If you want to use Serato DJ you’ll need to wait untill desember before those 2 are suported but ofcause they bout come with intro so you’ll get used to some of the futures that Serato DJ has and all you liberary/cues and so is transferable. I’ve havn’t tried eater one but by the looks of them I like better the Denon. the layout is more logical. Numark has knobs inbetween buttons so they’ll sure be in the way more then you might like.
But this all MO without trying them

    @Marcelo Neri
Traktor can display the beat count 1.1.1 and you want to jump 16 beats thats 4 bars it would display 2.1.1 or you’d jump 32 beats you get 4.1.1. so you also get the beats counter like it’s ontop of most VDJ skins but unlike VDJ it also displays where in the phase it is. And no problem to have buttons for beatjump set to 16 beats and shift + same button to jump 1 beat.

One more thing I like about Traktor if you use several computers you can beatgrid and set all your cue points when finished then lock it and if you open it on an other computer with traktor it will only need to analize the waveform but all cuepoints will be there.
For us mac users that need to play on pioneer recordbox devices we have a program called Rekord buddy that can sync all you cue points from traktor to rekord box.

VST is probable grate to have and actualy there is a VST with all the Traktor FX but the thing with VST is it uses extra resources and is not garantied to work with every software, they cost extra, the free once are not always tested on a wide scale.

The comment made above comparing NI to Pioneer is exactly why i use Traktor and Serato…Here are to tools you need to do everything you want and then some…now spend the time to learn them.

And thats the reason why I’m using Traktor and looking forware to try out Serato DJ when I get the DDJ SX

IMO VDJ can do more then Traktor in most cases.
It has video, karaoke, custom skins, suports mostly all controllers and you can make it do almost anything you want it to. But to get it to act and look the way you want it to, you’ll need to learn scripting and xml coding.
Traktor on the other hand it more locked down and not as customizable. You get the option to turn on/off some of it’s UI and it’s also much easier to map. FX are also miles better in Traktor.
I would say for basic DJ’ing Traktor is a better choice you don’t need to learn things that have nothing to do with DJ’ing to get up and running. But if you just want AB mixing and don’t want to change anything VDJ is just as good.

Traktor is more like NI telling you (Like Pioneers does with CDJ’s and DJM’s) these are the controlls you need for DJ’ing.
VDJ is more like you tell me what controlls you need for DJ’ing.

    just my opinion.

If you go to a bar plug in a laptop or ipod and press play and leave not making any edits to you play list during the night. No I would not call you a DJ. your just a person who’s lending the bar your laptop/ipod (Music colection) for the night.
But if you are in the booth making changes to that playlist and maybe adding in some requests you are a DJ.
Are you a good DJ then? I or other DJ’s might not think so but your still a DJ.

I will say Mac because I use it the next will say WIndows because it’s what he uses. What do you need it to do? only use it for DJ’ing? want to play all the newest 3d shooters?
If you just want it for DJ Mac and Windows will do the job. But the windows one might need lots of cleaning up and optimising depending of blotware. If you plan to play newest and grates games you will need to get a Windos one because not all games make it to Mac.
If you want a laptop that is ready for DJ after instaling a DJ software and no more work you would be better of getting a mac

In one of the videos think it was djworx from bpm he mentioned that the filter could be hardware or software. but I guess it depends on input selector switch. I’m not 100% sure what you mean by switching from internal eq to external. But my VMS can also use external EQ witch is wat I’ve alwasy used and can also be set to bypass the EQ of the hardware mixer. I do guess if you can switch it’s done with a button press combination on startup like on the VMS.

I have 2 F1 and I’m about to sell 1 of them. I never bring more then 1 to my gigs now because there is realy little need in 2. You can switch between deck C and D so fast that having an extra is not needed unless you need to 2 remixdecks at once. Press shift and turn the selector knob once and you controll an other deck. About the S4, it’s a good controller but there are other cheeper and newer controllers that will be just as good.

I have the VMS4 and 2 Radius 3000 needing 2 flightcases to cary them when playing. The VMS4 alone weights 6 kg witch is about the same as the SX and I manily have the Radius 3000 for the larger pitch fader and Jog wheel. The DDJ SX is bigger then the VMS4 but still much smaler then my combined current setup. I will be bringing the DDJ SX to my gigs. The club I play most at will be getting 2 CDJ 2000 and a DJM800 within the next 2 weeks and will be the only club in my country that has a setup that is Rekordbox compatable. So I might just use them for some gigs but the way I’ve been DJ’ing the last 2 years I don’t think I want to skip using Traktor.

hehe I have it on pre order and I do want to have S(e)X with it 😀
I would also recomand getting the DDJ SX insted of DDJ T1
You get standalone mixer, Filter knobs, 8 Hotcues, more buttons, better looping functions, better Jog wheels, Aminium insted of plastic and some more for the extra €100.
