This is how I’m setup at home and American DJ DJ stand that take about 1 minutes to put together or take apart. the Monitors are stands are made of parts from a T-bar and TV wall mounts (Monitors were attached to wall before) Latop stand is a K&M extension for a keyboard stand modified to fit the table.
It’s perfect for me and if I have several guests sleeping over it can be taken apart put in the corner so I have room for a foldout bed 😀
The DJ table comes in 2 sizes by the way and has a T-Bar I use the other larger one when I need to take a table to a gig.gullum
ParticipantRecently started playing out of town almost every weekend and have to drive between hometown and other city myself. I’m never home before 5:30 in the morning. Driving means no alcohol at all but this turns every gig that is 4-5 hour gigs + driving makes it 7-8 hours from leaving home till I’m back home. Lots of pepsi max and maybe 1 or 2 redbulls then straight to bed when I get home. My son wakes my up again around 10 so not much sleep.
But I’ve lived this way for a long time and have no problems with little sleep.
I think DJ life is something you get used to or it will wear you down in no time.gullum
ParticipantAs Terry said could be power related could also be computer related as you say the screen vent funny could be related to some background software interrupting

ParticipantMixvibes CrossDJ all the way it’s just miles better then the alternatives FX are not the best that are but of thoses SW you mentioned only Traktor has better FX.
CrossDJ is €40 and can be used with any midi controller (Though some need to be mapped by the user)
Cross is €80 gives all the same as CrossDJ but alt HID with all of the Pioneer CDJ line (USB connected) + timecode with any soundcard. Video plugin €80 but it’s worth the price
Traktor Pro2 €80 suports lots of controllers and can mapp any but only HID for CDJ 400, 900 and 2000 to get timecode you need to upgrade and get a certified soundcard/mixer.
Serato intro to SeratoDJ is €98 or with the Video plugin €150
Virtual DJ Pro €247 only version that lets you mapp, use Timecode, HID, use Video out in full screen. So no mather witch you choose Mixvibes is the one that can give you all options at the loves price and by the way they are also the once developing Rekordbox for Pioneer so you can import liberary from one to the other and keep the cue points and beatgrids.
P.S. When you think about it Mixtrack Mixvibes 😀 ohoo and did I say I like mixvibes

ParticipantI use Mixvibes Cross. I’ve because there is no match to it out there. I’ve tryed Djay,VDJ,SeratoDJ,Deckadance 2, Mixxx, Traktor.
Of all I’ve tried Traktor is the nicest alternative and has better FX then all other I’ve tried (But I’m not an FX DJ only use a little reverb(Ice Reverb) and echo freeze and Filter) Sampler is also better if you have an F1 or MF3d with out them sampler becomes almost usless. And after some time you get to reliant of the info on screen to mix (atleast I did)
Serato DJ there is only one controller that has the almost full version. DDJ SX is the only one that has all futures of the software whithout thee need for a second controller. VCI400 has no slicer and VCI380 has no sampler.
Deckadance 2 has some dam nice futures but verry few new controllers are suported and no midi out so you get no visual feedback from you controller witch makes it impossible to mix with.
Mixx well tryed it and just did not like it (No real reason was just not for me)
Djay is nice and I do like it but in some way it’s just to limeted to what I want to do and those visual turntables look stupid.
Virtual DJ also one of the better once but to get it to do what you want it to do, you need to learn alot about scripting and that not what DJ’ing is about.
Mixvibes Cross simple layout and easy to setup what you want displayed on screen. really good analizing and bestgriding function. Best smart playlist future I’ve seen. HID for all of Pioneer CDJ’s with usb connection 350>2000 nexus. any 4/4 soundcard for Timecode. Video plugin is also incredable separate video/audio loading so if your not a music video DJ you can still mix video visuals and normal music DJ’ing at the same time. And what I’ve got hints from their forum it’s going to get much more and better.gullum
ParticipantI’ve switched to Mixvibes Cross now going from Djay->VDJ->Traktor->SeratoDJ->Traktor->Mixvibes Cross.
I do feel much more connected to my music now then I’ve ever done with DDJ’ing. It is verry much like Serato in many ways but I like it million time more. I love the smart playlists. Only think that Traktor has better is FX and Sampler/remix decks (but only if you have an F1 or MF3d) with Serato I don’t see anything better.
Cross has hid suport for all of the Pioneer CDJ (with usb connection) it’s just getting better and better for every release and they are quite rapid.gullum
ParticipantJust bought Metabliss today because I cant to clear out unwanted coments and and stuff. I’ve moved over to Mixvibes Cross and want to start retagging my liberary because of the amazing smart list in Cross. It need to add a few things but for clearing out and changinge some of the Key info from Openkey to Camelot is was all I needed for now.

ParticipantI bought Mixvibes CrossDJ in desember but had some problems mapping it to my DDJ SX because for some reason it kept loosing my midi out mappings when I had cross and my XML editor opened so I went back to Traktor as I did not want to spend alot of time mapping CrossDJ to my DDJ SX because I’d rather spend time DJ’ing. But last week I only had one gig so desided to give CrossDJ one more go and started mapping the DDJ SX all over again after 2 days of mapping I was convinced what software I wanted to use from now on. Monday I upgrated my CrossDJ to Cross and It just suits me much better then Traktor. Traktor does have better FX and Sampler/Remixdeck (If you have an F1) but I only used the Remixdecks maybe 2-3 time while giging. Only FX I ever use are Echo Freeze and Ice reverb so I won’t miss to much frome there.
Beatgridding is miles better in Cross and the layout is also better (Key detection might be on the way seen hints on the forum) Liberary is also uncomparable better then Traktors. All Pioneer CDJ’s are HID suported in Cross.
Traktor is verry good software but after using it for 1.5 year I don’t feel so much connection to my music to much of my DJ’ing has become reliant to what info is on the screen.
Cross looks and works in some ways much like SeratoDJ bouth in colors and liberary. Cross for me looks more modern and not like a DOS DJ software (thats what I think every time I open SeratoDJ)gullum
ParticipantAny controller that sends midi can be used on any DJ software except Serato that needs a suported controller.
but if not natively supported you will need to find a mapp for it or do it your self.
I have the VMS4 not 4.1 and I loved it works grate for bouth VDJ, Traktor and also Cross DJgullum
ParticipantIf you bought Traktor from someone that came with a controller you will need the serial under the controller it came with. So if the one you bought it from got it whit an F1 you need the serial from that F1 also for it to work.

ParticipantIf you are useing a Mac there is a program called Rekord Buddy that lets you sync your Traktor and Rekordbox liberary. So as I asume you have all your songs already beatgrided set hotcues in Traktor with Rekord Buddy you can sync them to Rekordbox and get all the cue points and info synched in one go. I’ve used it for some time now and it’s realy a good program for this.

Participantwhat is the problem you are having importing the vipers tsi? are you on a mac or windows? I’ve used my DDJ SX since november 12 with Traktor.I’ve used my own tsi since day one I had made most of the basic mapping before I had the controller.
To import the Viper mapper you need to use the import button on the preferance main screen and not from the dropdown menu in controller manager tap. Then in the controller mager tab make sure all the Pioneer DDJ SX in the dropdown have the in/out ports set to DDJ SX. I’ve tryed the Viper tsi on bout Mac and Windows if imported right it works perfect with traktor.
So keep you DDJ SX only thing that is better on the S4 is scratching in Traktor for everything else DDJ SX does better then S4 IMHO. -
