ParticipantJust dont do the organizing in Windows Explorer/Finder, thats a LOT of headache
Like Chuck too, i dislike the Itunes, i do most of my organizing in Rekordbox and Serato, vice versa, If i happened to make my list under rekordbox, and i liked it, i just simply dragged them to Serato for future use/references
I mostly labeled it per gigs, and made subfolder under it, I named it depends, sometimes i named it by genre, or Beginning, MID, End,

ParticipantThey prolly want the cheap cheap rate cus ya know they expecting to get a family discount from you since ya know, they see you as a family
How about you tell them, they can provide with their own sounds and lightning, and you just bring your DJ stuff

ParticipantWhat’s your software?
Serato DJWhat made you choose your software?
Friendly environment, colorfull waves, simple and easy interface,What type of gigs do you play with it?
Clubs & Mobile DJ’sWhat makes you favor it over the others?
Plug N Play, you plugged in your controller you good to go, no fiddling around the setup and such
More friendly grid with the multi-genre tunes I throw at it, 80′ classic dico ? no problem, rnb-hip hop? no biggieLamid45G
ParticipantFor the love of god i hope you used this kind of setup at home not on LIVE performance =p

ParticipantAs far as the request goes, since u DJ ing at the wedding you cannot simply ignored them like you playin in the club.
In the club setting its all fine and dandy if you can ignore most of the request, but in the wedding setting not so,Lamid45G
ParticipantJust to be on the safe side stay away from EDM mode, wobble wobble dubstep, and you should be fine =p
April 21, 2015 at 3:00 am in reply to: How do I know I am club ready and if so what are the best ways to get a spot? #2180531Lamid45G
Participant1. There is no really a magic factor that “commands” you HECK yeah im ready!!!, the thing is with this attitude you going to keep asking yourself these questions am i ready ? omgwthbbq im ready ??? When that opportunities rised up knocking your door, you rushed to it and opened it, whataver you ready or not, if you just sit around in your butt wondering ready or not, welp you going just to be sitting in your butt till kingdom comes
2. Take it easy, it is your first time right? dont worry about how to set yourselves differently from others, its not that time for you do that (yet), play it safe and within your comfort, when you build up experiences enough THEN you can start thinkin how to stand out from others

Participant2. Should i add songs that he may not necessarily heard of, but may like?
Experiment with it, for example throw some Martin Garrix – AnimalsWho hasn’t heard of Martin Garrix – Animals, Rizki? Only the number one track in 2014 at Beatport Pro LOL.
To a 50 year old not into dance music… martin Garrix – animal is just noise they wish would stop.
Thats exactly what i meant Martin Farmer thanks for pointing it out XD, thus why i used it as an example

ParticipantDisagreeing too,
Using a premixed sets in the beginning is a no no for me, even tough like you said the organizer “fine with it”, later on they going to think “well he just playin a mixtape anyway, well folks next time we dont need a DJ’s, save our budget!”
The organizer hired you as a DJ not an operator, so act like one,
Even tough your sounds just a background sound for everyone else, but you still can commandeering, manipulated their mood, get them all warm, prepped up for your next bangin sets!It can also leads to a laziness attitude, which is not good
Only time i slipped a mixtape (my own made mixtape anyway, not some random download from soundcloud, another sign of “laziness attitude”, if you use your own mixtape you can still maintained your style and colors) is when i need to take an emergency exit #2 to a bathroom, or grab me a bite to eat, then again I cant just let the mixtapes runs for too long, cuz im itching to get back behind the decks again lol
April 6, 2015 at 8:45 am in reply to: New to Midi Consoles… What would you recommend for a newbie? #2169721Lamid45G
ParticipantSince you do karaoke also, I would recommended to check out the software, Virtual DJ, it supported for mp3+g format for a karaoke, and check out what controller that do support Virtual DJ (there is plenty out there)
And all you gotta do is to run cable from your laptop to your visual screen, I used to run hdmi from my laptop to a big screen TV
