    Well

Well, I am not a musician nor a producer. My voluntarily work is some charity work.
My point just was: Everyone can decide if he/she wants to get paid for their work or not. If a musician or a producer wants money for their music, then taking it without paying is just thievery.

I am running Traktor 2 Pro on Win 7 64-Bit without any problems. Not a single crash nor any issues.
The main advantage to use a 64-Bit Windows is: you can use more than 4GB of Ram.
If you want to switch from a 32-Bit to a 64-Bit Window, you have to reinstall your Operating System and all your other Software. Quite a bit of work.
If you run currently Traktor on a 32-Bit-Windows without problems, there is also no need to change.

Of course not. I do some voluntarily work as well. But then I choose to do it without getting paid.
If someone will give his work away for free, for whatever reason, thats ok.

I work hard every day and expect to get paid for it, so I pay for my music as well (>150 GB of music, all legal, all paid for).
Ye, I know people as well who claim all should be free: movies, music, games…
I wonder what they would say if their boss said: ‘I expect you to work for free, all work should be for free, nobody should pay for any work done’. They surely would gladly agree, work for free, watch movies for free, get music for free, and live happily ever after…

Back on topic, sorry.. :-p. Wouldn’t one time payments of a handful of portable hard drives, say at 2 TB save more time and money in the long run?

Well, maybe its paranoia because of my job, we have ususally backups of important data on 3 different physical places.
And the easiest way to have a backup somewhere else without carrying harddrives to your friends places once a week/month, is to put it online. And usually all online providers store the data redundant on different hard drives, so a crash of one or even two harddrives do not put your data in harm.
And losing my music collection e.g. in a house fire would hurt as much as losing my home. (I put a lot of effort and time to build it. Well, my vinyl would be gone in a fire, however.
Its also maybe because of my age, I am still not used to the thought that all the music is still out there on the internet, and can be re-collected again if necessary. So for me, the feeling of safety is worth a few bucks.

Ah, yes, right, I forgot Platinium Notes. I use that as well, I doubted at first it would be of any use, but after reading some reviews, I used it with some old 256-mp3’s and the results just blew me away. Nowadays, I buy new tracks in flac or wav-Format. I was all those years a believer there is no noticable difference, but then I heard some of my tracks on a friends Highend Hifi gear. There is a difference, even I can hear it with my 50 years old ears.
But we made a blind test with my friends kids, which are in their early 20’s, they could tell the difference in 100% of the tracks, if we played mp3 or original wav-Files.
We should not forget, that a maybe much younger audience hear much better, than those of us past their 30’s.

I use both MiK 5 and beaTunes.
But I use both for different things: Keyfinding with MiK and keeping the metadata (tags) of my collection consistent with beaTunes (the Inspection-Function works great for me).
I also use the beaTunes color codes to find matching tracks, u could really get some interesting and unexpected playlists.
(not always, but still there are usefull proposal from beaTunes you could consider).
To get consistent results for your Keys u should only use one programm, they are both far from 100% accurate regarding key detection, but they are both consistent, meaning even if they detect the wrong key the tracks usally match more or less with the other tracks and similiar keys analysed with the same algorithm.
This is not the case if you use different algorithms to analyse your tracks.

I just bought recently two Reloop Contour Controller
    Review here: http://www.digitaldjtips.com/2010/12/review-the-reloop-contour-interface-edition-dj-controller/
There are two versions one with a built-in 8-out sound card (Interface Edition) and one without an audio interface.
The price was first at about 320€ for the interface Edition it dropped recently to about 145€ and 99€ for the Controller only Edition.
For the quality of the controllers its a fantastic price. Traktor LE is included.

As for now I use Traktor Pro 2. The reasons: the LE-Version came with an controller and I just bought the update. I like it because of its intuitive Gui (matter of taste, though).
Recently I got a copy of Torq 2 (with an XPonent-Controller). You guys should have a look at it, could be the new rising star in DJ-Software.
