ParticipantThere’s been some discussion of this in other threads for laptop recommendations previously. Rather than re-typing here is the link to the list of reasons why I prefer Macs:

I run CCleaner to clean my hard drive and registry. It’s freeware.
I then defragment my hard drive.
At the gig, I disable the antivirus and the wireless.
Other than that, I try to keep bloatware and unnecessary stuff off my laptop. I make sure installed programs aren’t running processes in the system tray. Many of them aren’t necessary.
 Are you joking?

The tune was influenced by Gypsy music from the Balkans. After it came, there was a glut of imitations like that we speak no americano.

DropBox is best bet, get as many of the discs in the 2gb as possible, once full then copy it to your hard disk and delete whats in the dropbox and start all over again with the remaining disks. An alternative is to use Mixcloud – its free and a user can upload as many mixes as they wish. However, the file size limit is 100mb and has to be MP3. You could get your mate to upload his mixes a disk at a time, though when he rips them to mp3 he will need to adjust the quality setting. I use LAME to encode to mp3 from audacity and the VBR setting 2 or 3 should get a cd length mix under 100mb. My most recent mix was an hour and a half and I got that down to 96mb using setting 4 or 5 and even that sounds good through my hi-fi speakers.

ParticipantMy only feeling about DJs not appearing in such lists will mean that club promoters will look at the list and book the same old and there by perpetuating the problem, – its why I think the list is in a rut. I’ve even noticed Pete Tong radio show is much the same old – hardly a week goes by where there is n’t a track by sweedish moose mafia, afrojack or avicii or the likes there of. Its the same old keeping the same old going, locking things up to make more money.

I downloaded Ableton Live last night and watched a few demos on warping. Would it be possible to warp a song into a more uniform rhythm, then export it and import it to Traktor?
I don’t believe so. The warping in Ableton is done on the fly using it’s own engine. BTW are you analysing the files in traktor or just marking them with manual beatgrids?

Thanks, i’m going to spend rest of the day listening to forum members mixes, if you have one (I did a quick look, I could not find one), then can you post a link for me please?

ParticipantVery good deep mix :). I listen to Transitions when I can, as Digweed is one of my fav all time DJ’s. I hope to listen to more mixes posted here now that my backlog of mixes from other places is cleared.

ParticipantPre-gridding is not possible in traktor as the cue points etc are stored in a traktor library file, unlike Torq with its .tqd files. I dont know about serato though.

ParticipantJust to play devil’s advocate, surely is beatmatching all that much of a skill when it can be replicated with a click of a button? :p
Anyhow, when all is said and done, surely its the music that matters and whether people are having fun no?

ParticipantOn the flipside, when certain dance music does crossover into mainstream you also start seeing it being re-interpreted and refreshed too. It also forces the underground artists to withdraw and come back with something new again – as its only so far a subgenre like electro house can go before it comes stale anyway. The mainstream is also re-invigorated with new ideas and stop becoming stale.
So I think cross pollenating of genres can be good… just a thought.
