I am slightly worried about the size and weight.
Also, as it is coming up to being 2 years old, will there be something newer coming out at the start of 2013?

MemberI am not a big headphone expert, but I use the Numark Red Waves, which IMO have been worth every penny. They are a lot of plastic though, so I am quite careful with them. They look cool too. I couldn’t decide between these and the Zomo ones, but they seem very similar.

MemberI feel exactly the same, except I don’t do production, so feeling pretty lost at the moment

MemberPlayed one of my first gigs last night on a boat party.
All the crowd wanted, and reacted too was top 40 and cheesy songs they knew. So I ended up doing fade in fade out and fairly simple mixes for music I am not a massive fan of.
It was a big learning curve for me, as going into the event with big songs and clever mixes with nice drops and breaks, I ended up being, according to this thread, a “Fake DJ”
And it saved me

MemberI started a few months ago with a £150 mixtrack pro, which maps nicely to traktor. If I had a bit
More money I would have got the s2 though, and then traktor pro would have been free. After a lot of practice and messing around, I realised I prefered the cue point juggling and playing with effects, to scratching and just standard mixing, so purchased a kontrol F1 to compliment my gear. If I’d have preferred scratching I may have gone a different route.
Overall though I am massively pleased with my mixtrack pro, and would be quite happy using this for a while yet, as so far, with a bit of cheeky mapping, I am yet to find a way that a much more expensive mixer would further my skills massively.

MemberThe beatmasher effect can be used if fully wet, to work as a loop which still plays the song in the background. I use it for this purpose and works a treat. Just play around with it a little to learn its parameters

MemberI listened to 2 of the sets and enjoyed it thoroughly. Looking forward to having some input at the next event

MemberThis sounds like a great idea, never done anything like this, but would be up for it, and mainly mix commercial house and dance music

MemberI’m also from Sheffield and relatively new to djing, so seems like we are in a similar boat

MemberCheers for the in depth reply. Yeah, I did realise that when I was listening back, that it was uneven how long I left the songs on for. I just had it in my head that I wanted a 5 minute one and jumped at the opportunity to transition. And yeah, Fade Into Darkness definitely deserves more time, but I couldn’t resist having it fade away whilst those lyrics were playing.
I will give yours a listen now.
See your from Newcastle, I have my first gig up there in October.Ess Jay
MemberI know this is a longshot btw,
But does anyone from the UK have any Chroma Caps or spare Chroma Caps they want to sell?
Ess Jay
MemberYeah I enjoyed that.
Although I listened after reading this thread, so I just imagined someone closing a door through the whole song 🙂Ess Jay
MemberI tried to change my avatar and I am also having the same problem
