ParticipantWhat you called 32 beats, You prolly refer to bars, 1 bars equals to 4 beats, so in essence 32 beats = 8 bars, for me its a lot easier to count them in bars, instead of beats, because you dont have to count all the beats, so its like this, dug, dug, dug, dug…one (1 bar ),two, three, four, one (2 bars), …etc
This method is Counting Bars, so if song A had like 8 bars outro, and the song B had like 12 bars intro, you “cut” the intro of song B to 8 bars so it matched the song A outro, so that way when song A about run of outro, the “energy” of the song B kicks in
I would recommended to get a practice a lot on House genre of EDM instead, it keeps the “complicated feature” of dubstep to a minimal

ParticipantBONUS Q: How do I transition between a track, say, at 128 BPM down to a track at 95 BPM?
To be able to transition smoothly, you need to divided 128 by 2 so its 64 bpm, instead of the 95 bpm, or you could increase the bpm of 128 to the factor of +2 make it to 130 bpm, and changed the 95 bpm to 65 bpm, its what I usually did with the 128 bpm round it up to 130bpm sounds more smoothly fluid blended it all together with the transition track

ParticipantI did it this all the time, especially with really popular tunes, it then became my signature, I usually mix and mash up with a trap remix of the particular tunes, usually during the breaksdown of the original remix, i replaced it with the trap remix, or sometimes after the breaksdown of the orginal remix, i replace it with the trap version, for example the “Clarity” remix by Tiesto, after the second breaks, ya know the chanting one, the “Hey-ay, hey-ay-ay….”, then after the “why are you my clarity?”, I replaced it with the trap version of it, I got a LOT of good feedbacks not only from the crowds but a fellow DJ’s also
Was this cheating ? Eh I don’t think so, cuz i put the effort of my own

ParticipantSurely since you want to open up a Professional DJ Business, especially for a wedding and such, you not just relying on just you laptop and just a mixer right ?, you need at least some kind of DJ controller to control your laptop, and most DJ Software integrated very well with Itunes, such as like you mentioned Virtual DJ, and of course Traktor

ParticipantAs far as the music collection goes, you may need to update it frequently, cuz ya know 1 year is still far ahead, keep it fresh and updated be a thing to do also

ParticipantI tap my feet when i do the “inside mixing” in my headphone and see if both tunes sync to my feet tapping

ParticipantOr if you have windews, Windows Movie Maker should do the same job

ParticipantAre you trying to mix it in other than the outro section ? You can and You can’t, most EDM standard relies on mixing in the outro with intro, it is the standard basic mix 101, I suggest since you just started, start mixing with the basic rule first which is the outro, then when you get comfortable and a lot lot lot of practices, you can start experiment mixing in other section of the tune other than the “outro”

ParticipantI wouldn’t worry about it too much and to called it a “bad gig” ,like you said the floor was packed correct ? When you felt discourage thinking about that night, just remembered the feeling you had when you saw the floor was packed ? What you felt ? Adrenaline rush right ? Yeah man keep up the good work and dont sweat it too much

ParticipantYou can use “RekordBox” by Pioneer to arrange your tunes (its like Itunes) but it only worked for Pioneer CDJ that support Rekordbox (hence the CDJ 2000 series)
Or you can also use Itunes to organize your CD Playlist which then you can burn em into a CD.
Most people sworn up and down to burn like 4-5 tracks / CD, eh I’m cheap, most of my gig it only lasted 1 hour or so, so yeah 12 tracks / CD good enough for my cheap-self, plus I have to burned 2 of em anyway, so imagined if I just burned 4-5 tracks/CD, how many CD’s I have to burned for just 1 hour set lol
