    Hello Patrick πŸ™‚
    Of Course you can πŸ™‚
    What Skills do you feel you have Currently ?
    Are you able to ‘Move Around/Use’ your Controller Confidently ?
    Are you Confident about your Current Level of Confidence in front of Others ?
    Have you ‘Practised’ your DJ Skills enough to ‘Feel’ You Are Ready to Get Out There In Front Of A Crowd ?

    I have Posted Here already; but there is an Update really;
    Due to ‘Yet Another’ Head Injury; and been Struggling with Music this 10 days or so; I have gone back to Gaming;
    On Thursday I began playing Games (Xbox) at 3pm; and Finished (because I couldn’t see anymore); at 9.30am on Friday morning; and it was my Longest Gaming Session so far; and in those 18 Hours I played just 2 Games πŸ™‚

    Or these people are using sd cards… Or even a hidden laptop πŸ™‚

    Hello my Friend πŸ™‚
    Thank You for Explaining that you have a System; and what that System is; for when and if your Laptop Crashes;
    But for DJ’s who ‘Use this System’ as ‘Their Act’; isn’t this a little ‘Untrustworthy’ as a ‘Performance’; now you have Explained to me How the System Works’ such as Track 1 on CD1; followed by Track 2 on CD2 ?
    As a Back-Up; I ‘Heartily Accept’ this as a Course Of Action to ‘Appease the Crowd and the Promoter/Club Owner’; but as the ‘Norm’ if it were to be this way (and I am talking about DJ’s I watch Live including Pete Tong and Carl Cox); does this is not seem a little like having 2 ‘K-Tel’ Complilation Albums on 2 Technics and just Fading One Track Out; and Bringing the Next Track In ?
    This Sounds ‘Awful’ if this is ‘Normal Practice’ πŸ™

    Hello my Friend πŸ™‚
    It is lovely to see you back 😎
    But Very Sad to Understand your Difficulties with Access to the Internet (and therefore Our Forum) πŸ™
    In Answer to your Question though; ‘Unless’ you are a Person/DJ who ‘Must’ Keep Up with the Latest Tracks; I can’t see a Problem at all in having ‘Limited Internet Access’; (although Networking Will Suffer of course – but Twice Weekly Updates – if Written/Planned ‘before’ you get to the PC to ‘Save Time’ will Help);
    Because if you already have a Hard Drive with a Number Of Tracks on them; there is an Enormous Amount we can ‘Do’ with these Tracks Without having to ‘Add More’;
    You Know Your Job ‘Much More’ than Anyone Else Could; so the Basics of Sampling; Re-Sampling; Remixing; of the Tracks you Already Own is Almost Limitless;
    Though; if; like my Nephew; you have to go to a Library or something for Internet Access; then the Installation of a DAW; or other Software; will Most Definitely be a Challenge;

    It looks like it won’t be Forever though; from what you said; so things Will Change For You πŸ™‚

    One Question I Must Ask; and if I Look/Sound a ‘Fool’; then that is just ‘Part Of Life’ πŸ™‚
    My CDJ’s are Top Loading; and when I used to play Live I used to Change Each CD; just as the Vinyl DJ’s Changed 12″;
    So; (On Topic with the above Video); when I see DJ Sets with DJ’s Using CDJ’s; ‘Why’ am I Not Seeing Them Change CD’s ? Surely All DJ’s (even the DJ’s with Front Loading CDJ’s) who are Using CDJ’s don’t use CD’s like DJ Cotts above; where their ‘Performance’ is based around Playing 2 CD’s ?

