Some years ago I was lucky to get a new pair of Samson speakers for about 60€. (http://www.samsontech.com/samson/products/studio-monitors/media-one/mediaone5a/)
They’re quite cheap and provide a clean and powerful sound. Great for a dj setup at home or a small party…
Of course that speakers can’t be compared with KRKs (they are designed to be professional dj-monitors), but you may find that they are too loud for your environment (neighbours etc.). On the other hand, you can use the Samsons for monitoring all types of music while the KRKs seem to be designed for electronic dance music due to their extreme powerfull bass.
I wouldn’t recommend the Behringer ones at all, i’ve heard them several times and I didn’t like their sound at all.

It would be great, if DigitalDJTips could feature an article about equipment for bedroom-djs.
I believe a lot of us have to cope with volume issues when djing at home. (I got 30cm thick beton walls and sound absorbers on them. But the old grandma above is still complaining…) Make sure that it’s not all about volume and subwoofers.

I’m sorry for my bad english, but I’m german and atm it’s 08:50 on a sunday morning… 😀
