Something that Interested me Very Much was the VST Support; and the Functionality of making Chains 😎

I can’t say if it is Better than Audacity; but haven’t just read up on Goldwave it looks Cool to me;
And as Audacity Didn’t have some of the Functions I needed; and Goldwave Does; I will be Downloading it now 🙂Emma Partnow

MemberHello Dave; A Very Warm Welcome To The Forum 🙂
I have Never had the Pleasure of ‘Listening’ to Music; only thinking about How I Could Use A Track In A Set;
I think I have Missed Out A Lot in that way;
Look Forward to listening to your Wigan Mix when I get a spare moment 😎Emma Partnow
MemberThank You for the Video Ivy 🙂
What A Dream It Was For Me To Actually See That David Morales Is Still Alive 😎 😎
The Only Gripe I have towards David Guetta is that on MySpace; even though people such as Carl Cox; Green Velvet; Fat Boy Slim; and Sven Vath Accepted my Friend Request; David Guetta Wouldn’t; I got a message back saying ‘Unless’ you ‘Know David Guetta Personally’ he Will Not Accept Your Friend Request;
I Understand that this is Everyone’s Perogative; but I didn’t take to him Too Kindly After That;
I was Pleased to see him using Ableton in the Video;
But I thought Placing Beats ‘Over’ Other People’s Tracks had become The Standard these days ?
I am not sure Why the USA have a Challenge with EDM as they Basically Invented The House Scene; unless EDM is something Completely Different; which wouldn’t Surprise me really as the Types Of Music in the UK that are Classed as EDM can be Quite Ambiguous to the Extreme 🙂
But; if David Guetta is Opening Up EDM to the USA; then Kudos to Him 😎Emma Partnow

I would of loved to of live mixed for the show. I think the line gets drawn if we had of ‘pretended’ that the mixing was ‘there and then’ live tho.Yes; that is Certainly True; but if we aren’t Allowed Access to their Desk then it has to be a Recorded Set;
And thinking about it; even (as far as I know) The Most Famous Of All DJ Mix Shows; ‘The BBC1 Essential Mix’; have to use Recorded Material; as Often the DJ is Not Actually There at the time (Probably Sunning it in Ibiza :))Emma Partnow

MemberNewportdj Drew, post: 6413 wrote: Hmm I faced this very dilemma. Radio interview, I could not hook up my equipment in their studio. So I created a mix a few days before. I think thats okay. It was still ‘live to tape’ without editing.
Hello Drew 🙂
Yes I Completely Agree; there is No Problem with this Whatsoever;
I Always Record Live; but in order for me to get my Set to the Host of the Radio Station (as it is Currently Not Live Streaming – but Soon To Be); he has to Download a Set I have Uploaded to the Web;
This is Not Pretending in Any Form; as to get Files/CD’s or Whatever Form Of Medium to a Record Company/Radio Station/Promoter/Club; we have ‘No Choice’ but to Press Record whilst we are DJ’ing Live;Emma Partnow
MemberNo Problem Ash 🙂

It’s been a while. How are you? Thanks for the clarification!!!Hello Ivy 🙂
It is Lovely to see you again 🙂 😎Emma Partnow
MemberYes; I can Understand my Friend; when the ‘Physical Medium’ that we Both have Experience Of; Cannot really be Replicated in a Digital Form; so it is a Case Of Adapting;
I would Try Not To Be Too Tough On Yourself; as it took me 4 Months to get the Hang of How To DJ in Ableton; and I have only used Traktor Twice since I bought it;
After Many Heartaches I decided that I would have to stick with One Piece of Software and learn that (as I have VD7 Pro as well); and it was a Nightmare; because if something wasn’t Working in One Software Environment I would just Switch to Another; but really I wasn’t Getting Anywhere;
However; with Old School; it is Unbelievable just How Many Tracks Use (or are Built Around) the ‘Amen Break’ Drum Loop; so I would be looking at Tracks that Fit That Specification (or have a Gorgeous Piano Break); and Build Your Set on that Principle; I Bet doing that you could Bang Out a Set In A Night 😎Emma Partnow
MemberU31, post: 6399 wrote: That is precisely the problem Emma… Even with the small amount i have so far learned in Ableton, i would do a seamles mix, Guaranteed. Because my mindset would be different for mixing and warping in Ableton.
And i would definitely warp the Set.. Its a tool and i’d use it.Virtual Dj for me is pretty close to vinyl or cdj’s, like serato… So my mind sort of slips in to that kind of mixing by feel vibe.
Now Traktor to me is like some halfway house between Ableton but rather than embracing this, my mind seems to rail against it and treat it like im using VDJ, when its patently not!
Give me a modern house track list and i could mix in Traktor as well as any other software, it only seems to be oldskool warehouse and acid house stuff.
I suppose the answer is practice practice practiceOther than ‘Piano Breaks’ (which are Amazing); there aren’t Many of the Traditional ‘Breaks’ we get in EDM; but I would be looking at these Piano Breaks; or Most Importantly ‘Finding The Same Breakbeat’ in Tracks to Mix to – I don’t Why I am even saying this as you have Much More Experience than I do – but that is what is Working For Me in my Current Old School Set; as it is Incredible How Many Breakbeats are the Same; and will Mix Beautifully 🙂