    Hello Michael πŸ™‚
    As I began to Explain in my Tutorial on Ableton Warping; with Disco Tracks (or Jazz; Rock and Blues); it is Important to Warp these Tracks (Luckily they are Usually Shorter than the EDM Tracks of today); either 4 Bars; or 8 Bars at a Time to get an Absolute Definition of where the (Human) Drum Beats lie;
    You can see some of this is my Screenshots on Page 2 of the following Thread:
    http://digitaldjtips.com/forum/threads/considering-ableton-for-djing.555/page-2

    However; as Promised I have found 2 Ableton Trainers who are Instructing on Ableton Warping in Video Form;
    If you have the time to watch these Videos I Feel you Will Find what it is you Need;
    And just before I give you the 2 Links; I will Quickly relate a Warping Challenge I Experienced with a Jazz Remix of ‘Grandmaster Flash – The Message’; Most of the Track was Okay; but there was this 16 Bar Phrase about half way through that would ‘Speed Up and Slow Down’; and although it took a good 15 minutes (as this was Severe); using the 8; 4; 2; 1 Bar Method; it Truly is Possible to Warp a Wolf Wailing in the Forest πŸ™‚

    Michael M. Hughes, post: 5232 wrote: Excellent! Thanks, Emma. That’s exactly how I hoped it would work.

    And since you’re our Ableton expert here, do you know of any warping tutorialsβ€”in particular, those that show how to warp difficult songs (like a 70s disco tune with a live drummer)? Thanks!

    Yes πŸ™‚
    Give me two minutes and I will be back with one πŸ™‚

    I downloaded Ableton Live last night and watched a few demos on warping. Would it be possible to warp a song into a more uniform rhythm, then export it and import it to Traktor?

    Hello Michael :);
    If you Warp a Track in Ableton; then Export it as a .wav File; the File you will have Exported will Sound ‘Exactly’ how it Sounded in Ableton (for instance if you had Warped a Track Originally at 83BPM – to 127BPM by placing your Warp Markers within Ableton); the Exported Track will Play at 127BPM;
    Then; if Traktor takes .wav Files (or if not just Convert it to MP3); when you Import it into Tracktor the Tracks BPM will be 127; Not the Original Tracks 83BPM (as it was before you Warped it in Ableton)

    jezalenko, post: 5160 wrote: Just wondering, are there any Kontrol S4 users out there using Windows 7? I’ve heard of issues with sound card drop-outs and crackles… is this still an issue, or has NI updated the drivers to eliminate this problem?

    I’m seriously concidering making the upgrade to an S4, but not if there are still problems with the drivers.

    Your input is highly appreciated πŸ™‚

    How To Fix This (Solution From Native Instruments):

    Some users have reported audio issues under Windows with the interface integrated in Kontrol S4. Our tech support has evaluated these reports extensively, and has come to the conclusion that on the affected computers, the operating system was typically not properly configured for best audio performance in the first place.

    This means that these issues can typically be fixed through some general OS configuration and tuning measures. If you want to optimize the audio performance of our Kontrol S4 under Windows, please consult the following knowledge base articles:

    Windows 7: http://www.native-instruments.com/kn…/questions/847

    Windows Vista: http://www.native-instruments.com/kn…/questions/354

    Windows XP: http://www.native-instruments.com/kn…/questions/343

    Some additional technical background: The audio drivers released with Kontrol S4 have a fixed, small USB buffer setting, while the previous NI driver generation had an adjustable USB buffer. We have found out that this small default USB buffer setting, while ideal for most computers, can be challenging for maschines that give inferior audio performance due to their general OS configuration. This is why on these computers, the S4 audio performance might appear inferior compared to an Audio 2/4/8 interface with the previous driver generation (and larger USB buffer). We are also testing a new driver version right now that will make the USB buffer adjustable again.

    Cool πŸ™‚
    I Learned how to Create Dubstep Basslines with Thor on that ‘Boy In A Band’ Site; Thor an Amazing Tool;
    But for Dubstep Basslines Massive is Fabulous (and sort of the Dubstep Industry Standard now);
    Massive can be used as a VST (but Not in Reason obviously); or as a Standalone Unit (but I am not Sure ‘How’ we would Record from it in its ‘Standalone’ Mode;

    This is an Example of Massive in Action πŸ™‚
