Another approached is actually come to that club yourself where the club/owner in question work at. Just casually introduced yourself, do a little chit-chat and dont asked them straight away ” Can I DJ in your club????? “, not only you gonna get the raised eyebrows, they also like Who are you ??? Are you Armin Van Buuren ??? What makes you think you worthy enough to be playin in MY Club? Well somewhere in those lines. If you get too nervous to approached the club/onwer directly, how about the resident DJ’s of the that club? Make a connection to them, surely in time they would offer you to meet the club/owners or offered you their time slots?? ( A DJ’s a human being after all they can get sick or some others thing)
These things just takes time to build up from ground up, just keeps goin at it, eventually you will get it

PS : I forgot to mention with the CDJ 1000 you need to BUY the Traktor Scratch Pro, the Traktor Pro 2 wont worked with the time-code CD’s so that another $$$ to waste

Mind you explaining in a little more detail how would I need to connect CDJ’s 1000 in order to be use them along with Traktor?

Its more complex, first u have to purchased a good interface sound cards, then you have to twiggle around with the cable plus connection then you need to get the timecode CD’s, its a LOT of mess, be more convenient just do as Terry suggested imo

    1. Numark Mixtrack PRO, from my own experiences its a OK beginner controller, the lack of VU meters did not bother me much, but the one thing is bugged me is, no gain knob on it, in the club in-house mixer i have to turn the gain all the way up so it at least can go hand to hand with the CDJ quality sounds, even tough the gain already at maxed, it still not satisfying to my ears compared to the in-house CDJ quality, the Numark Mixtrack PRO 2, might offer a better sound card for it, not sure as I never tried them

    2. Windows base laptop is a hit and miss most of the time, depends on how well you can self maintenance it, my bedroom is always messy, i burp in public, this why I much prefer Mac it can take care on its own

    3. Virtual DJ, choosing program is much more a personal taste, the home version of Virtual DJ only allowed you to mix with controller for like 10 or 15 mins i believed, more than that you have to buy the full version. As terry already mentioned Numark mixtrack came with Serato DJ Intro, it should be fine for your normal mixing, the only difference i see between Intro and full version of Serato is the recording function

    4. Itunes, is OK too, not only for purchasing, you can use Itunes to arrange your playlist nicely, most DJ use this to arrange / re arrange their playlist, plus the music you see in Beatport, you can purchase it much cheaper in Itunes, the other option is a DJ Music Poll where you pay monthly designed exclusively only for DJ (well its their policy anyway)

@terry: When you first plugged in the 380, was it instantly working? or you have to click the 14 days free trial to get it to work ?

BTW, CDJ 1000 can still control traktor but not with the method you mentioned (with USB cables), You would need an audio interface such as an Audio 6, timecode CD’s and Traktor Scratch Pro 2, so yeah its not really a cost-effective one and time & space consumed

In another case of having for example 2 CDJ’s 1000 MK3 and DJM 800 – what is needed to connect these with a laptop and efficiently use Traktor?

CDJ 1000 dont have the HID support, therefore it cannot be used to control Traktor

On the other hand, CDJ 2000 Nexus do support for traktor, all you need is to plug in your 2 cdj 2000 NXS to your laptop, theres a little setup thing you need to do in CDJ 2000 for both of em and thats it, you can fully control traktor from your CDJ, no need to plug the mixer to the laptop (altough you can use DJM 900 NXS to control traktor, but I dont think its that necessary, if you already hooked your 2 CDJ’s to it)

Keep in mind if you running Traktor in Windows, you need to download ASIO driver for your traktor, the reason is so u can split the sound from Deck A and from Deck B

I kind of used two names, on my other names i reverse name from my real name, my real name is “Rizki Lamid” on my other dj name i used “Ikzir Dimal”, kind of give that middle-east flavor to it lol
