ParticipantFrom the sounds of it you are getting buffer under runs…try doing a couple of things: Increase the buffer size to 192 or 256, and increase USB Buffer to 1-2ms…you want to keep your total Latency down to the MAX 10ms.
As well download LatencyMon…and have it running in the background to determine where you are getting the buffer under-runs.
It may be just a matter of downloading the latest drivers for a certain thing

ParticipantYes you can.
I dont use mac however so i dont know how its done on a mac.
On PC you can do 2 different ways, drag the songs into a playlist within itunes, and then refresh your itunes library in Traktor
Or option 2 is to use the right window where it shows your playlist and navigate to your harddrive then to were you download music and then hit refresh.

Rokit 5s will be completely fine for what u want them for…Rokits are GREAT DJ monitors…they produce a little too much low end, so its perfect for a small setup where u dont want things super loud.

ParticipantI think ur missing the point….I could DJ a whole night using my shitty JVC Marshmellow Earbuds…but i dont…its not the right tool for the job. With Beats you are paying for the name not the Quality. Use some HDJ2000s and you will notice a complete difference in quality.
Hee Won Jung
ParticipantThis is the difference between Consumer and Professional gear.
Let me put this in perspective. The Beats Studio/Pro is like a Ferarri….Where as real DJ headphones, like the Ultrasone Pros, or HDJ2000s, ETC. are like Pick up Trucks.
Now which one would you use to goto work?
Use the Right tools for the right job…
DiBartdi, post: 31314, member: 4249 wrote: The build quality is unmatchable
Actually the build quality on the Studios are prone to breaking, and the Beats PRO weight like a sack of hammers, and are extremely uncomfortable due to the fact that they sit on the ear oppose to over the ear like the majority of DJ Headphones.
The Fact that it uses powered Noise Cancellation is also a minus, you NEVER want anything interfereing with the music you are listening to. Batteries cost additional money that is a waste.
a million more pages can be found like this one regarding the durability or lack there of of the Studios.
http://www.head-fi.org/t/483167/beats-by-dre-studio-durability
Now the PROs are all metal construction so they do have better durability but they are still prone to the issues above.
I dare anyone who has the PROs to wear them on their head for 4 hours straight and see how good your head feels.

I rarelly stop to count bars, I think its by far better just listening to the tracks, instinctvly stomping your feet to the ryhtm and just knowing when the bar or phrase is goin to start and end. Another thing you can do is count in your head 1, 2, 3, 4 1,2,3,4Well as a Beginner you NEED to count…eventually it will become second nature…To this day i still count…but im not going 1 2 3 4…im just tapping my feet and listening to the music…I instinctively know when my changes, drops etc are going to happen.
The Biggest lesson I teach any new DJs is remember 4 on the floor…4×4 is all EDM…just at different tempos.

But nobody’s mentioned what I think is the easiest way to get past your frustrations for the next 10 gigs: Change the “Me vs. Them” attitude. Isn’t going to help you. Your DJ career will be short and bitter.Do you absolutely hate every big hit song out there? If not, why not? If you’re a DJ, your music tastes are broader and bigger than the average punter.
I think that there has to be a line established out there. Personally I take all types of gigs…but I dont say yes to all gigs…I wont DJ at Chart Clubs (top40 Clubs)…i just wont…or Hip Hop nights…thats not how i DJ there are plenty of good Hip Hop DJs that can do a way better job at it than i can and i dont have a fun time and it totally takes the enjoyment out of what i do.
However i will Take on Weddings, Proms, OutDoor events etc. But i dont take these because i enjoy them…i take them because they provide a LARGE chunk of income compared to the club scene.I think you need to be able to expand your horizons but dont ever do a show that you dont really want to do…The Crowd will see it and you just wont enjoy yourself.

ParticipantThere are a few options here:
With in your deck settings there is an option to show beats, and beats to cue point.
With that said…just count the beats yourself…If you dont know a song well enough to know where the breaks, breakdowns, switches etc are in it…then you shouldnt be DJing with it.
As well another option you have is on each deck there is a small + and – on it…you can use it to zoom in and out of the active portion of your waveforms.
I have over 2000 tracks that i actively gig with…and no i dont memorize all of them…but i just “know” when the breakdown is going to hit…Start Djing without looking at your waveforms…it will get you in the habit of just knowing your music.
I think this is one of the biggest issues with pure Digital DJs…they rely too much on the technology rather than using the tools already provided…(im talking about your ears :d)

ParticipantSell your BeatsPro and with the $400 go buy 2 6″ Rokit Monitors…with the left over 100 bucks go buy some real DJ headphones. Then you have everything you need to practice at home.
Then make sure you have all the proper cables you need to connect to any system.
But yeah…Beatpros are imo a joke for Djing…Accent the Lows WAAYYY too much…with muddled mids and over accented Highs.

