ParticipantI never had ever ever that long set of list, like ever, maybe a couple request every now and then that came with a good tips slide in with the paper request,
In private parties function same thing, usually some half a** naked exotic asian approached me and whispered me her request and offered me a shot of tequila…
To that kind of request a 38 song ? I just nod and grin to they guy that requested it “Ok”, and prolly just play one-or two songs from that list, to whichever suits your already established set-list, i mean eh ? He’s not the one that payin’ you anyway right ?September 17, 2013 at 1:03 am in reply to: Some of my experiences on my gig this past Saturday #44266Lamid45G

Completely agreed, even worse in here, everyone thinks they are a dj after they get JUST a Virtual DJ in their laptop (lol)

ParticipantSeems like you trying to do both things at the same time,
Maybe the venue you having your bday party at, had some kind of packages deal the venue+ DJ packages ?
DO like any these guys suggested make a mix tapes 30 mins , 1 hour or whatever, and If you want to impressed your guests more you can go behind the decks and spin like 5-6 songs and then back to your mixtape and back to mingle to your guests again,
No sure why you really insist wants to DJ in your own bday party anyway ?Lamid45G
ParticipantNot too bad of a name, is this also applied also to your DJ style ? (as in dark & light hearted)

Was wondering if you could shared the design of your business card? I alwyas wondering what the DJ Business card looks like, the design, the writing and stuffAlso, with the promoter, do you have some kind of hard-paper contract agreement ? You know just to be on the safe side so you wouldn’t get tricked to play for 2 parties for free again 😉

ParticipantI usually go first with my explorer folder and labelled them “NEW MUSICAAA Sept 2013”, and then labelled them on the sub-folder based on their genre,
When its time for the gigs, i rearrange them back in My Serato Playlist, like “KICK A$$ Gig, Sept 27 2013 @ Titty Twister Club, Mexico City”, and then make another sub-folder under that, and labelled them sometimes as “BEGINNING”, “MIDDLE, “END”, “Pumpin'” , “Booty Shakin’ Anthem”, or can just labeled them by its genre “FUNKOT”, “DUCTH”, “BREAKDUTCH”, “PROG” and so onLamid45G
ParticipantLooks it still heavy…*umph
Guess if this thing work with Ipad, why in the world we want the Z1, while we can get this all-in-one solution right out of the box ?Lamid45G
ParticipantTake all the advice that all these guys above gave you …
yeah its going to be difficult, you can’t just show up with your cd’s and start playin on CDJ, IF you never experienced the CDJ before (especially if its CDJ 100 LOLOllolol…)Lamid45G

What I need your advise on: A good but cheap 49-61 midi keyboard,I had M-Audio Pro Axiom-61, cost around 200 dolla, it integrated very well with Ableton & Logic, a lot of knobs , a mini drum-pads ,its pretty decent keyboard for the budgeted price

– What’s the basic set-up likely to be? I’m playing at The Junction in Cambridge so it’s an established venue – I’ve currently got Traktor and Numark Mixtrack Pro so is that going to suffice?Since you mentioned it’s an established venue, I take it they have at least basic Pro DJ Setup, ex. Pioneer CDJ’s and in-house mixer (ex. DJM series), your setup is more than suffice, but that’s bring us to your second question…

– Also, I’m playing in-between two other DJs so how does that work – as in how will we do the laptop/decks changeover?Your first time right ? How long you gonna be spinning ? 1 hour ? It’s not worth it to bring your own gears, First you have it to tuck it around with you until its time for you to play, Second you have to hook it up, more than likely during the DJ before you playing, so you can imagined the hassle, in the dark, you have to figured it out which socket to plug into the house mixer, dont count on the in-house tech to help you out, or EVEN the DJ before you, they prolly just gonna look at you and give you a WTF look !, if you not comfortable with the venues ( aka you go there a lot, you know the owner, all the DJ’s, from the bouncer to the bartender), stick with just BOC (Bring your own CD’s)
PS: And since the headliner playin dnb/jungle genre, might be a good idea try to stick with the genre close to it, maybe some light breakbeat, or some tribal,. throw in some light dubstep/trap here and there ( I dont think trance genre match too well, imo)
