Hello Ash 🙂
There is a Thread on this in the DJ Booth I believe where I have Pasted the Full Rules on this Subject;
But; for your Peace Of Mind; if an Official were to Visit a Place where you are Playing; they would ‘Scan your Hard Drive’; so your Receipts are a Great Thing to have; but it is the Musical Content on your Hard Drive they are Interested in; and as you have said you have 100% Legal Music; I can’t see you being Ever Fined

Hello my Friend 🙂
MP3Gain Justs Adjust The Volume Of Each Track So they All Have The Same Volume When Mixing;
Platinum Notes Has A Number Of Tools:
1: Adjusts Track Volume
2: Fixes Distortion
3: Corrects Musical Pitch
4: Gives Added ‘Punch’ Where Needed

Anything post ’93 ish is no problem at all, i can make the sound in my head come out of the speakers,but try a warehouse style set and no chance… it sounds ok but it doesn’t sound “Authentic”
I can jump on VDJ and apart from the flutter not being present as i pitch bend, you’d almost think it was a vinyl set

Im aware oldskool doesn’t beat grid as easily as later house, and i know the tricks for the problem beat grids like setting two grid cue points for ins and outs..
But i think that is the problem, its too regimented.. when i mix oldskool it comes from instinct, not timing cues and pre preparation.
As much as i know that at a set point it will beat match perfectly for a transition or drop, ill hear something that will tell my instinct its time to mix out, even if it aint the pre prepared segment.
And instinct is pretty hard to rail against, so I mix out.
It aint a train wreck but it aint as smooth as i know i can do with vinyl or Virtual DJ.

Has anyone else found this, or am i some owd git who needs to jack it all in an grow old gracefully :p

Hello my Friend 🙂
I don’t know what is up with Traktor;
But I have 9,000 Old School Tracks (between 79BPM – 98BPM) and they Mix Perfectly Within Ableton;
I Know it may be Wrong to Consider Old School as ‘Breakbeat’; but that is How I Define the Acid/Rave/Old School Genre (just so it makes it ‘Easier’ for me to Catalogue); and I Feel that Regardless Of My Age I ‘Know’ this Period Really Well; and I Love It 😎
If you would like to Mix Instinctively; you can Switch Off the Warp Button in Ableton and Pitch Bend Normally;
Or of course you can Warp the Tracks as Normal and Do Anything You Like 🙂

I have had some experiences of family with mental health problems, my uncle, my sister and now my niece, all different but I have learnt to accept things in different ways. It’s a subject that I find very hard as I’m quite a rational person and mental health issues are very hard for me to errm rationalise, but I just need to accept them and love them despite their issues not because of them, if you know what I mean.

Your story is an inspiration to us all, but perhaps you need that at this moment too?
I cam across quite an inspiring story this week, its a clip from Steve Jobs commencement speech – very touching and I hope people can find the time to watch it:

Thank You Haroon for taking the time to write; and also for Providing the Steve Cob Speech;
Over the past 2 Days I have Completed Two Tracks and Uploaded them to SoundCloud (Different Accounts);
The First Track was one I have been Working On for 3 Months;
I was Never Going To Say Die on this Track; and although (in my Opinion) the End Result was ‘Rushed’; it was Complete; and I Felt Some Satisfaction in having Achieved My Goal Of ‘Sharing’ This Track With The World;
However; the Very Next Day; having slept (just 12 Hours after Uploading the Track); I Felt Sick Of Living;
The Track and My Achievement Meant Nothing To Me;
Last night; following an Awful Day of Physical Pain; I found 2 Tracks that I Felt May Work Together in a Mash-Up;
And Within Just 2 Hours the Project Was Complete; and Uploaded to SoundCloud;
Whilst Uploading this Track (it being 4am by now) a ‘Voice’ came to me that said:
“If You Want To Be Successful You Have To Work Hard”
And I Felt Some Comfort From This ‘Voice’; as I was in Extreme Agony; Yet I Wasn’t Giving Up;

I found the Steve Cobs Video Very Interesting; as I myself was given just 6 Months to Live in 2006; But I Am Still Here; I Won’t Allow My Disease To Kill Me; But I Am Happy To Be In Control Of My Demise;

I have seen the Second Video you Provided; but for the Same Reason I Do Not Wish to Watch Programmes about the Holocaust; I Don’t Choose to Watch That Video Either;
Extreme Physical Disability is Very Different to an Extreme Mental Disorder;

Hello Sam 🙂
A Very Interesting Track 😎
My Favourite Part of the Track is between 3.00 – 4.11
But as you (sort of) asked for Feedback on the ‘Clap’; I Feel the Clap Has Too Much Spread/Width;
Best Wishes to You 🙂

Hello Ash; A Very Warm Welcome To The Forum 🙂
Great News on your New Years Eve Gig 😎
Regarding the Music you have Digitally; the Club Owner you will be playing for will have a Special License to Allow Music to be Played; and if it is a Gig for a Family Member or Wedding and you were Visited by the PRS (Performing Rights Society) – or the Equivilent in your Country – the Fact that your Music is 100% Legally Bought and Downloaded will mean that you are Okay to Play it;
(Though Technically Any Person would be Committing an Offence by Broadcasting another Person’s Work in Public; though this Law has Never to my Knowledge been Implicated for a DJ)

This is Excellent Hane 🙂
I am so Pleased that you managed to Read The Crowd Correctly; and the Ambient Build Up was the Right Move at the Right Time 😎
It sounds like you had a Lot of Switching of Genres and Styles to Deal With; and it is Great that you not only had the Tracks to Enable that; but that you were ‘Thinking On Your Feet’ and it Worked 🙂
And to get a Call from the Organisers Complimenting you on the Audience is ‘The Icing On The Cake’;
Well Done for a Brilliant Performance 🙂 😎

Thanks for your input though.

It is Great that they Didn’t Turn Up; but I wouldn’t ‘Presume’ that your Club is ‘Home Free’; as if there has been any ‘Sniff Of The PRS’; they could Turn Up At Any Time; and Without Prior Notice
