDM superstar, poking fun at all the champagne stereotypes of that scene, using the Avicii tour as a backdrop and a scenario. The social media backlash further cements those stereotypes.
At the very worst, Avicii is being used as a scapegoat for a bit of EDM piss-taking, but given his exposure and status as a superstar this isn’t really surprising. He could have taken it a lot better rather than rising to the bait like he has.

    In my opinion…

you won’t gain any quality, you may as well just buy mp3s to begin with.

if you’re already using virtual dj then take a look at the reloop beatmix. its a well laid out, well built, well priced controller designed specifically for VDJ.

“Matching track styles and keeping it cohesive is probably the hardest part about it, so make sure you guys are working toward the same set, rather than making it sound like 2 different sets being played simultaneously lol.”

probably the best advice on b2b djing. it’s also a good idea to have a mix together beforehand so you can familirise yourselves with each other’s playing style.

In your transport settings (preferences > transport) change the keylock quality to ‘HiQ.’ Providing your computer’s cpu is fast enough, you should find you can get up to about 25% before you get any degredation.

if you use 100% pitch a lot then you’ll also notice pretty quickly that the keylock on cdjs (master tempo) is nowhere near as good as on traktor at those extreme ends
