Yeah I like it, and can’t see myself selling it. Kinda wish I had got the s4 though due to it being able to be used with TT’s. But i love my S2 too much to upgrade. Think I am just gonna save up and get a Z2 and 2 TT’s as I am desperate to get into TT’s. Never thought I would, as they can do less, are bigger, expensive and require more maintenance. But I had some cheap ones and just loved the feel. And yeah I use the F1 for 1 remix deck and as an effects pad, and only just got the X1 so not sure exactly what I am gonna use it for yet.
VCI-400 looks nice though, let us know how you get on with it 🙂
(I know it seems like a buy a lot of gear, but I just poach ebay, buy 2nd hand, have a play and see if I use it or not, and then sell it on if I don’t. Made money on everything so far. But the S2 I bought new and plan to keep for as long as it lives)

MemberSorry I didn’t mean to sound short. If it was bought in January, it should still be under warranty. You could try recalibrating the buttons which you can do somewhere in Traktor settings I think. I haven’t come across this issue with mine, so may be a faulty machine or a loose connection. Opening up the machine will void all warranty so I wouldnt advise that

MemberNever used VCI-400 so I can’t comment on that.
I think DDJ-SX is a dream. Had a play on one the other day and love it, but I like my S2 too much just to up sticks and convert. I also have a (personal) issue with using controllers designed for one software with a different software, as I always feel they will never reach full potential, but that is just me.
I have an S2, F1 and X1, and really can’t fault NI hardware. I know lots of people have had issues, but for me they have been brilliant.
All in one solutions are great, but they also tie you down. I like my setup at the minute, because depending on what the event is I can take as much or as little as I fancy.
On the other hand if you get an all in one with standalone mixer functionality you can add TT’s.
You also mentioned trying out the remix decks. The only way to control these properly is by using the NI F1.
Most importantly, if you have a shop near by where you can go have a play on all the options then that would be ideal as it is all down to personal preference.
Just be careful with what the sales assistants recommend as they have a less impartial view than people who won’t profit from your decision.Ess Jay
MemberNot unless they are really really long. RCA will be absolutely fine for home use

MemberAs far as the guide being outdated, it really isn’t.
If you are wanting to use Traktor, have you thought about the NI controllers? S2 / S4?
I started on the Mixtrack pro (very similar to number 2) and loved it. Allowed me to try serato and traktor. However, I ffelt I grew out of it fairly soon so moved to an NI S2. Very intuitive, and kind of wish I had started with this.
No experience with the DDJ T1.
Are you looking for 4 channels or not?

MemberAs far as vocals clashing go, they are the bane of my djing life ha. You just need to know your songs and try and not mix when 2 vocals are occurring. Create loops extend intros and delay the vocals coming in, or set cue points so you can jump back to a part of the song without any vocals.
Also, if serato has a post fader delay, just turn that on on full a few beats from where you are wanting to mix out, then pause the track, and it should give an echo freeze effect like the one in Traktor.
As far as phrasing goes, you seem to understand it. Just try and avoid too much going on at once.
As far as changing BPM, sometimes just grabbing a loop and increasing the BPM rapidly up (or down) to the required BPM gives a cool effect of urgency
And worst comes to worst, I would happily take the DDJ-SX off your hands 🙂
DJing is not all together a complicated science. Just stay with basics until it sounds decent.
