Matt Moncrieffe, post: 6106 wrote: So I’ve got my keyboard mapping coming along well, and its at the point where I can loop beats and switch from Deck 1 to Deck 2 fairly easily now. In about 11 days I’ll be moving into residence at College and I have thought it would be a great place to start something seeing s usually people just fire up a playlist and let it go for the night. Seeing as I like to only drink with my friends and I am not into weed or any other substances I think it could be a great way to feel comfortable with people yet I don’t have to sorry about crazy transitions or effects. What do you guys think?

Also I have noticed that VDJ saves the hot cues for each song in its memory, so if I set 4-5 on Shots by LMFAO for example it would save them the next time I drag it up. Seeing as I don’t have an external sound card to me this is an easy way to find build up’s, signifigant baselines and other key parts of the song people know. Do you guys see an issue for now having those preset before an event?

Finally, is it bad to create a playlist, or some sort of list the consists of songs to play together before the night? Or is this something that should usually be done? I know they say know your music and I do well enough, but some songs I know g really well at this point and I have tried every song combination yet.

Thanks again for your responses, Matt 🙂

Hello Matt 🙂
Yes; I Feel a Playlist is Vital (or at least when I began DJ’ing a Written List of the Order Of Play During My Set);
This ‘List’ (Playlist) then gave me the Opportunity to ‘Develop’ Further Playlists;
If Our Software gives us the ‘Facility’ of Creating Loops Before Our Set; that we can then Use In Our Set; then that is also a Great Option; and can be used to ‘Further Develop Your Style’;
I think your idea of Playing at College is also a Great One; and I Wish you Well 🙂

It went ok for my first time ever mixing hip-hop (rather bad actually) but nobody cared. I realized though that i was having a terrible time and it was just not my type of crowd (rowdy, drug-oriented, rude, etc.) and I only knew one person. I left 45 minutes after I got there. I now know that I should only do a gig if I am really going to like it and I am into the music I am mixing.

Hello Michael 🙂
For your Second Gig this was a Good Learning Curve for you I think; as to ‘Feel Uncomfortable’ with the Genre and the Clientele is Definitely Okay; and to Learn something about ‘What You Want To Do’ In Public So Early In Your Career is a Great Thing;
If we are ‘Out for Bucks’ (which you weren’t); then some Bad Gigs are Par For The Course;
However; to Walk Away When You Felt It Was Correct For You; takes Courage and Self Respect;
I still Feel That We Need (if we Choose) To Aim High in this Business;
If we Want A Regular Income (basically taking Most/All Gigs); that is Cool;
However; if we ‘Want To Be Big’; then at Some Point ‘We Need To Be Calling the Shots’

Thank You Both For Your Support; and for taking the Time to Write something Meaninful to me;
It is Wonderful to Feel I am ‘Needed’ in some way; and this Forum has become One Of The Last Things I have to ‘Clutch At/Hold On To’;
Unfortunately I Don’t Have Anyone in my Life who is Flesh And Blood that Cares For Me; or even Speaks To Me; and so the Lonliness; the Feelings of Hopelessness/Helplessness; and Worthlessness; are just Absolute;

Michael; I am Very Very Sorry that your Sister Hurts You with her Verbal Assaults Towards You :(;
Bipolar is a Condition that even with Medication can Often Rear Itself in a Very Damaging Way to Loved Ones;
I have to take 16 Tablets Per Day to ‘Control’ my Condition; yet on days like yesterday; today; and basically Every Day for the Past Month; it Feels like I have Never Taken Any Medication At All;

But to hear you say;

Michael Fuchs, post: 6095 wrote: I look into ways to help her and read up on the disorder, but in the end, it all comes down to being there when she needs you to cheer her up, encourage her, and just let her know that she is incredibly special to us.

Really is Fabulous; and apart from being ‘All You Can Do’ sometimes; it is ‘Exactly What Your Sister Needs’; and she will Remember Your Care For Her For The Rest Of Her Life;
I Admire You So Much For Doing This For Her So Selflessly

I Only Race in Video Games of course (the Forza Motorsport Series); but it wouldn’t Surprise me if ‘Some’ Teams ‘Practice’ this way (as do the USA Military – in Video Games); but to Actually Drive/Race in Real Life would be Class :cool:;
And I Love those small Peugeot/SEAT type Cars for Tight Corners 🙂

To be fair, it was 1. His first time at that track. And 2. His first time in that car.
Keep in mind that was a practice run, not an actual race.

Good thing he was in a caged car.

For a Practice and in that Car for the First Time I would give him Top Marks then 😎
His Partner and Himself seemed Quite Proud of the Mess of the Car after the Crash though; unless that was just because he was Alive 🙂

Classic 😎
I am wondering what he kept doing with his ‘Body Weight’ on the Corners though; he wasn’t driving a Motorcycle ?
He was doing So Well (I Hope it wasn’t You Subculture :)); but he wasn’t really Following the Racing Line; and I think the ‘Apex’ on the Corners was something he had Forgotten About 😉

Basically Im after someone to point me in the right direction for some house music that is easy to mix and goes well together. I have no idea what artists to look for or even where to begin and was hoping some of you lot have done house mixes before and could recommend a few tracks, an album or even a mix to remix.

Cheers,

Hello Steve 🙂
Although you have received some Excellent Advice already in this Thread; I will say something too 🙂
When Record Shops were Open (like Virgin and HMV – are they still Open?); I use to pick up 6 CD Sets of House – Unmixed – (and other Genres) for £12; I don’t know what it is like today; other than to say that these ‘Special Mix Complilations’ would cost Much More on the Usual MP3 Sites; but; with over 80 Tracks available it was Great for Early Development of Genres; or even Basic DJ Skills (or the Evolvement Of);
However; without the Medium I described; it takes a Great Deal Of Time; to First Of All ‘Find’ Tracks that you Enjoy (even on YouTube – though I spend Hours and Hours on there myself); (I also listen to Mix Sets that people have put up Online; and also Download and Study Famous DJ Mixes which are available on Soundcloud); and then More Time actually Obtaining these Tracks; but Unfortuantely (or Fortunately) this is The Name Of The Game :);
The Most Important Thing Of All All; having to spend this Amount Of Time; is to ‘Like’ The Genre you are Studying;
As for me; having spent 3 Solid Months of this year listening to Dubstep Excusively; I have gone Right Off it now;

One of my Current Sources of Tracks is B@TV; I watch a Set (by a DJ who is Interesting); and when I hear something that says to me ‘Absolute Classic’; I read in the Comments for the Tracklisting; and then Buy The Track;
