    This is a pretty decent tool Phil and a goldmine for the unboxed thinker.. I was toying around with it and realised that you can not only get it to do drops but vocal samples that you can use in productions 🙂 (if it’s your thing) … recreated the vocal bit from The Tapedeck Bros.’ Dance Of The Dead that goes, “When the dead come to life… they will dance” 🙂

    Hello my Friend :);
    I do my Best (and it has Worked up to now) to be Kind; Caring; and Considerate to the Host; (through the Written Word and Adequate Contact); and my Shows are Introduced by Him (or one of his Colleagues); and then they Play My Set; with a few little Jingles inbetween the Set (by one of the other Female DJ’s) to Identify who I am;
    This also happened on Friday evening with my One-Off Set on Brighton Radio; as by Building a Rappor even with a person as Famous as he is; Disabilities/Challenges can be Overcome 🙂

    mixcloud is very good for what you are trying to do here as you can see exactly what time a track is coming into the mix (if the uploader has correctly timestamped the mix that is). I can suggest listening to a mix then listening to the individual tracks and see if you can understand what is going on in the actual mix.

    I use effects and like to mash up tracks live when I play and I have also learned a great deal from just listening to different djs and their techniques. I have several live recorded mixes on my soundcloud if you want to have a listen.

    Also as I mentioned earlier mixcloud is a very useful tool. Have a listen to a dubstep mix I recently recorded http://i.mixcloud.com/C8Arf.

    I hope I have been helpful!

    You have a Very Competent Dubstep Mix there Chris 🙂

    The Only ‘Challenge’ with that Mike (if your Surname is in your Username here); is although it is ‘Yours’ and you can do what you like with it; ‘Some’ people may think you might be trying to make a Point (Total Ignorance on their part of course); and for some Clubs/Bookings they may find it ‘Unsuitable’ for them (or their Audience) ?

    Xeva, post: 3472 wrote: What you have is solid dj’ing!

    A lot of DJ’s, even big ones, mix simply on Ableton and match all of their tracks’ BPM and draw EQ envelopes as if to mimic a “live” set…Then they export it out and every transition is seamless. They’re not actually dj’ing live, it’s all pre-set. I admit I do this, too, as I turned more into a producer and don’t have any turntables in my studio anymore. I still know how to dj, started when I was 12 and I’ll never forget it. But there are just logistical reasons that we can’t control. No turntables, in my case, or for the bigger dj’s, they have to travel, do gigs, make music, and continuously run their own podcasts all at the same time…so we have to mix sets on Ableton. Your transitions were so good that it sounded like you were mixing this way, even though I knew you weren’t. I hope you didn’t think I wasn’t giving credit where it was due. Keep up the great work. 🙂

    I have to say my Friend that Unfortunately I did ‘Read’ into what you said; that you were under the Impression that I did; and do; Record my Mixes in the way that you have Described that Big DJ’s (and Others) lay out their Mixes in Ableton beforehand; and so Therefore are ‘Not Mixing’ at all;
    This isn’t what I do; I Never use EQ to Cut Bass Frequencies; I Never use Any Effects; I Never Draw Envelopes; and I Never Mix Tracks with the Same BPM; I may have a Master Tempo of 128BPM; but I Mix Tracks within this Set with BPM’s of Anything from 109BPM to 142BPM; and I just Make It Work; I have a Keyboard that has 8 Controller Knobs; and 8 Faders; and I use these Faders in the Exact Same Way I used to use the Faders on my CDDJ’s (I have Never used a Crossfader in my Life);
    I can Understand that Big DJ’s who have 2 or even 3 Gigs in one night have to Travel all over the Country (some Lucky ones in Helicopters); and that Some of these DJ’s will Play The Same Set at Each Gig; well; even for £10,000 a Gig I would want to be doing something More than Pressing Play and Pretending to use Accessories; but; Good Luck to them I say; these DJ’s (from 20 Years Ago are the DJ’s who Inspired me; and Continue to Inspire me – but Only their Sets from 20 Years Ago);
    I am Very Happy to Accept Anything that You Do in your Production Work;
    But my Transitions are as Faultless As They Are through a Consistent and Determined Dream; and of course the Unfortunate Situation that I am Tied to my Bedroom for 24 Hours a Day and Cannot Walk;
    I Respect your Opinion and Feelings; but just Feel I have to Equally make My Own Case and Defend my Talent;
    Best Wishes my Friend 🙂

    I give you credit Emma for not milking it the way others do. I swear I see some female DJs doing more photoshoots than I see them spin.

    And (although I don’t know who they are) by doing that kind of thing; all they are doing is Exploiting Themselves (and in a sense Degrading Themselves and other Female DJ’s); because if it comes down to what you ‘Look Like’; what happens to the Girls who are ‘Not Photogenic’; and there Must be Some; as they may have an Enormous Talent but have an Even Greater Battle to become ‘Recognised’ as an Artist if they don’t ‘Look The Part’; which I think is All Wrong;
    I am Definitely Not ‘Women’s Lib’ (whatever that is); and people can do what they like with their Bodies; but the Girls who wear Skimpy Clothes now to get into the Limelight won’t really have much to fall back on when Age begins to creep up on them; as Nature is Not Kind to the Female Face/Body; and so will they still be DJ’ing in 20 Years ?

    Any ideas as to why this is? :confused:

    If (on your PC); you go to;
    Control Panel;
    Hardware and Sound;
    Manage Audio Devices;
    Recording;
    Right Click your ‘Audio Device’ (Sound Card);
    Select Properties;
    Click Advanced Tab;
    And under the ‘Default Format’; you will have a Drop Down Box;
    Click the Down Arrow;
    Select 48,000 Sample Rate;
    Press Apply; then Ok; then Ok again to Close the Open Menu Boxes;
    Then; this will Probably give you the ‘Option’ to Choose 48,000 in Traktor;
    As Currently; if your Sound Card is set to 44,100 then you will Not have this Option in Traktor;
    Hope this is of Some Help to You 🙂

    Ampero, post: 3422 wrote: Audacity is pretty decent with noise removal, as well as the Sound Editor that comes with the Roxio Suite of software. I havent had much of a run with Ableton (or any other studio-grade software) to give you any tips, sorry.

    I do know that Audacity lets you isolate the ‘noise’ and you can preview how much of it you want removed from a particular section. The only drawback is that it can ‘trim’ some of (if any) the ambient sound that you might want, including some of the body of the highs of that section.

    Thank You Ampero;
    I will have a go with Audacity first; and then with Sound Editor if I can get hold of it 🙂
