Those were great times 🙂 And I remember this time a group of Brasilian girls were on the last night of their European trip and decided to have a really good time. They came in on a tuesday night (which normally was dead as a doornail) and I had them dancing from 11:00 til 01:00 or so. They left in search of other places (which they never found btw, there is only one me of course :-p), but not without one securing my address and the time I got off work.

It’s really tough bein as a good lookin’ and handsome as chuck…

40 to 50 dolla is about the right amount i would pay to see a headliner, plus with that price they usually have 5-6 different DJ stages with different headliner DJ’s on them

    Awesome success story !!!!
    Gratz dude !
What intriguing me the most is, you DJ ing in a rural area of Kentucky, and you also said you played some dance music, since the US known for not really “friendly” for some “dance” music, but the crowds you plays too just dance their butt off,
I’m really interesting in what you played that nite, can you elaborate just a little ?

Hellow Stirct Rules, DC Iz in da houzeee !!! welcome to the forum, and err no im not from DC, but I always dyin to say that =p
As many of the good folks here already points out, since this is your first time at this particular club and your first time to get your hands on CDJ, yeah keep it simple…
IF you come in bring in your DDJ controller, here’s what happened…
    1. More than likely there’s going to be another DJ playing before or after you, so you be like “Excuszzze me err pardon me i want to plug here my controlla !!!….ow yeah wheres this plug goes into again? err do you have flashlight? I cant seee …”
    2. That DJ WILL give you a I freakin slap in your face look that’s for sure …. heck I Would !
And you not gonna feel and look like a pro at all, believe me LOL

And what kind of CDJ is in the club ? CDJ 2000 ? 2000 Nexus ? ?
Be a good idea if you can drop by the day before your gig to check the stuff out, hell even take a pic of the setup and learn it at home, It’s annoying when you start playing and you trying to figure out wheres this button that button…(and in the dark)

I wouldnt even bother to do the 3 hot cue points, fancy stuff,
Stick with the basic, Cue button, Play Button, Next & Previous Button, your pitch control, and just mix smoothly
PS please be careful with the sliding thing under the pioneer LCD screen (dont know what its called), cause you can accidentally skip the track with that ( i did LOL)

SO yeah CD’s, backup CD’s, and USB as your sekret weapon

Ya know you CAN hook your 1200 to a laptop running Serato LIVE Scratch,as Terry pointed out felt more natural to you
hence skipping the part of buyin a controller

And ow yeah i double slapped you also for sellin dem 1200 ..o.0

Howdy focus, welkome to the forum =)
As far as preping for a set, most of the time I burn my already made playlist (in order the way they will be play Track 1-2-3 so on) to 2 cd’s, so what I do is play Track 1 from deck A, then track 2 from deck B and so on, or USB sticks if the venues provide the CDJ with the USB port

I tend just to leave my gears at home, since most of the time i only plays 1-2 hour sets anyway, and of course i bring my CD case, just in case for some rtarded big spender with a big tips wants to request =p

Kind of a bit harsh to what your wife said, either shes really really busy or she just dont have the patience to teach you the basic,
You can’t just expect to throw someone in the water and expect them to float and swim right away and scream at them out of loud from the side, “PRACTICEEE !!!!!!!!! Practiceeeee, practiceeee……!!!!” you need at least the basic of it,
the basic is my dear sir, is something that CAN be learned !!!
If you don’t even know the basic of DJing what the hell you going to practice on anyway ? LOL
So learn the basic of DJ ing first, ocne you learned, understand the basic of it THEN you can practice it

This is an argument we had with our locals, physical flyers or E-Flyers ?
It really depends on your own budget and how big is the events ?
If you tight on the budget (or no budget at all) stick with E-Flyers, you can always blast it away on twitter, facebook, or the favorite one is via BBM (Blackberry Messenger) you can put it in your picture profile and broadcast your event via BBM (its like a mass messages to all your contacts informing about your events)
Most of the time if the event it self its not making a huge profit anyway we just go by the E-Flyers route.

But if you think your event is going to be HUGE, with superstar guest star DJ’s or whataver, and you have the budget to throw around left and right by all means, do both physical flyers and E-flyers,
My best strategy is to hired 4-5 hot sexy females, dress sexy, have them walk around, around 100 miles radius from the venue you have your event on, armed them with the flyers, and get them to hand out in local mall, local hangout places, local 7-11 and such, and it only cost you like 50 dolla per female

Why do we HAVE to pick a software?

We have to pick a software its just a matter of convenience, just like picking a game, First person shooter? or RPG? or Hello Kitty Adventureland?
Which one we like? that’s the one we picked

Are guys like me just a random occurrence ?

Not just random, rather more smart perhaps?

Should there be more of us ”Adaptive DJ’s” or not?

Nah, not really, the competition is already hard as it is right now, if its more adaptive DJ’s out there that who can plays anything throws at them, bleh, it’s just means make its more harder competition =P

The Black Rag, post: 43200, member: 7330 wrote:
Why does it seem that guys that can use what ever hardware/software is thrown at them always seem to end up teaching others?

Well it just means , you more knowledgeable than others, up to you if you want to share this knowledge or not, i say share it and charge for it =P

As it mentioned earlier by D-Jam, is the Club really required us to play to whatever the club provided or we allowed to bring our own stuph?
Some of my local clubs, have these old beats up CDJ-100, or a pitch control that doesnt even work anymore, or a beat up USB port on their cdj’s that cant even read USB anymore, or something more retarded like a pair of CDJ 2000 that doesnt even link together (the reason they said they dont link it em together so the DJ’s wont be lazy and just bring USB stick, EH ???? I dont even bother to even mouthing the word WTF???) i said eh? i just bring my own controller, and most of the time they dont really care as long we not interrupting with their business flow
