ParticipantHey Steelo
goto http://forum.djtechtools.com/showthread.php?t=48415&page=2
To download my Mapping. It will work for the original Midifighter but you will have to do some customization.
My mapping is my complete mapping for the S4 and the Midifighter BM plus my keyboard presets which have a couple of small changes.
Import the mapping Delete Everything in the device manager within Traktor except the following
Deck Focus-Effect Reset – Generic MIDI (Midi Fighter Pro Bea…) – Set to focus in:midifighterproBM out: midifighterproBM
MF_FX 4Banks [A] – Generic MIDI (Midi Fighter Pro Bea…) – Set to deck A in:midifighterproBM out: midifighterproBM
MF_FX 4Banks – Generic MIDI (Midi Fighter Pro Bea…) – Set to deck B in:midifighterproBM out: midifighterproBM
MF_FX 4Banks [C] – Generic MIDI (Midi Fighter Pro Bea…) – Set to deck C in:midifighterproBM out: midifighterproBM
MF_FX 4Banks [D] – Generic MIDI (Midi Fighter Pro Bea…) – Set to deck D in:midifighterproBM out: midifighterproBMThose are the only ones you need…and of course set the in and out to the midi fighter classic.
As well you will need to go into
http://www.djtechtools.com/midi-fighter-setup/
and change it to 4 Banks internal mode for it to work properly. This mapping i know works 100% with the new Traktor update.
The Deck Focus Effect reset is used so that with every deck you switch to it switches all the parameters back to original so you dont need to double tap any of the buttons to switch the Deck Reset. The Device for that one is labled:
Deck Focus-Effect Reset – Generic MIDI (Midi Fighter Pro Bea…) – Set to focus in:midifighterproBM out: midifighterproBM
As well in my original mapping i also included the ability to still use the effects knobs and stuff on my S4. This combined with the Deck Focus Effect Reset allows me to control pretty much any effects i want on the fly without having to scroll through and select.
I have all the custom effects of my Midi Fighter and on top i have 3 preset effects which you can switch to by pressing Shift + the Wet/Dry button on the effects section of the S4.
This one here makes it so you can use Effects Bank 1 and 2 on all 4 decks. Normally with the 4 Banks of effects 1 would goto A 2>B 3>c 4>D. This makes it so you can apply Effects bank 1 and 2 to all 4 decks. 6 effects is more than enuff for added customization along with the midi fighter imo. See Below.
FX Reset-Effects Reset – Traker.Kontrol S4.User (KontrolS4) – Set to focus in:KontrolS4 out:KontrolS4
So long story short it would work like this:
Press deck focus on the Midi fighter, and bang away, hit Shift+Dry/wet on the S4 and use the knobs, then hit the deck focus again to switch all the effects back to the midi fighter.

ParticipantHi,
Sorry took me a while to respond, yeah i can share my mapping but i do not think it will work properly for you as mine is made specifically for the Beatmasher pro version of the Midifighter. If you want i can still upload it.

ParticipantCheck to see if within the AC3 tag of your songs have any weird characters…like weird symbols, writing in forign language, etc.
Traktor can only read characters that are normal symbols characters or numbers. If any of your tracks have anything written in the AC3 tag that is in an asian language or really weird blocks or anything like that then traktor will not read it. When you convert to an ACC copy im pretty sure that it will remake the song but does not necessarily copy all the tags and that is why the ACC version works.
This may not be the solution but check it out….it was driving me mad and took me like a week to figure out wtf was happening.

ParticipantLayer your songs…instead of just mixing song A with Song B…have songs C and D gonig as well.
For example…Have song A playing…32 beats before the breakdown add song B…when breakdown hits the drums snare and synths of song B will be layered with song A. Play with your highs and lows and maybe do a filter sweep and cut out the Bass of Song B when the the drop of song A hits, now u have 2 tracks going…song A has mid high and lows all around 12oclock give or take (proper eqing) while the mids and highs of song B are mixed with Song A (use your ears, if it sounds like shit well it probably does to the crowd as well) When Song B goes into a breakdown add in song C and slowly transition out of song A. rinse and repeat.
I often do this when im doing a banging club gig as you dont really want long winded breakdowns as its an easy way to clear the dancefloor lol.Keep stuff interesting…worst thing you can do in imo is standing there doing nothing and watching the crowd waiting for the song to end so you can play your next one.

ParticipantI have a Midifighter Pro BM with a custom mapping that i made and i will never DJ a CLUB gig without it again. It has totally changed the way i DJ…Being able to add multiple effects and sweeps while dropping new tracks is a total game changer.

