Well, I have to agree that the gyro feels a bit silly.
I’m sure there is a time and place for it to use but it’s nothing for me.
That doesnt mean it’s a junk….but for me it’s just simply a nice technical gadget nothing more.

    Update:
I’m just happy and I would like to share it with you guys and specially with Phil as DDJT has a big part in this.
A web radio station has started to play my mixes and ppl are asking for more and where they can find them on the internet. Usually 200 ppl listen the program.
A very big thank you to Phil with his dedicated work and all the ppl on the forum with their comments and help that made me explore more and more of this wonderful world of digital djing.

Before I’ve got my Mixtrack pro I was watching videos on youtube about how to mix and so on. So when I opened the box and hooked up everything I felt I know everything and when I press the play button I’m gonna be like a DJ God.
10/10 on that everything worked out of the box not a single hick up, so that was a positive thing.
1/10 on that DJ God thing since I had not a single idea what was I supposed to do when I opened Traktor and looked at the screen. Beat griding and such things were totally unknown for me.
After few hours messing around in Traktor and getting used to the controller I started to feel more confident.
It’s a very good memory that day….at the same time I’m angry with myself because if I knew that I know now about myself I would have start with this kind of things 10-15 years ago and who knows what would I do today. 🙂

I can only comment about the CD Pool Sixpack that I’ve been using for 6 months now.
When you start subscribe I think I was able to d/l the last released package. I’ve never asked but maybe it’s worth a try if you can have access to older releases.
I like very much the randomness of the songs. Honestly I’ve came across songs that I liked very much and probably I would have missed if it wasnt for this service.
They never asked and I have never needed to prove that I’m a real DJ or not.
The songs are in 320 kbs quality and (since we are talking about ddj) most of the time traktor analyse them perfectly so almost no extra work required on them.

I just noticed that I managed to copy the same url 2 times so here is the other link I was supposed to post:
    http://www.cdpool.com/
I’ve never used this one but I know Ellaskins (djtutor) on youtube has posted some videos about this service and he use it as well.

I’ve got my S2 last week. Ean’s mapping is nice but sadly it’s still full of bugs and looks like updates are not so fast to come out. Ofc you can find some tips on their forum about how to fix some of the biggest bugs but it’s still way too much extra work tbh.
S2 is a very nice controller and I enjoy to use it very much!

I used Mixtrack pro for 5-6 months. Now with the price drop on S2 I decided to jump on that train. Since 5 days back I’m a happy owner of an S2 and it’s a really-really nice controller.
    So I would recommend it!

Tbh if I think back what could have been the first step that made me think about dj:ing is DJ hero for me, too.
Somehow that made me think about how cool things you can do with music that I never thought about before.
2nd step is my ex-gf who was dj few years ago and 6 months ago I wanted to surprise her with making some mixes.
I started to read articles, watch videos (one of the biggest source of info for me was this site+forum!) and ordered a controller.
The surprise didnt work out too well….instead of a happy face and a smile her comment was “Ah! You want to be a dj to **** girls!”
I didnt understand the comment since 1: I didnt want to **** anyone else but her, 2: I didnt plan to be a dj.
I’m not a dj…I just make mixes that I like to listen and as a bonus I got positive feedback from ppl asking when the next mix gonna be done, ask me to make them cd and the latest thing for me that some internet radio stations play my mixes.
I had no idea such things could happen to me 6 months ago!

My thoughts about that so debated SYNC button.
Without that button I wouldnt be here, that is the simple fact.
I always looked my self as artisticly handicaped person. I cant paint, sing or play instruments.
So when I got the idea to think about music and I started to read about dj and listened my (now) ex-gf about her time when she was dj I started to be a bit scared about beatmatching and such stuff.
When I got my Mixtrack pro I saw all the hate posts on the internet about the sync button.
Simple fact without that button I wouldnt be here but I would have stoped after 1-2 hours of disaster.
That button helped me to start….made me to be interested about what I was doing and made me to practice beatmatching by ears and so on.
So I’m thankful for that button that’s for sure!
It’s a tool given to us by the ppl who make the softwares….not using it if you want is like refuse to use the elevator when you help your friend to move to the 10th floor, just because that makes you less person so you rather use the stairs.

It’s matter of taste and the show.
You think a dj who is on the tour 10-11 months with the same gig almost every day gonna play the mixes live? They go pre-recorded and just put some effects and samples on it to sound slightly different compared to the day before.
They make the show and they have to give you the impression that they do everything right then at the spot.
About “playing a fake set they might as well not even be there”…..I have 1 word for this: Kraftwerk 🙂

You can hate anything you want and you can like anything you want. It’s your opinion.
So long you dont try to force your opinion onto other ppl it’s fine…when you do that then you got issues.
So hate whatever you want but do it alone or you can be alone at the end.

    Sorry for philosophy lesson 101
