    Hi guys & girls.
I just signed up to this site to get some info & this is the first thread I came across & what a subject 🙂
I am 52, moved to France from UK with my lady in August 2010, became a dad again aged 50 in Oct 2010 etc etc etc
I love my music. 35 years ago I done some DJing, mainly Northern Soul & disco, the 70s lol…
Recently I sold off my vinyl collection but have in the region of 150,000 mp3 files, a mixture of everything but i’d say 70% is dance orientated, soul, funk, disco, latin, house, rare groove etc. Many friends who come to our house get blown away when I put some tunes on the sound system, they just love my collection of vintage soul etc…
Anyway, people have been trying to get me to DJ at small house parties and small venues, I have declined mainly because of my age, 52. The other day I was out & picked up a very cheap 2nd hand Hercules MP3 control mixer, got home and set it up with Virtual DJ. After a few hours of going through some great tunes, I thought, hmmmm, maybe just maybe i’ll give this a shot. I’m not predjudiced against any genre of music, I just love my rare grooves, I don’t want to be a fancy club DJ, beat matching everything that is 150bpm, I will just give people a sample of good ol’ funk & soul 🙂
Hey, at 52 i’ve been to lots of house parties, bars, clubs, raves. I’ve had plenty of great night & weekends & have some great memories, friends & stories 😉
As long as you love your music, you’re never too old. Just play to the right audience who’ll appreciate your style.
Now I have the bug again, i’ll invest more time, money & get a few venues in the good old South West of France and give them a taste of a 52 year old funker.
    Be good 🙂