ParticipantIll be totally honest…as most of you on here know…i can tend to be a dick from time to time 😀 😀 😀
http://www.picshag.com/no-requests.html
With that said…this translates into my shows…I am a Club DJ…and no i dont take requests…no dont even ask, and no dont even try to come near my DJ booth, unless u have really nice boobies…ill listen to your request…but i probably wont play it.
No one should ever be stepping into your DJ booth without your consent…PERIOD! Do not let punters touch your equipment EVER…they have no idea how much it costs and have no idea what the hell any of it does…so they have no right to be anywhere near your DJ booth.
Being friendly doesnt mean getting walked on…this is your job what you do to get paid, you dont go up to a server and say hey your serving wrong you should do it this way…they have no right to ask you of the same thing.
There are 2 different CLUB environments…first the EDM club…most punters know better than to ask an EDM DJ for a request…for a TOP40/Urban club DJ its a little different as they are usually playing radio hits and will get asked for songs frequently.
In Direct Response to the OP…we had a similar situtation the other week where this dumb ass kept on trying to DJ on our equipment, he kept stepping into the booth and at one point he even tried to push the DJ playing away from the decks…It is unfortunate to say but the bouncer ended up grabbing him in a choke hold and dragged him outside…
Moral of the story i guess is you are dealing with drunk people…and well they do stupid shit.

ParticipantTerry is totally right.
There is no difference between a Controller vs CDJ and mixer…if you dont use sync…bigger wave forms and more information…but the basics of mixing do not change. If you think this is something that you really want to get into in the future then you can upgrade to a full CDJ setup

ParticipantThere is no discount for anyone i do shows for it doesnt matter…I do this as a business…yes i do it for the love of music first…but it is a business…im here to make money utilizing the talents i have spent years on perfecting…They are obviously making money on you since they are the promoter…so fair is fair…on the other hand…if i am given more than adequate benifits…ie big guest list, big bar tab then i will cut them a deal…but fair is fair and you gotta give to take and take to give.

ParticipantThe Laptop you have is more than capable for DJing.
The Best thing to do is reformat it and dont use it for anything else except DJing and you shouldnt have a problem
The issue with Cracks and pops can be a multitude of reasons and will just be a matter of trouble shooting the problem drivers.
The best thing to do is use LatencyMon and find what drivers are causing the errors and fix them.
My current Laptop an Alienware M15x had massive dropouts/clicks and it was just a matter of fixing them.
I also have my Backup DJ laptop which is a 4 year old toshiba that i bought for 200.00 bucks and it still works perfectly…but is not powerful enough for me to run both my Vjing program and my DJing program in sync so thus i had to upgrade…but for just regular djing and really cheap laptop will do the trick.

ParticipantWell i guess it is DJ gear…but i use my Ipad with Lemur OS for more control over samples and Effects….its Teh SEX…
Other than that…I use my iphone as well when i have to mix into someone doing straight vinyl.

ParticipantOne quick thing i want to add to this…is the venue and genre you are mixing has a huge impact as to how you prepare your sets.
The things i mentioned above are more for the underground music where i am creating my own sound using underground/semi-underground songs.
When you are doing other styles such as top40/commercial stuff there really isnt my prep i do…well thats cuz i also rarely EVER play gigs like this and i always ask for premium dollar for them…i will…but i usually just have a list of all the top club bangers/remixes of bangers and play what i feel like when i feel like…by feel like i mean reading the crowd…how many women are on the dance floor and what songs i have already played…IE if lots of women on the dance floor and i havent played a track with a lot of vocals ill drop a vocal track cuz…well Ladies love the vocals.

ParticipantI’ve had my HDJ2000s for about 2 and a 1/2 years now…not a single thing wrong with them…other than the fact i have had to replace the cable because of my dog…but thats a totally different story.
People say the HDJs are too expensive and that they break easily…YES they are expensive…but being all metal is going to cost a lot more than plastic…and i have yet to see ppl actually break these damn things.
So u can pay 100 bucks every 6 months or just spend the big investment and reap the rewards of not having to breakin new headphones, having to search for something better than the last ones u bought etc!

ParticipantIf you are used to a traditional mixer do NOT get the S2…main reason…shift + Gainknob Filter Pots…the rotarys for the filter are not smooth and click…this can lead to the filter being more choppy than a smooth sweep etc.
I freakin HATE that about the S2.
The Cheapest and easiest solution for a controller that doesnt have XLR like the S4 is to get TRS to XLR cables…they are really cheap and imo you should never leave for a gig without them.
I always keep:
1 – RCA Daisy Chain cables
1 – RCA to XLR cables
1 – TRS to TRS
1 – TRS to XLR
1 – RCA to Digital cableThis way no matter where i go i can always plug into something…be it a bar, club, house party etc.

ParticipantThere are lots of ways to do this, but it’s specific to what genre of music you are mixing. Hip hop or top40 usually it’s just a quick cut on the end 32 beat of the first song and on the 1 of the 2nd song. Another thing u can do is use loops, create a 16-32 beat loop before the vocals of your 2nd track to mix in, then turn the loop off just as the vocals of the first song ends and sw in the vocals of the 2nd track.
There’s lots of crafty things u can do with effects, using an echo fade of the 1st song as u bring in the 2nd song works rather well in this situation, or a filter sweep. I don’t advise using effects for transitions until u have properly done transitions using mixing techniques though
