ParticipantAlso never heard of the Skill controller but googled it and looks like a nice buget controller and has a soundcard in it too.
But it might be a bad choice because of price, unknown manufacture, unknown build qualety. Besauce not many know about this controller is going to be hard getting an opinion based on use.
If it’s not good qualety and will break soon or not what you really want so you wasted the money that could have gone into buying a more expencive one.gullum
Participantwhenever I need to bring lights I always have some of my ADJ micro lasers and no mather how many lights I have they seam to get the atention 😀

ParticipantTraktor only stores them in the mp3 if you lock the beatgrid.

ParticipantBout of them are around 2 years old now but are really good controllers for Traktor. But since they were released Traktor has got lots of new futures added. you could also be looking at Mumark 4Track or the controller of all controllers Pioneer DDJ SX. Also the Vestax VCI400 is a verry good controller with lots of options.

ParticipantI’m using my own mapping but this is a verry good mapping for Traktor made by Viper https://maps.djtechtools.com/mappings/851
I’m not an fx junkie and I have an F1 also so I don’t need the sampler part of it 😀 I’ve mapped the sampler pads for beatgriding and slicer pads I’ve not mapped to anything yet. but with Vipers mapping you get everything Traktor hass to offer mapped out Flux mode, Post Fader FX lots of pre set FX combosgullum
ParticipantI’d also way wait for it you’ll totaly love it. There is no controller on the marked that comes even close to it. I have mine mapped to Serato DJ (ofcause 😀 ) Traktor pro, VDJ, Djay and Cross DJ(still not finished mapping it).
I DJ’ed friday and Saturday using the clubs DJM800 and CDJ 2000 in HID mode with Traktor, was going to use Rekordbox but the lan switch stopped working, and like better the DDJ SX over that setup.gullum
ParticipantI haven’t got anythink booked yet but I’m quite sure I’ll be playing

This is why i am so looking forward to getting my DDJ-SX
the output is so loud on the DDJ SX that I had to set the headroom in Traktor to -13db and master at 12 oclock 😀 and not go far beond 12 oclock on gain or master on the DDJ SX 😀 so ther is def power coming out

Participantsome might have them for the FX and/or better controlls over mic (some might need 2 mic’s) needing to be able to play cd, but it’s not needed if what you need to be done can be done with just laptop and controller.

ParticipantPlayed at a big sport hall this weekend using my DDJ SX with Traktor while the other DJ used 2 CDJ 2000 and DJM800.
Bouth of us used mp3 and there was no differance in qualetie.
But for mobile gigs a controller will do just fine but always good to have some kind of backup. Club DJ can also get problems using cdj’s and djm’s any electronics can malefunction.gullum
Participantthere is little unless you plug the S4 to a club mixer and have backup connected to it. The S4 does not work while not connected to laptop, so while you reboot you laptop the S4 will stop working for some seconds.

it kind of like many DAW work you need a usb dongel for them to work. I have Reason 6.5 it needs a dongle and to get the Line 6 pre sets from my line 6 pod to work in Reason. So that 2 USB ports just to run the program add a sound card midi keyboard and Maschine it’s fast to run out of ports.

ParticipantYes the VDJ Home can record audio but can only be controlled by mouse and keyboard. There Virtual Remote for iPhone and iPad also works with Home. But you could buy Traktor from Native instruments site for only €79 or $100 Traktor Demo works only 30 mins at a time then needs to be reopened 🙁
You can download VDJ home for free and play with it and record your mixes but you need to use mouse and keyboard. you can use controllers for 10 minutes at a time with VDJ home.gullum
Participant@Coltrane09,
The thing with Serato DJ is there are no demo versions the download is the full version, but when you buy a controller a part of the price is a licents to use the software so it will work only with suported controllers. VDJ home will let you record but you can use a controller unless you have and iPhone or iPad, to take full advantage of rekording and using a controller you will need a Pro version of VDJ. Traktor you’ll also need a full version to take advantage of everything if you plan to use it for more then 30 days. But Traktor is really cheep now and you get a full version with all their DJ hardware.
@Hee Won Jung I have yet to test it along side CDJ’s but in 2 weeks I’ll try the same setup you’r planing on getting I’ll bring the DDJ SX with me also so I can make a comparisone.December 3, 2012 at 8:12 pm in reply to: What Dj Software are you using and what Laptop spec are you using? #33071gullum
