I’ve compleated about 90% of the defination file for VDJ and Vipers tsi looks to be realy good So I can unbox it and use it with Serato DJ VDJ and Traktor ๐

ParticipantFor starting out and wanting to use Traktor their are not many controllers better then NI S2/4 series. SO for me it’s also a no brainer

ParticipantI’ve also had the VMS4 almost 2 years and there are not many controllers out there that can be considered an upgrate future/price whise. Over the 2 years there are only 4 that I’ve seen as an upgrade from VMS4. They are VMS4.1 (only for the better sound) Numark 4TRAK,Vestax VCI400 and Pioneer DDJ SX (It’s what I’m getting) but these all cost quite a bit more then the VMS4. You could also add some controller insted of upgrating. So I’d say as Terry “What is missing from the VMS4” can it be added with an extra controller. Some of the comming Beheringer CMD controllers might be what you need to get that extra controlls.

Participantwell the wait seams like forever now ๐ I’ve made a basic map for Traktor witch I’ll finish when I finaly get the DDJ SX, But Viper has also got a tsi that I’ll try out. Anyway I’ve started on making a Defination and Map for VDJ too because it would be cool having a controller that I can controll all my DJ software with maybe I’ll even make a map for djay. But I should get mine today or tomorrow, if not tomorrow it want be untill monday ๐

ParticipantMy last once broke. The once I have now Philips SHP1900
Good: dam cheep. Sound loud
Bad: extreamly big, not foldable, only 3.5mm jack and look like they are going to break any minute.Holding on untill I can get the white HDJ 1500 but might just get the black because the philips suck so much.

Participantyou could also search for the track in finder and just drag it into รก playlist or even straight into a deck.
But even it there is internet connection at the club and someone requests a song I don’t have I simply say I don’t have it. I’m not going to download a song and play it unless it would be a song I know already.

ParticipantIf you want to go Serato the VCI380 might be your best bet. In spring 2013 all Serato suported controllers are geting Serato DJ suport. the VCI380 has hardware buttons for many of the futures offered by the new Pioneer DDJ SX and the upgrate(more like switch to Serato DJ from Itch) is free so no extra cost. VCI 300 MKII don’t offer the same amount of controlls for Serato DJ but will also get a free switch. The VCI400 on the other hand has 4 chanels and has more controls then the VCI380 and cost about the same, although it comes with Serato DJ Intro and the upgrate to Serato DJ is $199. They are all good serato controllers so it’s realy what you want from a controller 4 vs 2 chanell, hardware button for sampler and so on. I do think reading you demands of a controller the VCI380 would be best choice, but you might keep in mind that the VCI400 can have 2 audio sorces conected to channel 1 and 4 and use 2-3 for Serato( Or all 4 for serato DJ) The VCI 380 can also work as standalone but is only 2 chanells so to do the same you need to switch between.

ParticipantI’ll take it back then a little although most demo videos of scratch and NI S4 DJ use vinyl and most scratch videos I’ve seen using controllers have been on Serato.
Well after watching some of DJ Angelo’s videos on youtube it seams that he would chose vinyl over a jogwheel anyday but ofcauce if he gets payed to demo a Reloop controller he’s going to use the controller ๐gullum
ParticipantI’d be willing to bet the same and most true scratch DJ would probable be using timecode and would not touch the jogs on any controller.

Participant1. you will not loose the cuepoint (they will still be there if you open the song in VDJ) but they won’t transer to Traktor so you’ll need to set them again in Traktor.
2. MC3000 and 6000 will work just fine in Traktor you will not get the same scratch intergration as you’ll get from the jogs of the s2/s4gullum
ParticipantCalVic yes I have tried refreshing the traking page but it’s weekend and it still says Thomann and no movment at all so I just have to hope tracking don’t get updated during weekends ๐ and on monday it will say Denmark and beeing transported you my country ๐

Just to let you know that Pioneer are going to release a traktor mapping. But as well all know that most of the time mappings for other software can be dire and not as near adequate, but I would certainly be interested in the mapping you come up with Gulli.
Only a few more weeks now! Seriously looking forward to it.
I got the midi message shed from pioneer site so I’ve already started the mapping for Traktor ๐ but I wont have it untill erlies next monday so can’t test my mapping untill then. But everything is on separate midi chanels so there will not be a need to use many modifiers. What I’m doing now is just map everything as it’s already layed out.

That is just not so not true as you get older and DJ’ing for many years it’s the high frequencies in your hearing you’ll be loseing so headphones that boost the bass will make it even harder to beatmatch because you’ll only be hearing booom and no details in the Beats.
