I dont understand why you keep on insisting playing pre-recorded stuff ? I mean, whats the problem here? Do you not like DJ ing ? Let it be 1 hour set 2 hour sets, 7 hour set, or hell 24 hour sets, I Love DJ ing, its my passionate…
You make it more like a burden to you than doing something that you love? I dont know, thats how I see it lol, correct me if im wrong…

7 hour set it easily break down to a few section,
    Make it to each 1 – 1 1/2 hours set…
Each set you can play one genre, the next set different genre, just experiment play around…Once you found out when is your “prime time” peak hours” this is where you give it all you got ! This is where you show off…
    Here’s example of my slots…I played from 05.00 PM – 11:00 PM

    05.00 PM – 06.00 PM : Soulfull House Set
    06.00 PM – 07.30 PM : RnB / Mash Up / Top 40 Set
07.30 PM – 10.00 PM : Prime Time Slot (In My case i Played local Anthem + mix match EDM, just try to tear the place down)
10.00 PM – 11.00 PM : Chill out Prog House Set

What exactly did you bring to the interview, and what would you bring with you next time? How did your conversation go as far as pay is concerned? Did you get to haggle or was it a set price? What would or wouldn’t you do again for your next DJ interview?

    • MSI Z87-G45 GAMING ATX
    • 2TB WD Caviar Green <— swap this with OCZ Vertex 3 240 GB SATA 6Gb/s, cuz its 6 gig transfer supa quick !
    • Intel Core i7 4770K 3.5 GHz (Haswell)
    • Cooler Master Hyper 412S
    • Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760 2GB Windforce R2 <— drop this, as you don't really need high awesome graphics for music & production
    • ASUS BW-12B1ST Blu-Ray/DVD <— maybe just the regular CD/RW/DVD combo be cheaper?
    • Windows 8 64-bit OEM <— eh stick to Windows 7 64-bit Ultra Edition, Windows 8 is so so so right now…
    • be quiet! Pure Power L8 430W 80+ Bronze M
    • Fractal Design Define R4 White
    • Samsung SSD Pro Basic 840-Series 256GB
    • Corsair 16GB (2x8192MB) CL9 1600Mhz VENGEANCE LP <– 16 GB might be a lil bit overkill, maybe just stick with just 8 GB, with an opt to upgrade it later on

Its missing one of the essential parts… the sound card ?
Keep in mind like you stated earlier you want a PC for mixing and production music, so you should stick with that one and only purpose, if you need a PC for gaming build another one designed for just that, gaming.

Dress nice, but not over dress, like a suit and tie lol, and oh yes no flipper please =)
You done any job interview before ? If no, just relax, be polite and be yourself,
Do you have a DJ Resume ? If you do, great, print one and bring it one with you in nice long brown envelopes,
bring one you recent mix also in CD, Any DJ Business Cards? Bring those along too…
Of course, one of the main question will comes out is the Fee’s, how much you worth? Hopefully you already have an idea before hand how much fee you worth? (so you can bargain with them if you want, if the fee’s doesn’t meet your expectation, or you might said screw it and take it without the bargaining argument =p)
And oh yeah, be prepared, he might want to see you perform live, and see it for himself…
    And lastly, relax…
    And Good luck ! =)

@terry: i never said the agency hire a dj for a gig overseas,
I agreed to you it is much harder to actually to get gigs overseas,
its for a gig in other cities within the same country, nationally/locally to clear it out, not Internationally…
Here’s some of the example, “Donutz Production” (http://www.donutzproduction.com), their phone number +6221 735 7870
Another one, “Passion Inc.” (http://passion-inc.com/), and many many more, like I said there’s 1000 of em
Granted, some of the these agency quality is varied, but it served the main purpose to get you gigs…

I also saw dozens of unknown/nobody DJ’s playing out in other cities (nationally), 1,000 miles away from my hometown, not only they don’t have to pay the gas and hotel, the clubs/sponsors pays for their airplane tickets and hotels, plus they got pays also while playing at their club.

@terry: they are a lot of this local talent agency who provide services to an unknown DJ and such, its true I can do it on my own on my hometown, but when i tried to look for gigs in another cities (same country-wise), these talent agency will help you out, in fact in order to get a “name” or to be known DJ (at least locally), getting gigs in other cities is one way to go about it, and obviously for the same reason is because I had no idea or no idea who’s the manager or those clubs in those other cities, or some of those cities is just too far away from my hometown, separated by oceans and seas, cant just drove there lol, the agency can help you to bridge those out.

The usefulness of the talent agency / DJ Management Agency is just that … for getting gigs …
Most of the time they have access to Manager/Owner of the club around the cities of your hometown, sometimes they also have access to Sponsors (ex. Tobacco Company, Beer-brand Company, etc), and these Sponsors can “finance”/support you on your next gigs or somewhere around that line

IF you really really really need the video feature also, I guess running both, Ableton and Resolume for the video feature can do the trick, and you can control it all in one controller also, like APC for example…
