I just bought AV40 2 months ago. Their such good value for this price. They produce great sound in low, mid and high, also at a pretty high volume. (I play techno/minimal) I also love the size of it, not to big, not to small. They also come with a nice magazine that shows u how u can place and use them in the best way possible. Be sure to read it. U can’t go wrong if u buy the av40.

I use traktor because of the great oppurtunity of mapping, but this is exactly what i miss in traktor. It would be (for me) so much better if it had parallel waveforms. I dont understand why there isnt 2 or 3 standard lay outs like in ITCH. It’s the only thng that bugs me….

I use VDJ Pro so can’t comment on either controllers traktor intigration but because it says “reloop” on the side and not “Native Instruments” you can always assume it wont be great with jogs…

Thanks for the comment. Good to know the transport buttons aren’t really that good. I heard that its pretty hard to start with the reloop ME because its not really plug and play and the support is pretty bad… I think if I do save up a little more i’d rather go for the reloop digital jockey 3. But maybe thats way over my head…. at this point i can buy the reloop master edition for 200 euro, and thats about what i want to spend because its my first controller.

I’ve also read a lot of negative reviews about the master edition. To me it looks like a solid controller. Is it hard to set it up on your laptop with traktor?

the behringer isnt out yet, so there is no way u can get any usefull feedback about that controller. It does look very good and i was also hoping it was released earlier. The only thing im missing with the behringer is a gain control… really really don’t like that. Maybe u could wait for the Reloop Beatmix and try it out when it is in stores (about end of june) Otherwise i probably would choose the mixtrack pro out of the three u mentioned.

Sorry.. Maybe i should have given a bit more information about what i like in a controller, what my choice of software is and the kind of music i like to play. I’m a beginner DJ and looking to buy my first midi controller with a build in sound card .My choice of music is mostly techno, minimal, tech-house. My budget is around 200-300 euro. Right now i’m practising with a numark total control with traktor software. What i noticed with the total control is that its pretty cramped and dont fancy the jogwheels. What im looking for in a controller is a nice feeling of the knobs, they have to have some resistence, and smooth jogwheels that are spot on. I dont want a controller thats cramped, so it has to have a good layout like it has on the beatmix. Dont mind if the controller is big and heavy. I prefer one with total EQ kills and one thats able to use 2 effects at a time. I was also looking at the JB systems kontrol 3, but this can only use one effect at a time. Also looking at the behringer cmd studio 4A, but this seems to be missing a gain control… wtf? Other wise this would be perfect for me i think.

The reloop beatmix is available on the 25 of may here. (netherlands) I didnt expect it to have the same build quality as the TM4 but i think it has a decent build quality for this price range. Did not think it had a better build quality then the RL master edition, but maybe your right.

I love traktor software, but i saw some videos with the beatmix and VDJ and must say this looks pretty tight. (video @ 2:00) So maybe i have to reconsider my choice of software.

Theres also one thing i want to ask u guys. I’m curious what this beat-mash mode is about…? I got the feeling that this is a big aspect of this controller. I dont really know if this is something im looking for in a controller.

I really want that studio 4a, too bad it isnt on the market yet. The only problem with that controller is that i miss a gain control (wtf?) and xlr outputs. Hope that the gain control is on the real deal, because this is still a demo. Thinking that would be a good buy for your money.

hey guys, interesting thread! I’m a beginner as well and looking to buy my first controller. Right now i got the numark total control to learn on from a friend of mine. I already know i love traktor software so this is my choice. First i was thinking about JB systems kontrol 3, but this controller isnt mappable at this moment with traktor software. Next to that i tought about the kontrol s2, but is a bit too much money right now. Also i got my eyes on some bargaines for a reloop digital jockey 2 master edition. Any of u got some experience with that one or thoughts about it?Seems a good choice for working with traktor software.

The Behringer CMD Studio 4A i just discovered thru this thread simply looks amazing with great features. When will it be on the market and what is it going to cost??? edit: just saw it will be available in about 35 weeks… pff thats a long wait 🙂 how much is it going to cost?

the only thing I dislike as far as i can see now from the JB Systems DJ Kontrol 3 is that u can only use one effect at a time + i have to map everything for traktor software. The totall kills though is something thats not on the kontrol s2.
