MemberGlad I could help! I`ve been wresteling with the same problems myself.. It isnt a problem with the quality of the boards, its more the fact that the majority on this forum runs internal mixing setups i believe (as these in general are cheaper, and more portable, which is sort of the big advantage of digital). I dont have a smart phone, so im gonna go the digital recorder route when I get some cash.. But if you could let me know if you find an app for this that would be sweet, as that might sway my desicion and I might actually advance from the bronze age into moderntimes and get a smartphone xD !

MemberUse your soundcard (audio 2 was it?) one of the outputs for each of the virtual decks in tractor, into your mixer input line. Then next to the master output on your mixer, you will find a set of outputs called record out.. Then get your hands on a portable digital recorder.. ( I believe there are aps for this on some smartphones aswell, although im not sure)..
I dont have a portable digital recorder myself, so i cant reccomend one, but i suspect they look something like this ( http://magazine.dv247.com/2011/06/17/portable-digital-audio-recorder-comparison/) and cost alot of money..
Alternatively u can go from the record out (on your external mixer), back into your computer on a second soundcard ( I think this is possible on some computers, and record with audacity). Using the microphone input in your computer. This is the cheapest solution, but I am not 100% sure that its possible.. But it might be worth the try as u can get away with only spending cash on a few cables.
And i agree, using external mixers just feels better π

Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk both stated in interviews they use mp3s 192k and up, same with Ean Golden. I cannot see why the size of the venue dictates the sound file you use.
Actually the lower your volume and the more slight dynamics the song has (aka playing in a bar or lounge) the better your files should be.Hmm, wasnt aware of that.. I`ve heard that compressed files get sorta “thin” at bigger soundsytems, but I guess its just a myth.. That sorta hifi mentality i guess (your audio is only as good as it weakest link, to justify buying a cable that cost 1k ^^ )

MemberAight, thanks for the lessons.. and yes, im just playing around in my bedroom, but having been listening too vinyl and cds alot, i just want to make sure im not decreasing my sound quality.. Seems like mp3 320 is fine for now, however I have 1 more practical question: If one were to buy a track of,f lets say beatport (as thats what i use atm), and i pay 2$ for a track in mp3 format, i later wish to change format and return too get the .aiff format. Do i get it for only 1$ or do I have to pay the full price over again?

When u say lossless (you men like not compressed or whatever).. can u get that on beatport or any similar sites? and the Mp3 formats on beatport, are those 320kps? larger, smaller?

MemberI believe i read over at DJTT that they are expecting em in sept /oct… So u still got too wait a while, also u have to consider where u live, sometimes something is released and it still takes months before it reaches the stores. (like the xone k2, was realeased like one or two moths ago, still havent gotten to the stores in my country yet). Dont hold your breath.

Is mombathon halfstep aswell? Never really listened much too the genre.. cause a dubstep track at 140bpm is sorta 70 bpm, because its halfstep.. If it aint the same with moombathon raising the tempo from a 110 track too 140 track to raise the energy, might be counterproductive.. but I have no idea how moobathon works xD

MemberAt an opening id go for UK dubstep not american dubstep… alot of that is more chilled out, not so obnoxious and perhaps it demands a slightly greaster attention span.. Its actually the only kind of dubstep i like listening too.. That skrillex stuff is just to much of everything.
check out getdarkertv.. U will instantly understand what im talking about, check the link. Maybe especially check out distance and darkside my favourite dubstep djs.. They know what they doing.. Id start the evening with stuff like that!
Also, if its a dubstep crowd ur entertaining, u might positivley suprise them with a garage tune.. Know lots of dubstep people “come” from the UK garage tradition.

MemberI agree that its easier getting to know music when u have the albumes lined up in your shelf.. I have much more knowledge about 60 – 70 rock, punk, blues and country from our family vinyl and cd collection.. mp3`s dont engage you as much as picking up the album.. looking at the artwork and flipping trough the little book that contains lyrics and such.
In the general publics defence tho, contemporary pop music artists is often hard to distinguish from each other, there is vast selection of tunes coming out all the time.. More so now than before, and people have access to more music through streaming services than before.. So getting to know all the music is harder then before i guess.

For turntables the top line Stantons, Vestax and Numarks are almost the only alternatives that offer decent enough build quality and torque. There is some wrong in this statement.. Most brands have stronger torque than technics, even the cheaper ones like omnitronic and so on.. The reason for this (only certain models) is that the high end stantons and the cheaper ones have the same motor. They are known as Super OEM turntables.. the internal stuff is made in the same factory and sold to all the brands.
Build quality on the chassis (spelling?) and tonearm differ from the brands tho.. I still stick with my 1210mkII tho..
As for cdj`s i have no idea. Also i have only read about the other turntables, and looked at speccs.. I havent tried em.. I`ve heard that some numark ttx`s have failed quite fast.. manufacturing stuff.. Dont know about the credibility about the sources tho.DrBlue

MemberIf have an IPOD/mp3 player, bring that aswell with a quater-inch jack too rca cable aswell.. Just incase something should happen to the laptop (crash, power failure, spilled drinks etc.) that way u have a backup u can plug into the house mixer while u reboot. (provided they have a house mixer, if they dont have a house mixer u can plug the mp3 player directly into the house amplifier).
As for the mixtrack and laptop u should be fine for a small club..Provided that u have music on ur laptop ^^

MemberTop of my head? Janet Jackson – Go Deep..
also alot of deep house tracks have it.. Cant remember any at the top of my head. your safest bet is to “edit” the sample out of a podcast radioshow like Deeper Shades of House, or Deep House cat. Those shows run samples that contain the word deep all the time. Hope u find this helpfull.

MemberAll right! THanks for clearing that up. I was under the impression that i might have to buy some of the “higher” end soundcards.. But splitting the two 1/4 inch jacks too RCA makes sense! Thanks π
