Yes, you are correct.
The jogs are the negative thing in this. If you turn off vinyl mode, stop the deck and try to use the jog wheel to move in the track….well you gonna see huge lag on the jog. With vinyl mode turned on this dissapear for sure.
Ofc you never ever gonna have such a precision jog wheel integration like on S2/S4 in traktor.
Since I’m not a scratch dj, I can live with this limitation.
But it’s different for everyonePs: This is only for Traktor. In Serato the jogs works like a charm!

ParticipantMy old setup was S2+F1. Well after some thinking process I’ve replaced the S2 with DDJ-SX and I did that after I found out that there is a fully working excelent traktor mapping for the ddj-sx.
Ive used traktor since day 1 so it’s not that easy to switch to serato and to be honest Ive tested serato intro (I know it was long time ago) and I was impressed.
So the ddj-sx is running on traktor together with the f1 without any problem and almost all the tricks you have in serato for the ddj-sx is fully mapped in traktor, after all it’s a midi controller and you can find almost everything in traktor that needed.
1 thing I dislike in f1 since I’ve got the ddj-sx…..The fact that F1 doesnt have so very nice velocity pads as the ddj, that would be totally awesome!Erik Toth
ParticipantDepends on what operative system you use I guess.
On mac you can use quick time to record the video with sound without too much difficulty.
A more expensive software is Wirecast (which mainly used for streaming audio/video) that has option to save to file.
I personally dont record anything, I let the video streaming site that I’m using (http://vjstream.tv) record everything for me and I can either publish it there or download it.November 29, 2012 at 12:58 pm in reply to: Anyone use Mixlr for live-broadcasting their dj mix? #32867Erik Toth
ParticipantI’ve used mydjtube.com for video streaming my sets. But I’ve quit using MDT because of various reasons, among them the biggest one is the quality of the video/audio. Right now I’m using vjstream.tv which is actually a project of us 3 ppl who met on mdt. We develop the whole thing for fun and not as a commercial site. HQ video/audio and recording/publishing the sets.
Ofc I do use mixify for the B2B events (the one that Si BooGie mentioned above).Erik Toth
ParticipantSry to see you leave man but it’s cool that you got what you were looking for!!!
I’ve been spliting up my time on sundays. As most I stream to 4 different places at the same time (1 video 3 audio) as my B2B is part of my usual 3 hours set. I start out with 1 hour web radio show then continue with B2B and finish off with an extra hour. All this video streamed to vjstream.tv The last 2 weeks the B2B hour was going out to the web radio, too as I’ve been asked to fill out the 2 hours spot after my show as the dj couldnt go online. So ppl could see the video on vjstream, listen on mixify and also on Richidancefm web radio the B2B event.
You guys couldnt listen the mic as S2 doesnt send the mic signal into the mixer but pass it by so as with Icecasting you cant hear me talking on mixify but I was talking during the B2B event, too.I hope from time to time you can join us on sundays….I’m gonna miss your sets as the tracks you spin is quite close to the style I like myself, too.

ParticipantAs said above: Traktor is using a constant BPM to make the grid.
However…if you want only a small part of the track gridded then you can place your grid marker to that place and then you gonna be fine for that part….or till it’s drifting away too much.
Ofc the problem is only big if you use sync and traktor tries to keep the 2 tracks in beat/tempo sync.
If you use your ears you can compensate for the drifting or tempo change.Erik Toth
ParticipantI’ve used Beau’s mapping since 2.5 on my S2.
I didnt notice anything special about the jogs actually…..only change I’ve noticed is with the “quick search”. When you brows into the track with shift button pressed. It didnt really work in 2.5.1 but now with 2.6 it works perefctly….nto as sensitive as it was before. With the file browser knob maybe 1 in 20 times it jumps 2 lines for me…..loop and other knobs works 100%.
The last thing isnt the CUE/CUP change? Check the install picture….one of the jpg files in the directory you download. There you can find instructions how to go into the mapping and switch back to “normal”.
If it didnt help then good luck….I’m out of ideas atm.

ParticipantI’m gonna stay on the safe side and I will do a test event just to see if everything works as supposed to (included my sound card). I still need to download some tracks as I have only 6 DnB tracks so far and that’s not gonna cover one hour set….cover your ears..Ernom gonna play DnB for the first time in his life. 🙂

ParticipantIf you use Traktor I have a better idea for you. Go and use Trainspotter (http://www.tspotter.net/)
Look away from the fact that it can help you organize your collection file for traktor with searching for your tracks in beatport (this is a lil buggy so for any means do not hit update tag without looking at what the program found for you!) but I recently looked into the Dynamic Playlist that you can make with Trainspotter and I have only 1 word: WOW!
You can make all kind of dynamic play lists that you can find in your collection when you start Traktor.
You can set up any kind of rules for a dynamic playlist like “show tracks that imported in the last x days” or “tracks that has x ammount of play count” or “tracks that missing anything in the tag” and the limit is your imagination. As the collection is handled as a database you can actually ass xquery command to the dynamic lists.
Imo this is a must for anyone that use Traktor and not using itunes (or even for those ppl, too).
So this can help you build a nice library.Erik Toth
ParticipantI’m deeply sorry for that happened today. This whole weekend was a mess. First with the upgrade to 2.6 and then downgrade because of the cpu issue.
And when I was supposed to go live for the web radio show my sound card decided to go on strike which made impossible to stream there. Interesting enough that at the same time I was streaming video via FME to vjstream.tv and there I had sound. After a reboot the issue seemed to be solved but no…..on mixify no sound either….tho everything was setup correctly and on my end it seemed to work 100%…still sound on vjstream.
I reconnected the sound card to a different usb port and tested mixify few mins ago and now it did work….so I cant answer whats wrong cause even when I didnt have sound on web radio and mixify I had sound on vjstream with FME…using the same sound card.
Well at least it works on mixify now.
Once again sorry.Erik Toth
ParticipantEither the site likes me (which I doubt) or icecast works independent but I cant recall to having any issue during my hour.
Erik Toth
ParticipantSure it is. As it is on mixify it’s the usual setup: Louis (ex-Si BooGie) starts and Dj Forensic got a slot and I finish off. So it’s 3 of us atm.
Sry to hear about your controller and hopefully they gonna fix that quickly.Erik Toth
ParticipantFor me it did work well during my hour. Even recording did work well:

2pm MST should be pretty much when my session is over so sure you can go for it.
Erik Toth
ParticipantI’ve setup a session 9pm (8pm BST) as part of my 3 hours video streaming session. Even if I wanted I couldnt play earlier as I have to fix my car the afternoon.