ParticipantIm really really really lost to what you are actually trying to do here.
First off using Itunes you need to properly ID3 tag your tracks…then there is a search on the top right where you can find any of the songs you are looking for.
Itunes is by no means “slow” on a decent computer PC or Mac…I myself use a PC and i have itunes on all 5 of my computers with no problems on any of them.
Try and use Traktor…there is a search function within Traktors library management and it will pick up any songs based on any words ever used. You can download a free 30 day trial of the Full Traktor Pro 2 software.
IE:
Song is – Avicii – Levels – fat rat remix.I can type in “rat” or “levels” or Avicii any of the words above and it will narrow my library to all the songs that have the word “rat” in it for example.
Is this what you are looking for?
Hee Won Jung
ParticipantUsually All the unfriendly DJ tracks that are chart toppers, have remixes…like a million different remixes.
As long as the song has a good catchy beat/drop the punters dont care what you are actually playing. As long as they hear…im sexy and i know it or the levels jingle they will go nuts.
I actually did this at a gig a while back…where i had short 8-32 beat acapellas of All the top 40 tracks set with Keys…and whenever a breakdown happened or just before a drop i would find an acapella in the same key and throw in one of these acapellas, and just kept playing my electro/complextro music and the whole crowd went bazonkas over it…I even had people coming up to me asking what remix that was…i told them it was mine….lol.
Moral of the Story…punters want something familar to connect with…other than that have fun with what you love…cuz 90% of them dont know the difference between the 2.

ParticipantMarcelo Neri, post: 31260, member: 4405 wrote: Hee Won Jun, what you said is just to put songs in beatmatch and phrase matched. Ok! I can do this on Traktor but and then? How many beat jumps to “pull” the CUE point to the right place? See my point?
And more:
Still on VDJ, sometimes even matching those 1sts beats, and jumping by 16 beats (at a time), I just go closer, not accurate. So I got to keep beat jumping just one beat at a time time to “pull” the CUE point to the right place. Thanks to the overlapping wave forms I can fix it at time.
That happens ’cause sometimes songs are not 4/4 (“quaternário” in latin), or whatever.
I mean, in Traktor I didn’t see yet a 100% secure way to make this kind of advanced mixing technic without error…
Thanks anyway.Okay i think you are missing what Quantizing really does.
Here is my workflow: With Every song that i have I setup up Cue Points. Normally My cue points are as follows:
First beat of into, 32 beats after first into, 1st breakdown(Chorus), The Drop(body), 2nd Breakdown, 2nd Drop, 64 beats before the end of the track, 32 beats before end of the track. This gives me a total of 8 cue points. If there are iconic pieces within the song i may not set cue points for the outtros and cue point the iconic pieces. I do this so that i can mix in at any point of a song, as well i can jump and do live edits on the fly, eg…I bring in the 1st breakdown…and as it is about to go into the Drop i cue point to the 2nd Drop, to cut out the first drop and will make my mixing into the track a lot easier.
Now with Quantizing, what this does is…if your beatgrids are set properly, when i jump to ANY cue point i am still right on beat.
Using this method you do not need to have your songs sync’ed as the quantize feature will keep your songs on beat once they are beat matched.
After its just a matter of counting…when i know that the first track is coming to the 1st beat of 32 i will bring in song 2 by hitting the cue point that i already have set on the 1st beat. Now there are some tracks that may do some really off beat crap or drops not on a 32nd beat. This is where the beatjump feature is really handy…I can move up or down 1-32 beats depending on how much i am out of PHRASE.
Beat = 1, Bar = 4 Beats, Phrase = 32 Beats
If you need me to upload a video of this i can…but i think its pretty self explanatory.

ParticipantMaybe someone with some experience with the cable stuff..NewportDrew might know the difference, but i was told that high impendence xlr should only be like 25 ft and low impendence xlr can go up to 250 ft. What exactly is the difference.
From what I know…This is one of the big reasons why people use Passive sound systems as they want to keep all their XLR connections below 25ft and use the Appropriate speaker cables for bassbins and Monitors and that those cables can go upwards to 500 ft if necessary.
so like what i thought and in my mind totally made sense is:
———————-less than 4ft ——————–up to 25ft ———————————————Up to 500ft.
