ParticipantI was able to listen to your version for considerably longer than the original, which I found to be steaming pile of dung, your version was a definite improvement, and well produced.

ParticipantThanks again for that – the leads finally arrived and got it all set up today – isn’t that complicated once it’s set up it all makes sense. One of my cheap speakon leads didn’t work to begin with, took it apart, put back together and it’s fine, is it worth returning is the question, postage would probably be too high, better getting a lead from a reputable supplier.Peavey Subs sound great, but now my Skytecs sound shot by comparison, really bad… is it worth upgrading the bass drivers and horns or just flog and buy new? Read someone had put Eminence Beta 15″ drivers in a Skytec box and it sounded great?

ParticipantHi and welcome Nina – for loop based music production a lot of people start with Fruity Loops – I know a guy with a record deal who is still using it – his Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/fosterlovesit
I started with a program called Making Waves – http://www.makingwavessoftware.com – at that time had a save disabled version and saved stuff on cassette tape – which might give away how long ago it was.
I found it intuitive and easy to learn. It’s mostly sample based, and you can use any sample as a loop, percussion or instrument. You can use VST instruments and effects and without registering you can save your work, just not export it as a mixed down file.
I went from there to Cubase using mostly MIDI/synth, but still go back to Making Waves for some sample stuff.

ParticipantHi and welcome, like your sound, definitely has potential

ParticipantThat’s a good list, will add a few of those to mine. You probably do, but didn’t mention fuses and spare power cords. I also bring a bag of audio adapters and extension cables, things I don’t want to use but if it gets me out of a hole, will do at a pinch.

ParticipantHi and welcome, I’d like to hear some of that – got a Soundcloud link?

ParticipantHi and welcome. My tip for first gig would be: Make a plan, be well prepared, then be prepared to throw 95% of the plan out of the window on the night.

ParticipantIt seems like a fairly standard music video, fits right in I suppose. The only things I found strange were the lip synching of the singer was out in places near the start, and near the end when there’s a close up of the lady’s hand, her hand looks like it’s been in a boxing glove and punching crap outta something, might be better in black and white that part.

ParticipantThanks, Boy – better half if you say so :p
I have arranged gear to be stored in my mum’s spare room, which will be warm and dry and not too many stairs

ParticipantHi and welcome to the forums.
As a digital DJ beginner I recommend Virtual DJ – you can download the free version to get you started.
Convert your CDs etc to MP3, and you’re ready to go. You just click and drag the song to the deck you want to play it on. Couldn’t be simpler.
A USB soundcard can be bought on Amazon/Ebay etc for not a lot of money to allow you to listen to one deck on headphones while the other plays on the speakers.donnyboybelfast@yahoo.co.uk
ParticipantHi and welcome to the forums

ParticipantThe Oil fired central heating boiler is in there, which keeps it fairly dry/warm, so seems OK – had stuff in there 2 years with no ill effect I can see

ParticipantLOL yes I’ve been washing a lot of dishes since buying the new gear, basically agreeing with anything the other half wants, well she is also 8 months pregnant so not a good idea to rub her up the wrong way. I think the outhouse (it’s solid concrete built) is where the gear is going, once I get grills on the window and bars on the door, was thinking of some kind of alarm as well.

ParticipantOne more thing I found when producing using ‘good’ speakers, is that your mix could sound really different on ‘bad’ speakers, this is to be expected, but what I found was that a mix might sound acceptable on the good speakers, but terrible on others. So when mastering, I would try out my mix on a variety of different systems – in the car, PC speakers etc.

ParticipantCheap! And most of the reviews seem good – was why I bought them, and find them to be fairly good – sometimes find higher pitched sounds to be harsh on my ears with them is the only thing.

My Monitor speakers I bought a long time ago, Wharfedale Mid Field Monitor 3 – pretty bass heavy in reality but do love the sound of them (I like dance music and they are well suited) – placement and room size makes a big difference with these speakers -
