ParticipantI do agree with the core & drivers plus side of everything being under one roof, that just makes sense, wether the materials used in 1000 windows laptop are less than a 2000 MBP, I need more convincing.
As a company I hate Apple for there bully boy business tactics, there refusal to allow so many aftermarket product to work with there products and what I believe artificially keeping there prices high, I do believe they make very good products, but I do not believe the products are worth the priced they charge.
With keeping everything under there control they have complete control of the prices, suppose it’s just pay up or shut upfunkymonkey1966@hotmail.com
ParticipantWell my Dell xps has an aluminum body and a backlit keyboard, the backlit keyboard being fantastic and would never do without again, it does have the worst power adapter connection I have ever have had on a laptop, I usually tie it up with a zip tie so it does not come loose.
The audio sound/drivers come from my “Numark 4 trak” latency running at 512, laptop has Intel i3 sunnybridge,4gb ddr3 ram, Nvida 512 graphics.funkymonkey1966@hotmail.com
ParticipantI agree Mista Clean! If it’s a heat issue then you can have the best laptop in the world and it won’t make any difference.
I found this simple idea on “Amazon” to let the laptop breath better, so I think I’ll give it a go.
Over MacBook’s, In the past I have had quite a few issues with Windows freezing and other buggs, it’s taken me some time to get my laptop tweaked to the way it is now, It just seems that after reading around that MacBooks don’t have the temperamental running issues of windows, especially when running software like “Traktor and Serato” If that is true? I have no idea, but 99% of all the working Dj’s won’t use anything else, maybe it’s just a fashion thing 😉
It very frustrating and just not good that when I go to do a show that in the back of my head I can’t trust my laptop, I always have a second laptop behind me with “Traktor” up and running.
There probably is no laptop that is 100% crash free, including “Richie Hawtin” and his top of the range McBook famous gig/you tube crash, but if I can go to a gig with peace in my mind then the whole evening starts stress free and more enjoyable.
Cheers

Participantwhat I meant to say is that I would love to get a MacBook Pro as they seem to be far more stable and less buggy than windows systems, but with the prices they are ( and a wife) there is not much chance of that happening, even second hand they are going for a lot of money and no guarantee what you are getting.
Are MacBook’s really so stable and better than windows or is it just hype?
Cheers

ParticipantThe laptop is sitting on a flightcase sliding shelf and it does get very hot.
It’s been a couple of months since I last did any dj work with the laptop, since then I have updated Traktor twice and have not updated windows since I reinstalled the whole laptop.
Cheers
