Totally agree with Terry about Gemini Cdj700 BUT people around the world have quite some complaints about them. I am not talking about morons who just puke over every single product, but about people who own these cdjs. Sometimes they have to return them because some features didn’t work.
BUT because I think that they still offer as much as Pio Cdj2000s, I personally think that some not entirely working extra features could NOT count agains them. U can still return them and demand new.
I would go of them if the club feel is the case, otherwise buy something from Denon ( SC2900, SC3900, SC1200…) but they cost bit more.

PS: don’t go for Gemini’s if you’re scratch DJ

Btw mc3000 is not bus powered so think twice before you buy ipad.(i think it isnt, not 100% sure).
And, if you do production too, i would recommend you SSD drive. It is just amazing i have it, it is expensive but helps helluva lot when it comes to speed. Rather have i5 and ssd than i7. And one more thing. Because apple have dedicated products, devices, software… computers ALWAYS work faster than PC even on processors with less power. But I agree that you shouldn’t go for dual core

As has been said many times over, you get what you pay for in speakers. So if you want cheap/low-end, you will be sacrificing something in the category sound quality, power, build quality, etx.

Check out the alternatives Phil suggests in his article. If you want something better your best buy (in my opinion) would be a set of KRK RP5 G2’s. They will at least cost each what a set of NPM5’s or M-Audio’s would cost you.

Another thing is that I personally can’t listen long time to studio monitors if I am not editing or something. They are just too brutally honest for just listening to music or practicing DJ-ing. I get tired quickly.

I haven’t tried the AKG 44’s, but looking at the price tag, I am assuming low-end too. That doesn’t mean they are not good, but you really want something decent for producing I think. I use a set of Sennheiser HD25-II cans for mixing/editing. They are excellent (and the somewhat standard choice in the live sound/recording industry) but easily cost 6 time what an AKG 44 costs.

Good luck with your choice & greetinx,
    C.

I have a question at this point. Why not KRK RP6 G2’s instead (you advice were 5inch) They don’t lack the low end and cost 20€ more ea. (at least where I live)

I am not sure if your controller supports Buspower. If it does try out ipad or tablet if u have one. Or use Algoriddim dj on iPod touch and use it as a controller, again if you have one.
The worst but still viable option is just casual mp3, with premade mix (do it at home on a daw or somewhere and save it as mp3).
If you have PA mixer u can go with mp3 + mic. ( you say something in between the songs)

If nothing suits you …then you’re screwed

That is dirt cheap 🙂 … the price in euro’s I gave you comes from the cheapest address here. Life’s not fair! LOL

Might want to take a look at this review (there are more, just google): http://en.audiofanzine.com/analog-mixer/yamaha/mg-c-series-mg102c/user_reviews/r.107758.html

The overall consensus is that is lightweight, compact and very versatile, while offering great sound quality (again, within it’s price range). I think it said in the review “not the best mixer in the world, but definitely the best mixer in it’t price range).

It’s been around since 2009 I think and there is a newer, slightly more expensive 8-channel version that has one digital FX channel. But with what you are doing I’d rather have the extra stereo channel. The good thing with analogue equipment like this is that it doesn’t age like digital. A 3 year old controller is considered almost ancient today. An analogue PA mixer can be 10 years old and the design still sold.

Good luck with your choice and the manual & greetinx,
    C.

US… -.- I hate it. The biggest differece i found once was: Numark Mixdeck Quad: 650$ in US and 1000 euros in EU
