Tried to reply to this on the main page but it disappeared so registered for the site. House music is about having fun. Keep playing even if its only for a little time during the week. Keep the interest in music up. This will stand you in good stead even if you move into production. People have different opinions on the best way to play. The only thing that matters is that others are dancing and you are having fun. You mentioned your dream to be an edm superstar, I don’t think anyone of them began with a hard nosed plan of world domination. The advice on this site is generally spot on, and is a good guide. You mentioned you had done a work related gig. While trying to break into the local scene why not organise a few more of these parties. Get a video done of the nights, edit the best bits against one of your mixes, put it on youtube etc and then play it to the promoters. Cant hurt and will be fun. Good luck.
