    That is So Cool Xeva 🙂 😎

I want my sets to reflect me not a carbon copy of someone else. Also I found I literally didn’t have the time to go through all that I copied with the new stuff flooding me over.

    My Nephew gave me copies of 12 of his Favourite Tracks on MP3; and as a Present (and an Experiment for Myself); I thought I would Mix them (whether I liked them or not); and the Mix came out Really Well; however; like you; that is as far as I wanted to take it; as these Tracks were ‘His Favourites Not Mine’; and as I didn’t want to Feel ‘Influenced’ by another; I have now Deleted them (although I have since Bought one of the Tracks as it was Brilliant :));
    But when I began DJ’ing; the Law was that to even ‘Play’ a Track Live in a DJ Set (in front of an Audience) we had to Pay the Original Artist 4p (English Money); how that could ever be Enforced I don’t know; and I Never paid Anyone Anything; but with my Step-Father being a Member of the PRS (Performing Rights Society) he told me what the Law said; and that I should ‘Comply’ with its Regulations;
    I Understand that there are New Laws now; and that ‘Someone’ should ‘Own a Licence’;

    Hello Karl 🙂
    I have just looked this up and the information I gained was this …
    “6.1 Will not work with the microphone, only VirtualDJ Pro Full 7.0.2 will work.”
    So I Presume it would depend on which Version you have on VDJ; what Version do you have ?

    Here’s the article: Why I Just Threw Away Nearly All Of My Music

    Emma, I was a resident in the same club for 10 years, and I have to say my set changed gradually, never in one go – people came to hear me play the tunes I played, because they knew how I played them and they knew what they’d get. I think it’s OK to play the same tunes and change only gradually. Only my opinion though 🙂

    Hello Phil :);
    You have an Amazing History Phil; and to be able to Flourish into Publishing and Still DJ Every Weekend is a Brilliant Track Record; I only asked the Question because I still don’t Understand the Sites like HypeMachine and what they do (although I am Subscribed); I am a Fanatic – in the sense that I have 29 Different Remixes of ‘Martin Solveig – Hello’; but of course if I was going out live and ‘Wanted’ to play that Track; I would only take One Version with me;
    I Feel I have to Learn New Ways of Organising my Sets as I just have So Much Choice; but as my Vinyl is in the Attic; and my CD’s on the Shelves; a Seperate Place for Tracks I Want To Keep; but maybe not Play; would be Cool;
    All my New Tracks go into Two Folders; and I Try to build Sets from them; but I have to Heavily Dip into the 3,000 other Tracks I have as the New Tracks just aren’t Enough in Quantity; and of course I like to be ‘Different’; and so am Not Ashamed to say that I have Classical Music at my Disposal (and I would rather have it at my Disposal than not); and also Instrumentals like ‘The Sugar Plum Fairy’; it may sound Mental; but Mix that Track into an Underworld Track and it is simply Amazing; and as I said ‘Different’; and also ‘Unexpected’ 🙂

    Thank You Jona; that is Wonderful Of You 🙂 :cool:;
    Being hidden away here in this ‘Thread Ladder’ this Thread may not get much Exposure;
    But; next to Pete Tong; this is as Close as I have got so far; and it ‘Could’ be my Big Break 🙂

    That is Great News Lloyd 🙂
    As to get back into Mixing; and to get your ‘Feel’ for it once again is Definitely the Way Forward :cool:;
    And Yes; you are Correct; it doesn’t matter what Gear we use; we have to get our Skills Back Again 🙂
    I have a Permanent Residency on a Global Internet Radio Station (Broadcasting from Canada though I am in England); and I like to Mix up the Genres each time I do a Set; so I can and do Mix Everything but Trance (which isn’t my Cup Of Tea); I love Disco as that is where the ‘Dance Movement’ came from; I am Unable to Play Out ‘Live’ at the moment due to my Health Issues; but I do Practice at Home Every Night; as it is my Passion; and I am also a Producer and Sound Engineer; (I also Master Tracks for people all over the World before they send them to Record Companies);
    Disco; Jazz; Rock; Blues; and Any Genre present Challenges with Mixing as a Human Drummer Often ‘Drifts’ when they are playing; which doesn’t help us much; but it is Great when we are able to use that Pitch Control and keep the Tracks together as it were 🙂
    Best Wishes;
    Emma

    Hello Lloyd :);
    Yes; I had to take 7 Years out myself from DJ’ing; but I am back now; and like you; moving from Pioneer Decks (which I still have); and Physical Equipment; into the Digital Era was a bit Daunting at first; but has become an Absolute Wonder of Learning and Experimentation :);
    I am only a Member of this Site like yourself; but we All have Knowledge to Share; although of course we also have Our Writers who have Access to All New Equipment; and their Knowledge is Unbelievable
    However; you can see the Adverts down the Side of the page; which shows that the Physical Equipment Age is Not Over Yet :);
    But; do you have any Inclination to move more into the Digital World of DJ’ing ?
    And if so; have you looked at any Software in particular; and is that the Knowledge you are looking for ?

    Yes Mike :);
    If I were to pay £170 or whatever it is to see AC/DC; Led Zepplin; Status Quo; and Not Hear their Hit Records I would Feel Absolutely Cheated; as Most of the Reason they Fill Stadiums is for their Previous Great Work;
    But; I Agree; DJ’s are Different; as unless they are Producers/Composers; they are (Me Included) Basically just playing ‘Other Artists’ Works; and although ‘Some’ become Very Famous; without those Tracks; that are ‘Not Their Own’ they may as well Turn Their Equipment Off;
    I Highly Appreciate your Apology; or Acceptance of Our Misunderstanding; as I am Only Here to ‘Help Others’ with Encouragement when I have No Knowledge of their Circumstances; or Show My Appreciation Of Their Work/Mixes if they Choose to Share that with Me (Us);
    With Kind Regards to You;
    Emma

    WOW !!
    That is just Totally Unbelievable in this World in the 21st Century :(;

    Yes; there is Truth and Rationale in what you say Mike;
    And I am not here for an Argument; or even a Disagreement; or Conflict Of Opinions;
    However; if I went to see Dave Clarke/Carl Cox in Brighton; then in Sheffield the next night; then Birmingham the next night; then London the next night; and he Basically Played The Same Set; I would be Extremely Angry; whether it was Brilliant or not; I am not Interested in Paying £40+ to hear the Same 30 Tracks 4 Nights In A Row
    On my Radio Show I Play a Completely Different Set on Every Show; Never Do I Repeat A Track; People would Stop Listening and Downloading my Sets if they were Virtually The Same;
    And I would become ‘One Of Those DJ’s Who Always Plays The Same Set’
    A ‘Different Set’ is a ‘Unique Set’; just like a Piece Of Art (an Oil Painting in other words)
