I agree what djrizki said. Also many Pros always are on their knobs because it looks cool, they do not do anything really and sometimes turn knobs on channels that are muted :P but it makes them look more important especially in preparation of a bass drop and jesus pose…

Guilty as charged, and I also twist my whole body too when I’m twisting the err (muted) knob, err not the 360 degree twist the whole body thing, that’s more like horror-like Evil Dead type of thing -_-

Go with the controllers route, if you never owned or bought one, the thrill and joy to research and pick one its an experience on its own

Check out DJ Controllers: The Ultimate Buyers Guide 2014 | Digital DJ Tips (<cite class=”vurls”>www.<b>digitaldjtips</b>.com/dj-<b>controller</b>s-<b>guide</b>-<b>2014)</b></cite>

With the CDJ route, not only you need TWO CDJ’s, you still need to BUY the mixer also, thats just a lot of dolla you be spending compared to the controllers route

My suggestion to re-record all the tracks from your Set-playlist to 130 bpm is if all the tracks in your set original bpm resides between 128 – 130 bpm, so yeah if you you have like one or two tracks in 124 bpm, I wouldnt re-recorded them to 130 bpm, as Chuck already pointed out to keep it on +/- 3% radius

    When to tweak the EQ.

Most of the time when a DJ tweaked the Eq. is when they ready to mix a songs, usually is like this Song A playin, we ready to mix the song B, song B Eq, position is, Low ( all the ways down), Mid (normal), High (between 9-10 oclock position), and then when you slowly to mix-down the Song B (aka turn the channel 2 up), you tweaked some of the Eq., me personally, when the channel 2 fader all the way up, then i kill the bass the of the Song A, and in the same time turn up the bass (aka Low Eq.) of the Song B, of course it varies on different genres and different DJ’s do it differently too i imagined

    When to tweak the FX,

Psssh feel free to do it whenever or whataver

Tips: just dont over do the FX tough, the less is more rule may apply

Last question, what do you mean by the CDJs being linked together? Do you mean the music from my USB  will be available across both CDJs

Yes that exactly what it means

or will I have to bring a USB for each player?

If the CDJ’s not linked together, you need to bring 2 USB, one for each player yes

And what is the likelihood of them being linked together?

You never know, until you asked the club in question about it, you dont really want to gamble and just assumed that the CDJ’s is linked, and comes the gig night,  it is not linked and you only bring ONE USB with you,

To make things even easier is to re do all your Playlist tracks to one bpm, for ex. to 130 bpm, that way you dont even have to worry if the CDJ do not displayed bpm, set that pitch control at +0 and you ready to go

    Hellow Nodz,

Ableton is definitely more user friendly to get you started in music production, a couple of tweaks here in there you can get yourself a leads melody and some beats within a days

    – What is the easiest way to bring my music? Is it best to bring my laptop and play from my Traktor library? Or burn my music onto CDs/memory sticks

The easiest way is the USB memory sticks, if the club had the latest Pioneer DJ gear that supported Rekordbox, you can run thru your music first in the Rekordbox, save u a LOT of hassle then bringing your laptop, and I dont think DJ’s burn CD’s anymore are they ?

    – How different are CDJs from controllers? Can I still beat sync automatically so I don’t have to manually beat match?

When you first learned how to DJ, if you learned first from a controller its a BIG leap try to DJ in the CDJ, cause its a completely different beast

CDJ 2000 Nexus allowed you to sync automatically, but even then you have to analyze your music first in Rekordbox or the Sync feature wont work, and the Auto Sync only work on USB memory, not on CD’s

Learn how to manually beat match first if you want to DJ in the CDJ’s and its not a walk in the park,

Hellow Dice, its really great to see people inspired to move forward to be a DJ based on one and only the passion for it (not for money, fame or women), I said go for it, reach for the stars and dont tell  yourself “man i prolly never gonna be playin at the club…” If you enjoyed the flow and the energy from the people from that dance party, the energy and the flow of the clubbers in the club is 1000 times more, so yeah, Warning : It may be hazardous and leads to addiction ! lol

PS: there’s is already a LOT of controllers out there that can fit your budget, check out digitaldjtips controller guide 2014 ! and a headphone, people will appreciate you more if you armed with these toys

And welcome to the forum =)

    PS dang 34 thats old !! =p
