If you are going vinyl in the club, of course then you need to do it totally manual. What I have found useful for beginners here is the following procedure:
– listen to the master track and tap the tempo with your foot
– put on headphones (keep tapping, it takes a bit practice to keep the original tap with your foot) and listen to new track
– try to get it as close to your foot tap as you can
Most beginners cannot hold the original tap with their foot first, but after 20min or so of practice you should be very close and go with nudging from there. With time you will get better.Sorry Terry my point is it is very difficult to get to BPM to match with out going off over extend periods I did mean That CDJ didn’t have a BPM count on them I have a 400 Because I love the roll effect And Ross I find my sync Button just fine in the Dark lol I bet It won’t even be one in ten you need 2 beat sync And 2 be honest you will be doing in the booth what is second nature as u will of practice the mix a 1000 different ways b4 u performing live It is all about knowing the tracks so u will know if u have 2 beat match manually

Hi Phil in a year I have moved up throw the controllers only because I got them at a good price I started on the Numark Total control Which was a good handy bit of kit 2 start off and I paid £22.50 inc p&p and then Moved on to the BCD3000 the sound card is good but not good to learn on as the EQ’s are laidout wrong horizontal instead of vertical like every mixer you will ever use and no lighting on it I am now using a vms4 which is a leap forward but I was ready for it.What about the new Hercules That looks like it will take a bit of beginner stick

Please someone help me out… if possible…
I bought a DDJ T-1… mostly because I wanted digital gear that was similar to the club standard of Pioneer. So that when I eventually got to play in public, I wouldn’t struggle too much with the transition to club gear. The DDJ T-1 is awesome, I am really enjoying every second of using it.
Now I have listened to what Phil said and I am practicing without using the sync button. Its mostly been going well and the more time I spend the better. I have got to the point where I can hear when the beats are out and with a bit of play on the jogs I get it in line… not always but mostly. I have no idea exactly what I do, I just know when it sounds right.
However, for the life of me, I just cannot get the pitch slider and BPM going at all. I have been using the BPM on screen, just so my practice can even progress but I just cannot get the BPM right. I really want to master the pitch slider. I often can’t hear if its too fast or too slow, unless its drastically out. I just feel like there isn’t enough time in a song for me to fiddle around and try and match the speeds.
Does anyone have any basic tips or suggestions for me to work on. I realize it all takes time but I need some direction.
Kind regards
Ross de Souza
Hi you will find it hard to get it exact mate if you watch DJ’S on CDJ’s they are always nudging them to keep time I would say if it sounds right it is right and the only way to Lock BPM is the Sync Button Practice Beat sync but don’t stop using the Sync button completely it is there so you can be more intuitive and Creative with your mixing without worrying about keeping both tracks in time.It is a good skill to have because sometimes the software just can’t do it but when it can let it and enjoy adding one shots or a third deck explore. Hope this has helped 80) Fitzfunk

MemberI got the same deal I found it hard to get on with at first well worth the time mapping it yourself I learned so much about traktor 2 by doing this now everything is where I want it. What I would say is if you do get it. Load the firmware at least 3 times it seems 2 have a memory cap and remembers more each time the same with the mapping even when you have your own map in place it remembers the geniric map the first few times which can get frustrating as you will have 2 things mapped 2 one key so you can press a button say play on A dec and the screen will toggle as well. And the Balance output Leads Are well worth investing in £8 from Gear4music.com. But you won’t get a stronger more versitile controller in this price bracket The Beauty is it does not do it for you but responses to what it is told and 2 how it is set up meaning you have 2 learn I have been DJ-ing less than a year and this is the quality of mixing I am achieving http://www.house-mixes.com/profile/fitzfunk/play/club-vibe Now
