Any chance you have a link to that Chuck? Also the White ones look tacky (just my opinion). Pioneer gear can be bought much cheaper in the US, but that doesn’t make much difference to the UK market.

Look on gumtree UK Chuck (Craigslist for UK) and my 350s for £700 are the cheapest in the UK! Just saying…

The cheapest you can find them for in the UK is at £527 each, which when working with £700 you are saving over £300 and buying at 2/3 RRP which is generally what pioneer CDJs keep their value for. In 5 years time they will probably only drop down to 50% price, just look at how well the cdj 400s sell, and these are arguably worse than the 300s and older.

If you want to get comfortable on CDJs, then I really see this as the best way to do it. Buy 2nd hand, use for a few months, sell for what you bought them for, and in theory you have rented a pair of CDJs for free.

I honestly much prefer my Traktor set up, but I could now smash a set out in a club using USB or CDs.

I’m not trying to rip any one off, and people are welcome to make offers!

Sorry for going a little off topic, but I think protectionism is killing the world and also the global economy. Europe have a similar policy where they were subsidising each cow the equivalent of $2 a day.

This is more than a vast amount of human beings live on.

In theory if all trade was free (which it isn’t and won’t ever be) then supply and demand would create “fair” and “true” prices for all goods.

Ultimately we are faced with one huge prisoner’s dilemma game (look it up, it’s quite cool), where each country decides to protect itself rather than act (in the words of Grindelwald for you Harry Potter nerds out there) ‘for the greater good’.

God I hate Economics, but couldn’t resist joining in

Ha whenever I get an email saying “Chuck has replied” I know I am in for some educational reading.

Thanks very much, I really don’t think I will move them much at the moment, and although that table looks useful, I have my heart set on a more stationary desk, might build and Ikea one like seen on DJtechtools

Yeah, I got some modified and custom painted 1210s and a Z2. Got the price drop refunded too, so I have spent £1500 on my dream setup. Got another £500 to play with so Think I am gonna build myself a desk and also get some nice speakers as I am currently using £30 logitech 5.1s. I don’t know whether it is worth investing in a flight case or not, and if so, individual ones or one coffin one?

And it means for my 21st, when other people are getting cars etc, I am saving up enough to get a nice DVS setup and kick start my vinyl collection

My custom 1210s and NI Z2 should be here in a couple of weeks. Reading this is just getting me more and more excited. God I love being 21.

slipmats don’t communicate with traktor. The needle and the control vinyl send timecode signal to your DVS box and traktor.

Just get a cheap mixer. If you are in US you can get a decent Stanton one for $30 off of one site!

and as far as TT’s go, just make sure you get direct drive

    What controller do you use?

Your options are Traktor, Virtual DJ, and Deckadance

    and a few others

As long as a newer model isn’t released in the 6 months you have them, they should barely depreciate in price at all

I (briefly) had the Jockey 3 ME and it was really solid build and a nice feel to it. I got rid of it cos I was sick of messing around trying to update the firmware which didn’t seem to be playing ball.

If you don’t need jog wheels, a couple of X1’s or Xone K2’s are also a choice. Reloop Contour as well if you want a jog wheel.

I was in a very similar position (although slightly older). What one of my friends did which I wish I had the balls to do, was bought 2nd hand pioneer 1000 MK3’s, practiced on them for 6 months, got comfortable on them, and then sold them on for the price he bought them for (well £20 less). So in practice he rented a pair of top of the (previous) range pioneers which sell for near £1000 for 6 months for £20. If you have the available funds, and buy in good condition then you are laughing.

Do not over complicate it. Have a rough idea of what you want to play, but make sure you can adapt. It is all about music selection so that is key.

and most importantly. Play what people want to hear!
