I would vouch for the DMS, as Im the subscriber myself, the way they arrange their collection is a life saver for me, like I had a gig last time they requested a tunes from the 90’s, all I gotta do is go the DMS sites and pulled the Decades features, it has like the 1990’s, 80’s, 2000’s all the way back to the 50’s, I picked the 90’s one and all the tunes from the 90s right there at my finger tips, (all genres ranges from rnb, Nu Disco, Pop) all DJ’s friendly tunes (with intro and outro),

Been in one of those expo before,

Need to consider the maximum benefits, is it worth it that much ?
The one i took it its because they offered it so cheap, so ya know why not
In your case thats some serious dolla !, and you need to put that 2×3 booth to the maximum potential, dont forget to bring your banner, make a lot of copies of flyers, and hire 2-3 one of them Sales Person Girls to get them walk around and hand the flyers, make a few of shirts with your logo and give them away,

Personally tough, 2300 dolla its way too much for 2×3 expo, and only 20,000 people going to be in it ? eh I personally skipped it, there other promotional marketing that you can spend on with 2300 that worth it more

The Chemical Brothers – Chemical Beats

This one particular tune, that got me interested listening to dance/remix tunes (that leads to clubbing/DJing) back in the days I hate anything remix of the original songs that I liked, or any up-tempo tunes, I was in love drowning in pop-mellow-crap basically

i owed it all to my once-buddy (still think he is), Carlos is his name, this cat kept feeding me this tune, EVERYTIME I was riding with him, he kept playing this over and over in his 12 inch subs, i kept gettin a headache, nausea at first encounters (well several), I prayed “LORD make his stereo ate this TAPE !” LOL

Then suddenly, one day, its just snapped thru me, I start bopin my heads and started thinkin “man this TITE!”
Thus began my magic journey thru the Electronic music tunes, everytime when i think about the start of this journey, i always think of my buddy, Thank You Carlos !

PS : Just a little side notes, last I heard from Carlos was, he was badly damaged from drugs, he kind of lost some of his memories, some folks said they always saw him in the morning, just be like walking on foot, on the side of the road from his house to a nearby city (around 15 miles), for what ? noone knows, it breaks my heart when i heard this news

@Chuck yes the quality is the same 320 kbps, but they only served mp3 only, no other formats (wav, aiff and such)

On the side note, the advantages of signing into the DJ Pools is you can get (sometimes) cheaper tunes than other places, for example Beatport,

Example, “The Hum” listed at Beatport at $1.99, DJ Pool $1.33, its cheaper because usually you pay monthly for them DJ Pools

PS: Check out DMS, Direct Music Service, they have their own dedicated “Reggae” section, sometimes with today’s top 40 Reggae Mix, not sure if that’s the kind of reggae you looking for but you can still preview the tunes in there

Yes network definitely, you should have already a close contacts to a local EO’s, aka Event Organizer, there should be 1000 of em already ( it is on my local hometown) they have their own database of DJ’s (or MC’s, singers, dancers, etc) and they can recommended to you directly saving you the headache of going thru the selection yourself

You will find it more down the road, these days, we DJ’s dont get the luxurious humbler environment like we used to, back in the day we are the rock star, the club rolled out a red carpet for you, you get escorted with the bouncer to a DJ decks,

Just be prepared next time how to react, if they come to you with more hostile approached (which they will)

In answer to #1 play, whatever genres you like

The OP was asking what would be the best music/genre to practice on to improved his DJ skills, if he just practiced on whatever genre he likes he would more than likely to find some difficult playing certain genres
Back in the day, the DJ’s taught their pupils started on Classic Disco, which is works wonderfully (for me), I can switch genre from rnb, to electronic dance music, vice versa, with no problem

Fast forward today, most of the EDM tunes these days are very short intro and outro, hard to grisp for a new beginner to practiced on, imo, best way to practiced is with genre from progressive house, anything from Jerome Ismae remixes will do you solid most of his intro and outro and is super long and easy to practiced with, and his tracks loads of fun too
